Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

All the people who made the premiership possible like Roos PJ Jones Jetta Cross Vince Lewis Bartlett Mahoney many past assistant Coaches and Goodwin Burgess Yze Williams Stafford Richarson as well as the board and the CEO Pert.

Some may have left the club but without their input and effort we would never have reached the pinnacle of success in the AFL not only get to Grand Final but winning the Premiership.

Nah, I've been using it for a while now and have had no ill effects, it just seems to work. Pretty sure it works by tricking the websites into thinking you're a Google bot indexing content for their search algorithms.

Re Goodwin:

"The members get a bit annoyed by him and media, because he’s very much one message in his press conferences and quite monotone – he just tells the media that one line that protects all his players. I think that builds trust. We got challenged in all of our finals at different points and we were able to respond with massive quarters. I think it comes off the back of him telling us how they’re challenging us and how to fix it, really cool, calm and quickly, so his on-field stuff is superb. But don’t underestimate how much batting for your players externally builds trust, especially with the young guys."

I downloaded the app but then was totally confused about what to do.  Ended up deleting the app. It’s harder for us old folk.

So much love for Roosy and what he did to turn our club around.  Took us from a total basket case and set us on the path to sucess.  Established the foundations of the premiership we are now basking in, by creating the start of the great team culture we now have.

When you look at it too, he is one of the few (possibly only) coach that I can think of in the modern era that has executed a near seamless and sucessful coaching hand over that has led to premierships.

I so clearly remember this game.  They were the reigning 3-peat Premiers.  We had been 'their bunny' for soooo long.  They were one of the 'Big'  clubs that a few years earlier had said they didn't want to play their Home games vs us at the G because their fans won't go.  We lost to them earlier in the season.   There was a lot of hurt tangled up in all that.

We beat them 17.8 to 11.15.  It felt like a cathartic win.  On the siren I cried as some of the past hurt was released.  It felt like a turning point.   As it turns out that game marked a changing of the guard.  The Hawks did not make a PF again (we took care of that in 2018) and here we are Premiers.

I looked for reports of that game and The Age wrote:  "No football fan wants to hear their team is rebuilding, but today Demons supporters glimpsed a future filled with speed, talent and dare, and must have started to believe it had all been worthwhile...This may not be the Demons' year, but all signs suggest they would have one, and soon.  Prescient.

It wasn’t even so much how the 22 on that was composed. A lot of them have been either moved on or retired by now.

It was totally symbolic and that we weren’t ‘afraid’ of certain teams any more that got me excited.

I too actually remember shedding a tear on the train ride home as I could finally see some light at the end of a long, dark tunnel.

I think that was the other thing Roosy brought to the club: a continuous stream of quality people wanting to be involved.

It’s no coincidence that we no longer have incidents like ‘Rolf Harris dress up’, beer snakes at the ‘G and photo shoots with bikies.

Agree with all this.

I'd actually had a sneaky suspicion that we were poised to beat Hawthorn.  I recall I'd posted on here for our first game that season (which we nearly won as well and would have attracted a good payout) that I'd considered putting a $50 bet on us to win, to which @Ethan Tremblay replied something to the effect that I'd have more fun burning the money 🤣.  I'm not really a betting person, so I didn't end up putting money on either game.

Harmesy was one of the ones I reacall that really stood up thay game that's still there.  Oliver tough and brilliant, as was Track and Jaden Hunt.  Another classic Max Gawn game, and if you listen to the highlights, was this the origins of the "That's it, I'm growing a beard this week!" call?  All capped off with a classic Max off the side of the boot miss after the siren, which didn't matter, because we had the game stiched up anyway (gee, I hope he learns to kick those when we need one to win an important game!!).

Was also the Weid's first game.  Gee it has been a long build for him, but I'm still hopefully he can step up 2020 style and cement his place as an AFL footballer if he has a soild/uninterrupted preseason over this summer.

If my memory serves me correctly, the big Peddo bear might also have kicked a few?

Good fun watching watching those highlights, that’s now almost the standard Max Gawn game he’s set the bar so high for himself. Of course something he has improved is his kicking for goal after the siren!

A friend of mine who wasn't/isn't into football wanted to see a game, at the G. So I took him along and it happened to be that Hawks game. And who did we run into but "Ernie", who is a guy we both knew, and a big Hawks supporter. My friend doesn't like Ernie, not one bit, so he wasn't enjoying that Ernie decided to sit with us. Ernie didn't have to say much ... his entire demeanour was one of smugness at the pitiful Dreamons trying to take on the all-conquering Hawks. Well, my friend ended up enjoying the match and very very much enjoyed Ernie's gradual non-smugness and very rapid exit as soon as the siren went. The beers went down well.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
