Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We need to exact revenge on a few clubs to set things right. Hawks, Dons, Cats, Eagles, Pies, Tiges, Blues, Lions, Swans, Crows, Dogs, Saints, Dockers, Port, Roos, Giants and Suns come to mind.

Pies in particular

20 in a row will do me

Plus at some stage we throw them a metaphorical bone as a struggling club

Watched Rnd 2 vs Saints. We were 16 points down then kicked 3 in 4 minutes - promise of things to come.  I reckon TMc has played 'cranky' all year.

It’s time for the new guard, I’m sick of the smug attitude of the “Big Four” and their supposed right to play finals.

Let Carlton play a few so we can consign them to the dustbin.

Got about half a doz pages to catch up on and 👍 and 😄 but in the interim wanted to post about an odd feeling triggered by re-viewing (many times!) the boys on the podium. Very hard to explain but, at that point, the red and blue colours I've followed all my now-longish life, suddenly appeared surreally new to me, almost 'parallel-universe' to those familiar hues and familiar combination.

In trying to understand this, some things that occur to me are that 1. the last time we were so successful, such images were in black and white, 2. the colours have never been 'showered' in the confetti era, and 3. seeing the team in the all-blue-and-red, traditionally-patterned, strip is actually quite rare these days.

Anyone else identify with this (as far as they can understand me!)?

I understand what you mean. We are so unaccustomed to seeing our beautiful red and blue front and centre, all over the newspapers, social media and TV. It’s a little jarring, but in a good way. ❤️💙

I dream of meeting Essendon in the grannie and beating them by a point. Sweet mother of god that’d be the ultimate.
(Though, I daresay my heart would beg to disagree.) 😁

In certain circumstances player moves make a difference (e.g. Oliver close to Bontempelli in the GF), but a lot of the time they're desperation moves in desperate circumstances and the side still loses.

In Fourth Form English Class I was picked up by Brother Maloney - now the famous Father Maloney, Expert on the Johannine Gospel - for using 'desperation' as an adjective.  I said jack Dyer used it. He said, jack Dyer is not a an authority on the English Language.

My Father's two sisters married Collingwood supporters, and they had 7 kids between them, so Collingwood have always outnumbered us in the family.

I managed to convert my youngest Aunty's second son to Melbourne and took him to many games before he grew old enough to have a posse of peers to go with. He moved to Sydney a few years agoband I hardly see him anymore but we both flew over to Perth in 2018 for the prelim and commiserated over drinks after the game. There have been times when I felt guilty for converting him to the Demons, but not anymore.

I would love nothing more than to beat the Pies in the Grand Final.

The 88 Semi Final is the first final I remember going to (not sure if dad took me to the 87 EF/SF) and it is etched in my memory for all time. Beautiful sunny day, punch on before the first bounce, Garry Lyon kicking a nice goal from the southern stand pocket at the punt road end and we ended the Pies finals run. Watched the replay so often as a kid I wore out the tape.

Yep, I felt as though this season our home strip + navy shorts looked better than it ever had before, not sure why I noticed it so much.... maybe it is just a big swell of pride for our incredible team

No two teams have played each other in more grand finals.

Personally I’d like to beat hawks in a grand final. I’m still bitter about 1988

I'm rather hoping that the poos/wees stay towards the bottom of the latter, and become largely irrelevant. Sacking Clarkson was madness ... and hopefully a curse (like the Norm Smith version) ensues.

I went to South Australia for a week to see my brother and his wife and try as I might I couldn't convince them to watch the replay. To make matters worse my sister in law loves classical music and whilst I don't mind it I had trouble listening to it for 6 or 7 hours at a time and after spending half a day with either Bach or Beethoven in the background I was about ready to slash my wrists sensing this my dear sister in law would throw on some Enya or whale sounds to cheer me up.

So after 7 days of this and missing the MCG Celebration and the replay, I got home yesterday and the first thing I did was turn the replay on and again today, I think I've wiped out the memory of my "holiday" over in SA but to make sure I will watch it again tomorrow.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
