Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs

I've watched the PF a half a dozen times and with 6.15 to go Fritter is being chased by two Cats defenders and it appears to me that he gets the ball and throws it back on to the feet of the cats defenders and in doing so it propels the ball forward to Kozzi who kicks a goal.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I thought he (Fritta) just kinda fumbled.

Finally picked up a blue-ray edition of the 2021 Grand Final. After at least 4 weeks of not watching the grand final, it was so refreshing to watch it again. My better half was amazed that after so long that a yelp (or two) and the odd fist pump were on display.

I haven't bothered to trawl through the pages of discussion since i last visited this topic and I'm sure it has been discussed to death, but wanted to share a few things that were apparent to me this time around.

1. Alex Neal-Bullen had such an impressive game. The big-time players have all been well documented (Trac, Oliver, Brayshaw, Fritsch, Salem and LJ) But ANB had 25+ disposals and just seemed to be everywhere, with his gut running, score involvements and defensive pressure. I for one commend him as i would have been leading the pack to have him dispelled a few years back. Happy to swallow my pride on that one and am so glad he is playing for us. Most happy with his decision making inside 50.

2. Umpiring. Whilst i will caveat this with the fact that we had the upper hand in umpiring decisions, and that in general the umpiring was good, there were several decisions (or non-decisions) that, in the moment could have had a major impact on the game. The four that were most apparent and during the most critical points in the game that I noticed were:

a. Gawns point (looked a goal)

b. Hunters ducking free (resulted in a Doggies Goal)

c. Harmes & Kozzy high contact inside 20m in front of our goal - non decision

d. Johannison push in the back on Doggies goal line (resulted in Doggies goal)

3. First time i watched the post game celebrations with attention to detail and can confirm Basil is an absolute a-grade [censored].

Alex Neal-Bullen

Agreed he has stepped up to another level all year. I used to wonder why he got games last year at times and cringed at his kicking on goal.

Now a fully fledged premiership player and gives 100 percent. His passion for the club is evident.

As for the umpiring I think we had a good run in the first half.

Ironically in the 3rd q when we turned things around I thought the umps were below average.

Other than that I didn't really notice them which in a granny is a good thing.

Enjoy your blue ray.

Canberra would suit him.

There were few dodgy frees in the middle to Libba including in the first 30 seconds. Viney gave two away that were not frees. Fritta was dragged to the ground in the goal square by EWood when he didn't have the ball, Plenty to get annoyed about

And the JJ one on the goal line was not a free because he marked it. Had he not marked it it would have been a free, Happens all the time.

ANB has been playing the same game for many years but has not been appreciated by DLanders until now. Lucky for him and for us the FD did understand and appreciate.

Even with the push in the back there is a line. And I think the JJ one was a definite one. But having a rule such as this open to interpretation is why we will have these issues forever and a day.

Petty taken high a couple of times but were probably softies. The two against Viney were defianately not there. Jack did well not to lose it.

That's not a pointless fact! It's connected to the fact that we've beaten Collingwood and Essendon in 10 Grand Finals which is a very satisfactory state of affairs!

We have a great record in grannies - 13 wins, 1 draw and 5 losses.

6 wins over Collingwood, 4 over Essendon, 1 each over dogs, Fitzroy and Richmond.

2 losses to Essendon, 1 each to Collingwood, dogs and Hawthorn.

There were complaints from Bulldogs fans that some of our handballs weren't punched. After reviewing it l do see that some were questionable. But the fact is they had some that should have been reviewed that weren’t and they fail to even mention that.

There was that goal the Fritch kicked that I thought was out of bounds on the full, but was thrown in. Having said that, I still think they got away with more than we did

Probably the Warwick Capper rule. He used to molest players on the way up and then take great grabs

TBH I think we would all like that to stay in our game. It is absolutely unique

A bit loose with the truth there tiers.

He was shopped around last year along with TMac. Thats how much he was appreciated.

He has always had great endurance but has been very hot and cold as a player. This year he absolutely turned it on and was one of our best players. Won't surprise me to see him finish highly in the Bluey.

Hotness was exemplified by kicking truly a few times from the left pocket 40 out throughout the season... just didn't quite replicate in the GF

For Melbourne to be fully Melbourne again, we need to play the Great Enemy in a Grand Final and beat the gizzards out of them.

I'm sure you mean Cwood but I think Hawks would go close.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
