we are very lucky Dees supporters at the moment with such a humble and respectable group of players that make us feel so proud of them not only as players but superb examples of young men in every different way they knocked out of the way the challenges during 2021 and embraced their success all along the way never taking their eyes off the ball.

And virtually drama free as well.

Hats off to them and the Club from the new Pres down to the staffers who all played their part and deserved very success that came our way.

Absolutely  look at Brownies 2nd we mark and goal agsin and see Gawny in front of his opponent enabling BBB to do exactly what we recruited his for ie to kick clutch and big goals!!

Was stoked with BBB in the Granny ad he marked well could have had at  least another 3 marks really with a bit more glue on the hands.

But best teamwork from Gawny which you need from big players to win Finals.

Yes it was Dee 75 A life changing event with good stories all around it.

Hard to come down from this although I had to check in 2 days after my return to Brisbane for an elective surgery Cardioversion I was able to put off to ensure this  dream was able to be real!!!

To the naked eye, and even on replay, he marks it. At least to my doddgy eyes.

If he marked it, remarkable that he chose to immediately play on and go for goal, given the distance, the fact he didn't have any run up and also had to kick over a dogs players (well around him sort of). 

He didn't give the umpire any chance to blow the whistle to indicate mark, such was the speed he got it to boot.

But i have read suggestions it was a half volley. If so, incredible presence of mind to immediately kick it. 

Either way, a truly remarkable goal that has sot of been lost in the tidal wave of crazy good goals in the third and last quarter.

Yeah everything I've seen makes it look like a mark too. Maybe Trac made the split second decision that it would be too far for him to line up the shot, and he just wanted to get on the board early and get the team going.

This play is one of my favorites of the game because his choices directly affect the Oliver goal after it.

Daniels is playing on Sparrow, He leaves him to put pressure on Oliver (as Trealor is not going to impact or pressure his disposal at all) but by the time Daniels gets to him, Oliver loops the handball over to his man Sparrow, who is only on his own because Daniels chooses to leave him as Trealor can't catch him (who was having his own mental battles at this time, drops his head a lot). 
His actions (the shepard half bump) to me seem like a kind of "giving up" moment. He knows he's left his man open behind him. 

The very next play, as Oliver is streaming through a rattled Daniels doesn't leave sparrow to put pressure on since his previous decision gave Sparrow a goal just seconds ago.
This split second decision Daniels makes to not go gives Oliver the space to go BANG

I believe it was done leading up to or just after he was drafted. It was around the time of the Jack Viney drinks cups of concrete for breakfast jokes 😂

Would love to see it again, side by side one of the real ones.

Totally agree he did the right thing going to Oliver. And yes he forced the handball.

It just seemed a bit of a half hearted effort - maybe a bit more intensity and the handball doesn't hit its target.

On Daniels, i think he has escaped a fair bit of scrutiny. Can't believe he got a norm smith vote.

He had a lot of possessions in the first half when we elected not to lock down on him, but very few of them were damaging. Compare and contrast to Salem.

And then in the second half, when we did lock down on him (Sparrow played a big role with this  - but i think also Nibbler and Harmes at times too) he had bugger all possessions and was defensively poor. Sparrow ran off him and he won few contested balls. And he asked for a cheapie handball deep in their defensive pocket, and shanked his attempt at clearing the ball, leading to the Gus goal.

He looked like he ran out puff to me.

I suspect they were happy for him to run around in the first half picking up easy kicks, safe in the knowledge he would blow up in the second half, with the plan to tighten up on him in the second half and exploit his defensive weaknesses.

To read Pert saying it was the best thing he has experienced in all his time in footy blew me away. He was at the helm at the Pies in 2010 and was part of a great era for them.

i reckon we were close to getting four goals in that last minute. Trac was almost about to launch but got caught. Its still a remarkable time for the club and I don't get tired of watching it.

How many times have we watched games we we have conceded a goal the last minute of the quarter? Way too many.

Imagine being a dogs supporter with the last 60seconds and Brown kicking into that pocket. You would be crossing your fingers thinking please don't give up a goal here,

But conceding THREE. if it happened to us I think my head would have exploded. There was a camera pan to some dogs fans after it all and the look on their faces was just silenced shock. If it wasn't for the incredible elation I was experiencing, I may have felt sorrow for them.

The strange thing was the dogs conceded another two in the first two of the last. A four goal lead wasn't impossible to chase. I think they were just broken from that last minute.

After he shanked that kick I don’t he did much that was super positive for the dogs. Killed his confidence and his teammates. 

He had an awesome first half but faded to nothing after Brayshaw’s goal. 

I’m sure it’s been mentioned but there are little team things through the game from players that didn’t play their best that ensured they still contributed to the win. Kozzie harassing in the first quarter allowing Spargo to get on the end of it, and his hard shepherd that let Trac kick his dribbler. TMac blocking Sparrow’s goal through. Max letting Jacko have his run in the ruck and providing a foil up forward. It’s a testament to the team first mentality.

And it would have been quicker except those goals in the last were from set shots which takes an extra 30 secs+.  And Sparrows kick to Brown took so long to come to earth I had time to make a cappuccino.

I think most people have been supporting us. It seems the crowd was pro Dees. The drought of flags creates sympathy and support. Much like I was excited for the dogs to win a few years back and then the Tigers. But we are all a fickle bunch. I know I was getting tired of the tigers success just as I dislike the cats. Too much turns one off. Which is a strange tall poppy thing I guess.

But certainly we love an underdog (no pun intended) and of all teams to smash in a GF I was hoping it wasnt the dogs as I feel they have been suffering like us. I wouldn't begrudge them a couple more cups but I want us to get them first.

Aside from the glory of it all its great for fans to see a non dominating club get up. Its tiring to see the same old clubs get the glory.  On this basis I have a soft spot for St kilda.

I imagine if we win three or four on the trot we will become unliked but I think we can handle it. I wonder how this club compares to other very successful premier teams like the Lions etc? Are we good enough to create a legacy of three? I know we do with the players ages and I guess a lot will depend upon injuries and perhaps recruiting. But  with our dynamic midfield and up and coming young recruits I believe we really  will be contenders again over the next five years.

How exciting the next few years will be. Imagine winning back to back flags. It would also be great for many of us to actually see it happen at the G as well. I'm keen to see how Fritta and BBb go next year too.

It will also be exciting just to see how many of our young players will progress, there's a couple there that will be superstars of the game I reckon.

What a strange feeling it will be when the season starts next year and we watch with confidence and expectations of winning. 

Oh yes indeedy..... its a great time to be a follower of the grand old flag.

I've thought exactly this watching every replay. He has clean possession, is about to hit the jets, and at the last minute has to sidestep a Bulldogs player, and the change in momentum just allows Bont to get a hand on him from behind, and the moment is gone. Even at the ball up from this we get a clean possession as the siren goes! Still, can't complain!

• When i watched the replay for the third time i noted his possessions - very few of his first half possessions were damaging; by my count two, maybe three tops - one was the kick to English on 50 when he out marked Petty
• By my count he only had one score involvement in the first half (IIRC the Bont goal set up by Shache) - the stats showed he only had 2 score involvements and no score assists for the game
• He had 5 inside 50s for the game (one being the aforementioned kick to English on 50, so a very shallow entry)  
• And he went at a pretty average 67% disposal efficiency for the game (noting 75% of his total possessions came in the first half )
• In terms of DE it is also worth noting he took five kick outs ie kicks under no pressure (one of which he butchered) 
• He did have 631 meters gained, and most (but not all) would have been in the first half, but as noted he had five kick outs which pads the meters gained stat (as an example May had 363 metres gained, despite barely leaving the dogs defensive inside 50 arc - we only had six kick outs and May maybe had four of them?)
• To be fair Daniels did have a game high 10 intercepts (to Salem's six), which is impressive

I thought it was only me, in my opinion Daniels gets too many cheap possessions from team mates because they see him as a distributor and give it off to him when they can.

Salem earns most of his possessions and very rarely stuffs up, if he does he is like a man possessed and does whatever it takes to get the ball back.

He’s a favourite of the pundit class, I hate the cheap stuff he gets - even that stupid hand off he effed up that led to Brayshaws goal - why are you getting that ball there, Caleb?
