Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

POSTGAME: GRAND FINAL vs Western Bulldogs

After decades of being a long-suffering Demons supporter, I had a shell, the standard protection that a supporter of a perennially losing team adopts. You know, the Monday morning wry smile, the shake of the head when opposition supporters zero in on another Melbourne loss or - worse - give you a sympathetic pat on the back where the condescension is laid on thick. It's the attitude that lets us endure, somewhat, another loss, whether it was a shellacking or a noble defeat. It's repeating to oneself 'Be gracious in defeat, noble in victory' but rarely knowing the latter part of this mantra. This state of mind looks forward to the trade and draft period now that the home and away games are done, the finals being an irrelevancy, obviously. It's the defence that means you pore over every detail of a recruit's background, looking for hope. Likewise with wins in practice matches. If a co-worker says your team looks like March Champions, you accept it with pride knowing, deep down, that it won't last.

As of September 25, that's ended. I've shucked my shell. I don't know how to behave as a supporter of a dominant team, the ultimate victors, the titleholders, the reigning premiers - but I'm more than willing to learn.

And I'm loving it.

Honestly I'd prefer just sitting in chair and thinking about how good that win/flag was than turning attention to the other sports I'm into or trade period right now.

I haven't been able to get into the NFL yet, far too distracted still

I’m SO pleased to hear this! I wasn’t sure if it is ‘normal’ to still be in disbelief 11 days after the fact. At least twice a day I stop and think, ‘bloody hell, we actually won the flag!’ Or ‘WE are the reigning Premiers’ or similar. I don’t know how long this will continue, but I have a feeling it’s not gonna wane anytime soon. ❤️💙

I don't think it will fully sink in for me until we are at the G round 1 - I think not being at the game has fuelled this disbelief even further

“This is a rivalry full of nastiness and there’s a few things that stem from it. There are senior players from both sides that don’t particularly get along”.

What’s he talking about? If there is bad blood it was not translated to the game. One of the cleanest GF’s I can remember.

Agree.  The only nasties were the hit on Clarry (which while deliberate and reportable, was in play) and the sling of Max.   Neither of which would you call the result of some nasty rivalry. There was very little of the -off-ball and in-packnasty behaviour we often see in matches.

Had the second Pfizer jab last night so decided to take today off feeling a bit funny. I'm just consuming everything again, I actually now don't think I've either watched the game enough or consumed every bit of media enough!

Yep projection. Seems to be a blight in modern media now as well as politics. Blame others for ones own indiscretions, untruths and outrages. [censored] the horse from both ends. Done with all seriousness without a hint of irony. A devolved creature of the media swamp he is.

We sang about twenty songs in the aftermath of the GF/ Who cares

Nonetheless the Dee crowd should sing Freed from Desire in unison when next we play them.

That would be legit brilliant.

Perhaps Demonland can engineer a 'spontaneous' chorus of  Freed from Desire at the 20 minute and 21 seconds mark of the first quarter when we play the Dogs for the firts time next year.

By the by, i had never herad of that song befire and tried to listen to it th eother day. Coudnlt do more than about 90 seconds. One of the most god awful songs i've heard in along time. The dogs cursed themselves once they chose that to sing post their grand final.

I’m disappointed.

Surely the song we should be singing in unison is ‘Kumbayah’!😄

Well to be fair, if the allegation of nastiness comes from us singing that song, that didn't happen until after the GF.

It was petty, us singing that song, but if the Dogs don't like it they should refrain from getting on the [censored] and chanting songs after they win games that aren't Grand Finals.

Hi @Deebymistake , would you be able to use your lip reading skills to inform me what was said in the conversation between Goody and Burgess during the third quarter. If you click the link below it will take you right to the moment

There's an interview with Burgess somewhere where he addresses it - they were just discussing rotations.

Burg: "Bit of a problem, mate. They reckon they won't have enough hamburger buns."

Goodwin: "Christ. The boys won't be happy. How many burgers can they make?"

Burg: "They reckon 40. But they've got plenty of chiko rolls and dim sims."

Goodwin: "Alright. Change the order. Take the 40 burgers, get 20 pizzas, family size, and all the dimmies they've got. And a large chips. And a bottle of Coke."

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
