Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I can't wait to see Derm have to offer us praise next year and not backhanded compliments either like he has in the past. Having to admit we are a genuinely good, tough team with mental resilience will just about break his reality.

A couple of months ago after our important win over Brisbane, when in an interview with Angus Brayshaw Derm decided that would be the best time to suggest that Clayton Oliver always throws the ball.

Went to bed last night.  Compiled my list of important things (which is many) I have to get done this week

Woke up this Monday morning, sprang out of bed, showered, dressed.  Grabbed my list.  Checked it.  Put it back down.

Walked to the TV.  Put on replay.  11 minutes and 31 seconds remaining in first quarter!  I'll get to my 'to do' list later.  Nothing is as important as watching this for an 8th time.

A bit of Sunday morning poetry for you all.

Remember, remember
Twenty-fifth of September
Firepower, awe and shock

I see no reason
Why Melbourne's fine season
Should ever be forgot

Recall, recall
Petracca's great goal
and Sparrow's and Clarry's on top

I see no way
How Melbourne's big day
Can ever be forgot

First, time for another 👍 to all (well, almost all😉) posters on this gift-that-keeps-on-giving thread.

Then, your offering, Mazer, gives me the courage to put my offering below out there. I thought if 1939 warranted recognition (though I've never understood why - 13-year drought? Pffft!) then 2021 definitely does! I sent it to the club and got a prompt and very warm thanks for it, which I really appreciated. Looks like that's as far as it'll go, then, but I've got it off my chest (or I finally do now😄):

3. Well The Curse was done, in the year Twenty-one,
And they did it for you and for me.
With that final bell, ending decades of hell,
We can sing with them finally free:
Every heart beats true, for the Red and the Blue,
And we sing this song to you,
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the Red and the Blue.

Just read an article by Buckenara rating players like English as A Grade and Hannan as B Grade that is one of the reasons they are premiers.

Oh I forgot they we thumped by a small margin like 74 points after leading by 19 points.

I guess these Jouno's must drink their own bath water because they were so smart.

Jack Dyer had a grading like Great, Good Ordinary and Ordinary I think he would have rated these 2 as ordinary even when the Bulldogs were 19 points in front 5 goals were kicked by Treloar 2 goals later he kick another and Bontempelli 3 goals where was Hannan and English who most experts have said is not upto Jackson's standard.

English is the type of player that we would have back in the bad old days - big, strapping forward/ruck that is as effective in a pack mark as Caleb Daniel.

That Petracca goal should not exist - English didn't do his job and it started the 'bang bang bang'...

So true. He said before the prelim “I hope the Dees beat Geelong, so we can watch them completely gas it in the Grand final”

He didn't say that.

The Prelim final AFL360 preview show had Nick Reiwoldt, Jeremy Cameron, Jarryd Roughead, Jordan Lewis and Mark Maclure.

Jason Dunstall was effusive in his praise for Melbourne in his post-Grand Final AFL360 review.

English A grade? Laughable.

Reminds me of Watts - all the skills and athleticism, but not the natural competitive streak.

"Cody Weightman ...playing A-grade football now"...FFS

Buckenara is just laughable.

How could anyone not be effusive after that.  If its a beautiful sunny day, it is a beautiful sunny day.  Can't be argued.

Dunstall is a [censored].  For years he has been very subtle in how he puts us down.  Unfairly so.

Mauriesy, can’t recall which day it was in prelim week - but 100% he said it. When it was just him + Gerard.

In fairness, he said it with a smile on his face.....ie friendly banter, rather than strong hate.

Loved this quote from Gus Brayshaw when interviewed by Garry Lyon post game. This flag has united the players, admin, past players and members back home. The players want to share the joy with all Melbourne people

His performance on the field when the game was in the balance and then that interview post match we're just bloody wonderful.

The more I watch it the more Angus stands out. Game of his life. Unflinching, played it like his last game, and when you think any game seriously could be his last, his courage was/is outstanding.
Just took hits, stood in holes, laid bumps, ran all [censored] day.
The mark speaks for itself. But I love the angles he runs in on like a cheeky bugger that makes the shot a whole lot easier.

Inspirational stuff.

Just saw this appear on my feed good explanation of what went on at the centre bounce, this kind of stuff I find impossible to pickup in real time.

Some fascinating insights. Thanks for sharing. Shows even with a star-studded midfield, the Dogs struggled with Martin constantly going to ground and English useless after winning the taps. Respect for Libba, McCrae and the Bont though.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
