Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I have to admit, I couldn’t believe Binman’s 47 point win tip and was very skeptical. Not that we wouldn’t win, but by such a large margin. Hats off to you @binman. You had the analysis and the belief!

I had a cheeky tenner on Demons over 40 points at $5.50 - also had a tenner on each of Petracca, Oliver, Gawn, Viney for the Norm so my $75 return paid for the block mounted premiership poster I bought haha

I had a solid bet on the dees @ 5.50 to win the flag after the dogs beat us in round 19 because I knew from that point our odds would drop every week.

We started 1.60. Resisted the urge to lay off. Well, to be honest didn't really seriously consider it.

Backed tracc and Oliver to win the Norm Smith.

Icing on a sweet cake.

I can just imagine Goody telling May to come off and May just running away from the bench, fingers in his ears, going “I can’t hear you”.
We play fair. Other clubs would have fudged an injury report.
Young JJ has a long career ahead of him. He will be ok.

When ANB kicked the goal in the fourth it all came out. I knew we couldn’t lose and after doing 6000 steps during the game, I just dropped to my knees and cried. I knew it was ours and it was such a relief.
Then I just really enjoyed the rest of the game. But cried again when Gawny and Goodwin held up the cup. At that stage I had already had a few quick glasses of champagne and the buzz was real.

I had the big rush of excitement and emotion when Gawn kicked the goal after the siren in round 23.

I watched this section of the game 5 or 6 times last night haha. Bontempelli was off for the first Petracca clearance, but was then head to head with him for the rest of that patch. He couldn't stop him. It was glorious.

I wondered whether they had started to relax a fraction after Bontempelli's 3rd goal.  19 pts up and the 3/4 time siren just 5-7 away.  The Cup within reach.

In those 5-7 minutes it was all 'Shock and Awe' and we piled on 7 goals.  It broke them.

As Beveridge said, in the blink of an eye it was all but over.

I think the thing that should scare opposition teams the most is so little time it takes us to take the game away from you, even against the other top teams. To score 100pts in one and a half quarters against the other grand final team is crazy!
We were in a really tough spot halfway through the third and it really looked like we were in big trouble, only to pretty much flick a switch and we completely obliterated the dogs from that moment on!
Same thing happened against Geelong after halftime, although we still seemed to have their measure for the whole first half.

Not hollow, but bittersweet not being able to share it in person with the mates that I normally go to the footy with - texts going back and forth, but not quite the same. Afterwards I wondered if this is what's it's like to be looking on from above?  Being able to observe it but not quite touch it.

Saying that, the photos coming through from WA Demons really helps with the connection. Please keep up the good work.

Being able to share it with others wasn't what made it hollow for me, but that was my sister's reasoning. I think I was hollow because I'd dreamt of a Melbourne premiership for 34 years and when we'd finally won one, I struggled for a new reference point or goal.

Yep, that's it. I was nervous because I knew we were the better team. As the game ended, I simply relaxed.

My analytical head said we’d win easily. My Melbourne supporting battered and scarred heart said we’d lose. I’m not a betting man, but did seriously consider putting $10 on us at 40+ and $10 of the doggies.

I was in shock for the last 35 mins, covering the last bit of the 3rd and the 4th quarter.

I guess I never knew what it be like to win one and it must have been years of scarring but I didn’t think we’d actually won it till we went 50 odd points up( might have been Frittas 5th)

Id always expected tears on the realisation I would see it, but I didn’t. Two friends of Krystal Petrevski were sitting in front of me and we were high fiving every goal. They told me they were new supporters because of Krystal, they both had her #31 on and during the game I explained the significance of the number to Demon supporters b

When the siren went and I started to sing the song that’s when the emotion hit and the tears flowed, one of the girls turned to high five me and it was like an acknowledgment of ‘ this is what it means to be a long suffering supporter” she just said congratulations mate you look like you earned this, you enjoy it.

It was a great moment

The second half of the third quarter will quickly become part of MFC folklore.  It won't be long before we all know the order and details of all those 7 goals by heart.  As someone who has dreamed of witnessing perfect footy (often to my own detriment of enjoying the less than perfect), that was as close to perfect as could be imagined.  My kids and I were in absolute ecstasy.

I think it was Norm Smith who used to say in a perfect game of footy you should be able to kick a goal every 6 seconds. Ruckman taps to rover, rover kicks to full forward, full forward goals. We may not have kicked a goal every 6 seconds on Saturday but at the end of the 3rd we gave it a bloody good shake!!

Refrained from posting anything here, as I was trying to process it all. I agree with others that the feeling at the end was different to what I had expected. I think we felt removed from the celebration. I’d always imagined an outpouring of emotion from our long suffering fans. It wasn’t possible to collectively experience that. The next day was one of the best in my life. The realisation set in. We’d done it. We are the best team in the league. It’s a special feeling.

I don’t think it’ll really hit us all until the boys are home with the cup and we gather as a supporter group to watch them lift that magnificent cup. I can’t wait for that day.

for now, it’s the replay for the next three months!!! Go you Dees!

Twice kicking 3 goals in less than 60 seconds. In the same quarter. In a bloody Grand Final. Already legendary.

The Prez hinted that they might do a full replay at some stage. My preference would be as the curtain raiser at our first home game at the G next year just before they raise the flag. Including a lap of honour for Jonesy and Jetta (if he also retires).

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
