Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just a quick post match review comment.

I'm hoping the dees came back from the dead narrative does not take hold, as I fear it might.

I loved daisy's work, brilliant. And kudos to 7 for giving her much more air time. And even credit to bt for deferring to her often.

But I think she got it wrong in the third declaring we were looking shakey and desperately needed a goal just for confidence.

We had a poor second quarter. The simple reason why was that they smashed us in contested ball. It was not surprising they lifted their rating but it was really surprising we dropped off. And they were clearly on top.

But despite them getting the first goal in the third (early) we were matching them in contested ball and had clearly got the game back into the shape we like it to look like. It was back to  contest to contest. We had stopped their transition game. And stopped them flicking it around. And stopped allowing unpressured kicks by the like of daniels. We were back grinding.

And 3 goals is nothing for a team that had proven its ability all season to score super quickly and multiplegoals in bursts.. We had done exactly that in our previous three games for Pete's sakes. Against quality opposition. Wasn't anyone watching?

We were by far the most potent team over the last part of the season, having averaged 100.5 points in our previous 6 games (that average has jumped up to 106!).

Of course I was nervous half way though the third. But I thought all of the above watching live. And my thoughts were reinforced when watching the replay.

And good lord. When we lifted our rating, when we did flex, it was incredible. They simply could not go with us. No team could.

This is what it is all about

if Clarry had won the Norm it would have been fine

They were both amazing

I thought Clarry struggled for quite a bit of the game actually. Started well, but was smothered 2 or 3 times in the first quarter and then struggled to get into the game in in second and most of the third quarter until we went berserk.

I said earlier in the year Oliver was a better player. I was wrong. They're just different players.

Yesterday though, Petracca was the Norm Smith medallist by quite a way IMO. Fritsch for his goal tally was a distant second.

Not only did Petracca kick big goals, including the first to settle some nerves after some early misses, he was so explosive from stoppage at the end of that third quarter.

Given the stakes, Petracca's game is the best individual Melbourne performance I think I've ever seen.

Can't find the video.  Jonathan Brown was glowing of the courage Brayshaw showed in his diving mark.  Brown was one of the most courageous to don footy boots.  He could pay no greater compliment than praise courage.

Helps explain why his teammates voted him the 'most courageous'

For most of the regular season our kicking for goal was poor. Then as you say it improved come finals time. And when you really really need it in a GF 11 straight. 11 straight will break the very best sides. We also had a very good run with injuries this year.

But most of all we WON and did not fall in, a 12 goal belting.

Gus also got crunched multiple times in our defensive half of the ground pushing back to help our defenders. Seemed anytime the Dogs went forward in the third he was there to help out.

I wonder how many  honestly thought we were going to lose at some point.

I am guilty as charged and feel ashamed for the lack of faith.

We have comeback so many times this year and always finished strong.

But that finish was incredible. It was like the dogs were spectators.

The centre clearances over the touted best midfield was entertainment par excellence.

I think I agree. BTW we both saw RDB live.

Not disagreeing, but that 3rd Quarter Turn around was Clarry and Trac (and Luke) working together. Without that we don’t win.
Don’t forget Clarry took a heavy knock early

Was he directly on him a lot? Saw Bowey shake hands with Treloar at the start. Then saw him out body Bailey Smith in a marking contest too. And was sat on by JJ for that hanger obviously. But certainly was on Weightman a lot including a number of crucial contests late.

175cm. Just turned 19. Predominantly played wing and half forward as a junior. Missed the whole year last year from covid. Interrupted VFL season. What a story.

His quick hands, reading of the player, ability to compete in the air for a small, so much to like. And he's still just getting a taste and hasn't really had a huge chance to do what he does best which is chop a game up with his kicking.

I think Rivers had him at stages too.

Yeah, I don't doubt Clarry's hit from Bontempelli took a bit out of him. Said so at the time. Also said he was likely to get off the chain at some point and sure enough he worked his way back into the game like the champion that he is.

And don't forget Viney. I've been a long time critic, but he's a brilliant finals player.

Can I suggest that it was Clarry who started the whole shebang with a blistering 1st quarter. His stoppage and link up work for the rest of the game was phenomenal. His quick hands and deft disposals set play up. His great inspirational goal just stamped his undeniable class and grunt which benefitted the team. Agree with summation of Tracc, that was one of the most complete performances of any grand final

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
