Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Tom McDonald Re-Signs Until 2024

If you told me this time last year that TMac would earn a new 3 year deal i would have said you were stark raving mad. I can't think of another player who has ever turned their career around to such a degree. So lucky that no other club showed any interest. With BB and the Weid getting injured like they did in preseason we would have been stuffed without him this year

Kudos to you TMac. You proved me well and truly wrong.

The reason I have enormous respect for Tom isn’t that he turned it around - it’s that he didn’t just think of it as ‘getting his confidence back’, but instead worked on specific attributes that would make him a more valuable player in the modern game. Listening to him talk about training for mobility, and changing the focus of his strength, he makes you realise that he’s a complete professional, who understands what the game requires at the top level. I really wish him well over the coming years.

Surprised by this.

Maybe it shows that there are not many options around who the club feel could fill his role in this current "window"

Or maybe he is playing exactly the role that is being asked of him.

Oh well, good luck TMAC. Hope it's 3 good years to come.

I trust the club, but am surprised by this, I would have traded Tmac before Weid, not saying that this happens. but I think we could have got good value for Tom. I worry that after 2022 all our spine is pretty old, lots of youth in the smalls not so much in the KPP. Brown, Tmac, May, Gawn. Can Petty or Tomlinson become a FB? I can't see Petty/Tomlinson as a CHF/FF in 2023 either (but then the FD has well and truly earnt my trust).

I’m pumped, I still remember waking the house up when he kicked the ball over his head against West Coast in 2018. (I think it was 2018….) Some of his performances during the opening rounds of this season were massive and helped pave the way for where we find ourselves next weekend.

I think we are fine, our age profile is great across the board. Petty can absolutely be the next May in a couple of years and Lever is only around 25.

I’m wrapped about this, TMac is a key pillar in our forward line and, as a few have said, this is almost certainly a win/win giving him some certainty and us some salary cap smoothing.

Will admit to being greedy , I want both, and don't get me wrong I love Tmac and have defended him long and hard.

Jones is the only player on our list to have played 200 games. His 200th was in late-2015.

Bernie Vince played his 200th game for us in 2017, but obviously they weren't all with us.

I think, prior to Jones, the last MFC player to get to 200 games for the club was Brad Green in 2010.

Melksham is on 197 but may not get there.

Bloody brilliant news.

TMac is an absolute professional to come back this year and perform given the club wanted to trade him last year.

Well done TMac now for the big one.

GO DEES

I love the reality of these five simple words.  Goodwin and his coaches will have our boys running through brick walls come saturday week.  You little beauty.

The MFC might have to take some accountability for that, wasn't he told to bulk up so he could play as a big strong fwd? In doing so lost one of his key skills in his running capacity?

Each game they play I see Tmac and BBrwon as a natural and complimentary duo. Bot with different characteristics.

Ben Brown is a bit mechanical in his movements, so that's probably a fair comment.

I was in Fiji for work when he signed his last contract, I think I driving to work listening to a podcast and just so pumped thinking about how good he and OMac and the rest of the team were going places... fast fwd I'm sitting in the home office in the dingy second bedroom/home office pumped for us to win a flag.

I've admired Tommy since before he was drafted bacause of his absolute desire to play AFL football, he worked his backside off, travelling long distances to train and play.

Good on you Tommy. you showed em.

I agree Dante, and for this reason I suspect that TMac has played an important part in building the 'culture' that is so important to where we now sit as a team.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
