Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It they have curfews all year then I've got no problem with it. But if they are bringing it in for the granny, then it's a minor concern for me. Particularly given it's not even Grand Final week yet. Obviously the club has done a great job so far and I assume they know what they're doing, but I hope they're not asking the players to be "on" for the whole two weeks.

On a different note, the players have said how much they feel for us supporters in lockdown and missing out on sharing the finals with them.  I like to think that being back by 9.00pm (Melb curfew time) shows a bit of empathy for our plight. While unlikely it makes me feel better that they are staying focused.

I would be very disappointed if we didn't tell the player they had to be back in the resort at reasonable time. I am sure we also have a "no sinking mountains of beer" policy pre grand final. What a dictatorship.

A total nothing story!

This is a bit worrisome, every one remembers crows in 2017 stern faces all round and got pumped, need to let the players have a life and not get to wound up this far out. Still got another 9 days to go.

They don't call the Crows 'fruit loops' for no reason.

9pm is completely reasonable in terms of setting an expectation. The boys no doubt have plenty of rec time up their sleeves, being back at the hotel by 9 shouldn’t be onerous. They’re there to get a job done, maintaining standards and discipline is part of that.

Pert said it’s not even being strictly enforced anyway. What a beatup.

Totally.

I used to watch every episode of FC, never missed it. Stopped early last season because it is just rubbish now.

So i don't know if it was discussed it in more detail than the 3 minute twitter clip.

But they seemed to completely ignore the point Lloyd was trying to make about the fact they have been in Perth for a few weeks now and will have developed well established routines.

It makes perfect sense to keep following those routines given how successful they have been.

Its what they would have done even at home in Melbourne - ie in the next two weeks fellas we want you to get 8 hours sleep, bed early, up early etc etc. And fellas for god's sake avoid night clubs

Was disappointed that Caro said we are banning our players from the media. Said on the same day Salem is on all the channels news and  AFL tonight. Harmes was on the Sunday footy show and Max, Tracc  and others have done plenty of media. Cheap shot I thought.

Then again no flag in 57 years and media want 24 hour access to the team. Yeah sure.

Wilson should be at the Woman's Weekly  nothing but gossip and politics from this hack

This has got to be the biggest beat up ever. the facility is 30 minutes from the CBD, meaning they've got plenty of time to go out and grab dinner or whatever they want to do, no doubt the club isn't going to lash them if they're 10 minutes late.

but i think it's a good rule in general, prevent the young guys from having a sesh or anything stupid.

Caro, who i have a lot of time for, is just creating non story here. Which is ok.

The club has said its not curfew. She said as much. it is an expectation. A reasonable one at that.

So to call it a curfew becuase 'the players' (implying the playing group) have called it a curfew is a classic beat up.

What 'players' have said it is a curfew? Maybe one or two in interviews, but c'mon.

And what nonsense from Lyon. I'll bet London to a brick the Saints team he coached to a premiership appearance had all sorts of rules they had to follow.

Or maybe they didn't, an as result some players prepared poorly  and that is a reason they failed to win  the GF or the GF replay.

I would think, as professional sportsmen, the 24 or 25 players in the mix to be in the 23 on the day, would be adopting this attitude anyway. The curfew is probably more directed at the 13 others. So the club wants everyone on the same wavelength. Totally committed to the cause is what I am taking out of this. The likes of the Caroline Wilson’s of this world, so want us to fail. Well, guess what Caro, start writing about horse racing.

The best night out in Perth was the Cottesloe Hotel on a Sunday afternoon, it was great because it shut at 9pm not sure if that is still the case.  Straight off the beach when the Doctor came in into the beer garden home before 9.30pm.

The last thing both the Dogs and Dees want is anyone from their clubs getting into any trouble before the GF.  You have snipers out there that would love to film any player or official out and about doing the wrong thing

WJ I'm a fan of Caro and always have been. She's one of the very few journo's that gets more right then wrong.

But it really is a nothing story.

Sam McClure jumped in last night after the story broke out and said he was at training yesterday and stated he couldn't believe how happy the boys were joking around and being jovial.

Gary Pert was on SEN and pretty much confirmed there were no issues with it.

It's clickbait rubbish because there is nothing else to talk about in the week off.

Granted she gets more right than wrong but there are some exceptions. She often gets it wrong on matters to do with Melbourne and for some reasons is often not strong on Richmond. On this story, she got it terribly wrong.

Was shaking my head in complete disbelief when I watched this last night.

Just a real nothing story.

Yep, some are not enjoying the fact that the Dees are in the GF.

CW has never been one to get onboard the Dees. Of course she is going to try and rock the boat. Obviously she is not achieving her goal, so is trying to play her hand on the national stage. Getting a bit desperate there Caro.

As for Ross Lyon, he’s probably upset that the spotlight is no longer on him.

Haters gonna hate.

Two weeks of media trying to find a story. Strap in.  It is going to be a s%$t show

This was my take on it. There wouldn’t have been a ‘story’ if we had the normal one week off before the GF. Unfortunately the media will need to find stories to cover for the extra time.

Id rather the entire team live between the resort and the training oval anyway.

Imagine one gets a cold from some snot-nosed lolly gobbler while out and about.

Stay safe Dees. We have a flag to win.

Wilson's take on Neale and his situation was grossly over the top, the whole show is now terrible and very hard to watch.

The only really watchable section last night was John Bertrand

What he had to say was great. I would be showing that to players…

Eddie also dropped a bombshell news story that Melbourne won’t be coming back immediately after the GF, instead electing to celebrate the win ((hopefully ) and take holidays in a state that doesn’t have COVID or severe restrictions.

That news rattled me. I thought the club would be on the red eye after the GF and celebrate in VICTORIA…. via ZOOM.

Good idea to stay over there, stay the whole 6 weeks before preseason, they can have a family day over there too

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
