Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

To make me feel better, can anyone mount a case why playing the Dogs is better for us than Port (if they had shown up?

Port have a far superior forward line than the Dogs. The biggest worry heading in would be the smalls. Port also have the better defence over the dogs.

We cover the dogs in both the fwd + backline. If the mids can at least break even we should win.

Important to keep in check are:

Naughton - May or Petty

Libba - Harmes (hard tag at contest then run off him)

Smith - Brayshaw

Daniel - ANB (or Spargo)

We have plenty of weapons that they will also have to counter.

We didn’t tag Bont last time, he murdered us. I wouldn’t say no to first bounce Trac goes next to him but either way there needs to be a plan.

The big thing they did which every team who beat us did was not allow our defenders the chance to mark. They are very good at the fall of the ball in the forward line.

We will be favourites but I see it as line ball. Dogs have their bite back.

Without trying to sound cheesy

"The harder the fight, the bigger the prize."

Dogs have been as good as us all year until a 3 week blip.

This will be our hardest fight. But i'm confident we will knock them down.

They do? Dogs forward line is [censored] grim

Where do I start? Aaron Naughton v Charlie Dixon to kick things off. Then you've got Cody Weightman returning. They're not world beters but Port forwards were bordering on fraudulent tonight.

I distinctly remember being unworried by the dogs after that game. Everything went right for them and still we almost got them. Anything can happen in a GF but we should go in with a lot of confidence.

They got us good that game and were the better team on the night. The umpiring and our inaccuracy sucked that night but the Dogs were good.

Lead from start to finish and deserved the win.

Same as the Geelong game , we have to win the scores from clearances and at least break even on centre bounce clearances.
The back line will do their job .

The long arms and big frame of Benny Brown will be hard for the dogs to counter but Nibbler , Kozzie and Spargo have to put Dale and Daniel under heaps of pressure.

Itll be a ballistic game

Will this be a repeat of 1954???Smith had resurrected the Demons, the doggies won their first flag.

Oi weh, here's hoping history does not repeat.

'The season opened with a loss, and Melbourne barely scraped into the finals with a last round win against South Melbourne despite having a percentage below a hundred. They then pulled off a shock victory against North Melbourne in the Semi Final before pulling off an even bigger upset in the Preliminary Final to send minor premiers Geelong out of the finals in straight sets.'

That was 1954...

If  history were to repeat and we lost this one but went on to win 5 of the next 6 and snagged another 4 years after that, then I’d have no problems dropping this one.

All of us Demons are conflicted now. Of course we want to win in 2 weeks and break our drought but it wasn’t supposed to be like this. I was overseas in 2000 and promised myself after that that I would never be in a position where I could have to miss a MFC GF again.  I have dreamed about this all my life. I have planned GF week - going to training, seeing the parade, meeting up with family before and after the game and just being there!

Stat wise it was very even that second game. If memory serves me right we got murdered by the umps and d50 stoppages and inaccuracy in front.

update: 11 - 25 free kick count.

2-10 last Quarter.

Same number of scoring shots too. We failed to make the most of our opportunities and they got some dubious free in front of goal. Most notable was the free for holding the ball against Brayshaw

I 100% agree with this.

There’s no sugar coating this - the Victorian MFC people ranging from Demon Royalty (Barassi, Daniher, Neitz) to the rank and file member with a GF guarantee membership have been robbed the opportunity of a life time thanks to COVID and a couple of NSW removalists.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
