Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What a good feeling to wake up to. I have, in almost 70 years following this Club, never seen such an impressive performance. Superlatives don’t exist to describe the dominance of Max. It would have to be one of the best ever finals game by a ruckman. He is becoming a Legend, not only of our Club, but the  AFL. It was great to see the disillusionment of Gary Lyon melt away and for him to reconnect as a fan and a great past player. It feels like the shackles of the past have finally been broken and a prolonged period of success wakes.

Oh Captain, My Captain - rise up, for you the flag is flung, for you the bugle trills

Max and Trac will rightfully get the kudos as the best players but l think we should acknowledge Petty and Bowser  for outstanding games. They were incredible.

Viney too was amazing, built for finals

Power at a dollar twenty

Dogs at three dollars and fifteen.

Will be tough for dogs at a ferral home game but dogs odds seem attractive.

Not sure why port are that big a favorite.

Apart from gws the dogs were the only finalist to beat us so they are underrated.

As for Max, that is one of the all time great finals games.

It’s one thing to be recognised as a great player but not every great player has a game that opposition fans will remember and talk about for generations. Max just chalked up one of those games.

It’s a strange one for Melbourne fans when you hear and read people saying, “gee, how good is Max Gawn?”. Like it’s some kind of awakening.

Yes, we know.

That’s why we laugh at the NicNat comparisons.

That’s why the All Australian captaincy selection was an obvious one.

The dude is an out and out superstar.

He is, by a long, long way, the best ruckman in the game.

How was Max's goal from 60m

A drink spilling, throw your infant child off your lap, fist pumping, spittle flying, veins in neck popping, lose your mind type of moment wasn't it?

Then he did it again.  And again,  And again. And again.

I know right? He’s every bit as good a pick up as Rivers. Did he make a single mistake last night? I don’t recall one.

P - Man, probably a discussion for next year but I could see Bowey eventually moving into a midfield role. He's a reminder to me of how great kicks and decision makers can transform a side.

186 atoned!

On nearly the biggest stage possible!

Awesome!

If we win it from here, I will believe what my grandmother always told me, that everything happens for a reason. We don’t know the reason until many weeks/months/years later, she used to say.

In 1980 I chose to follow Melbourne. Richmond, Carlton, Collingwood, Hawthorn and North were the popular choices. Dad was a North fan but there was something about our jumper (Royal blue at the time) which drew me.

1987 - 34 years later I still haven’t got over that and whenever I hear the commentators call of Bucke#*?#, I still get flashbacks.

The Swooper years I loved, we were tough and honest

1988 & 2000, I never thought we’d win either.

The Daniher years, so close on many occasions but not quite good enough.

186, 147 the period of 2012/13 and the long road back. Sitting through 2018 Preliminary and living in Perth in the aftermath. The letdown of 2019 and followed by COVID when things started to come good again.

At no stage have we dropped off or lost our passion for the club. We are certainly resilient and must be the most deserving group of supporters, here’s hoping the 57 year wait only has 14 days to go

I don't post on here often but I just have to say that was bloody amazing !!  Still feel like I am floating on air

So proud of our club !! From where we have to been to now is unbelievable and you can just tell that they are still so focussed on what is to come.

My late grandfather was recruited to the Dees back in the 40's or 50s but never got the chance to play as he did his knee and then his father put a stop to his career to work. As a young kid would I go to the footy with my best mate and his family  and loved the whole experience of getting to the G and seeing  Schwarz , Lyon, Tingay , Neitz , Farmer  etc, etc do their thing !

Sadly my best mate tragically passed away at aged 13, we both loved the Dees, and I know he will be smiling from above today !

I have lurked on Demonland since 2007 and I've constantly loved the discussions, humour and debates on all matter of topics, even when the only thing to get truly excited about the impending arrival of a new coach or early draft pick. So Thank you to all the contributors who make it happen.

I was at the ground for 186, and 148 against the Bombers at the G, so have seen the darkest of times ! In those times I use to just pray for a competitive performance.  But to be a Melbourne Supporter and member today feels incredible. The work the whole club as done to turn things around off field and on field is just fantastic.

Sad not be able to attend the GF. But lets hope the boys bring it home 👊🔴🔵

Unreal.

It's just incredible that this is us doing this.

The plaudits will rightfully come for Gawn (Naitanui can go [censored] a [censored], tonight put to bed any "debate" about who is the competition's best ruckman), Viney, Petracca and Oliver, but this was a 22-player effort.

Langdon's run on the wing was far too much for their wingers. Brown's contested marking was critical, particularly early when the nerves were high (and another quiet two goals). Brayshaw looked composed. Spargo was a threat all night. May went down but Petty stood up. Hibberd played his role.

That third quarter. That rush of goals. Gawn playing like Dustin Martin.

It was just, well, perfect.

And never mind that our opponent happened to be the most arrogant, smug pack of [censored]s. That just tops it all off.

How about these stats for Langdon. More than 50% more sprint efforts than the next best person on the ground.

@DemonJack 14 I'm so impressed with the way this club is keeping everyone included. The badges at the ground, the ticketing info, embracing the WA bandwagon, it's so good. Would love to be at the G for the granny but it's just not meant to be.

I really didn't think Goodwin was up to the task last year. I wrote an angry email to Gary Pert after that Port Adelaide debacle.
Geez was I wrong.

I feel bad for the likes of Jetta and Jones on just missing out on this opportunity.
It is so impressive how the footy department and club has kept the whole squad together and part of this thing.
To see every player over there and singing the team song together as one big team was just fantastic.
I feel so proud of this footy club today.

Win or lose the Granny, I'm going to have to send Gary another email thanking the club for the way they've navigated through these strange times and just delivered in spades for us this year.

The dark times have made the success this year so much sweeter.

Once again,  now for the 29th time out of the past 33 PF's,  the QF winner beat the QF loser.

Port are rightfully clear favourites. $1.20 is too long IMO

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
