Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Deserved another chance. He’s taken his bad year on the chin and ready to move on to right things. If delisted I’m sure some another club would have picked him up cheaply and got a bargain.

Strange.

Ben Brown signed for four years with us and TMac extended his deal for 2 more. There’s our key forwards set for two years (unless one loses form).

I can’t see him getting a game in the back line (especially with Tomlinson coming back).

Dogga has back up ruck nailed down.

Are there moves going on behind the scenes regarding other players we don’t know about? All the credit in the world to the kid to back himself to get back into the starting 22, but a little bit more clarity to the logic of the move besides the typical guff about ‘loving the club’ would be nice.

Credit to him, hasn’t had the year he hoped for but I don’t think even our most optimistic supporters would have anticipated the year we have had.

I think his unfortunate timing with the injury was the only thing that stopped him being a big contributor this year.

As others have mentioned, there is no chance we remain injury free again in 2022, this year has been extraordinary on that front. He will get chances, let’s hope he grabs them and our three KPF’s push each other to continue on in 2022

Wasn't far off.
Missed a few shots which opened the door.
Could see in his face he knew he was letting his chance slip to Brown.
If Brown or Tmac drop off for whatever reason Weid will be there play his role.
Obviously loves the environment if he's willing to take a pay cut rather than chase more coin elsewhere.

He is there to cover injuries or form slumps. Him being there puts pressure on Brown and Tmac to perform or they lose their spot. This is a good thing for the club.

Schache playing in the GF and Marshall played last week in the PF, but no interest in Weid - world has gone crazy ....

12 months ago we couldn’t give TMac or ANB away and we picked up Ben Brown from the $2 bin. The footy world has no imagination. If the stock market was as volatile as football player value, the world would go in to a GFC every other day.

@Colin B. FlaubertFrom the sounds of it the good options were drying up so it was down to him throwing himself into the DFA market place or going for a bit of certainty and back himself to force his way in. For us, it gives us coverage and the knowledge that if one of Tommy or BBB have a form slump we can have Sam breathing down their necks to take their spot. If he’s signed on for a lower wage as well then it’s low risk. There’s been far worse than Sam we’ve kept on the list.

$2 bin.  Isn't he on $400k+?

The best thing that could have happened to Schache was give him a run behind the ball to get him some easy pill and a bit of confidence up.  I often wonder why we have never given Sam some development as a defender.

Schache went ok in defence and someone like Liam Jones has found his niche back there so I see no reason why Sam couldn't become a roll player here.

It's clearly a tough gig getting the ball bombed on your head and continually getting out numbered as a forward.  Weitering tried up forward and looked ordinary, Moore has had his moments good and bad, Harris-Andrews gets lost up there.

So maybe going back and being one of those extra numbers would assist him.  Plus if he's not confident in the jukes he can just go the almighty fist.  I struggle to believe there are a lot of key defenders in the comp with more talent than Sam.

I'd like to see the club developing this side of his game as well.

Hard to see the powers-that-be disrupting a very solid defensive unit by “experimenting” with Sam as a defender, especially if Tomlinson is fit and ready at the start of preseason.

I feel that Sam needs to continue to work on his marking confidence, which was good prior to 2019.  Something went wrong: was it just mental, just physical or a combination?  I trust our club to help him through this.

Petty and Smith would be good options up forward.

Petty has in my mind secured his place this year,to the surprise of many, in our defensive unit, and is heir apparent to Steve May as FB.

Smith, if he ever regains and retains physical fitness, could be a Jack of all trades.

Good work Sam. No need to rush his development or make him feel under pressure now that we have Ben Brown. It’s a smart move.

I think he'll playa lot of senior footy next year. Remember Tom was going to play wing so maybe next yr he does and Weed plays CHF.

TMc on wing?  In lieu of Brayshaw or Langdon?  🙄

I would be surprised.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
