Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Beveridge needs to stop whinging.  He is now 'warning' Port to not target Bontempelli's knee or their will be 'retribution'!

Why flag the severity of the injury.  If he isn't fit to withstand a bump or two, targeted or not, then don't play him.

He is beginning to sound as rattled as Scott does.

Welcome to the grand final Port

Absolute joke of a state.

The State where the CHO warned fans not to touch the ball if it came over the fence. Especially yuo folk behind the goals.

A billion dollar industry deserves better treatment prior to a prelim. SA Premier AWOL - again.

Not a dogs issue, just generally unfair and disrespectful. Absolutely no risk given the quarantine processes in place.

Oh, and thanks for giving us Covid SA BTW due to your hotel failure earleir this year.

One wonders why they didn't negotiate some outdoor time before leaving Perth.

They had the same restriction in Brisbane but before leaving Launceston they negotiated a trip to an oval on landing in Brisbane and then free movement between their floors in the hotel.  As it is they get no fresh air for nearly two days:  Perth hotel, Bus, Plane, Bus, Hotel.  Game time.  As much as I dislike the Bulldogs this is pretty rough on them.

I wonder if it was an oversight to negotiate something like Brisbane.

Port massive favorites at $1.20 and dogs 3.17

I get the home advantage but dogs beat them there early in the season by twenty points and only just lost by a couple in their second encounter at Marvel.

Still dont think port are that strong a chance.

Dogs just missed top four by smallest %.

Will be close and not what these odds suggest.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if dogs get up.

Port a good team remind me of geelong who rely on wins at their home ground to carry them into the eight each year.

Personally i would prefer port in a granny but im not sure it will happen.

Hard to put money on the bulldogs.  They have injuries, been travelling and in quarantine for 3 weeks, limited training and no bye.

Hope the punters are right.  Don't want to play bulldogs in the gf.

Tassie, quarantine in Brisbane, to WA before heading to Adelaide.

Meanwhile Port have had an easy 3 weeks at home. Hope Port get up, as they will have to experience travelling (though 2 weeks prep and no quarantine helps)

I can’t see what happened last night happening tonight, dogs bring their best they win but they’ve been off the boil and Port have had the crucial week off.

I can see the Dogs getting off to a fast start but then being pegged back for a comfortable win to Port but I got they beat the holy hell out of each other.

I think I'd rather face Port. For a few reasons. I'd feel more confident beating them and we have beaten them earlier and yes they would be travelling, we could hold there forward line, if we did happen to lose at least I wouldn't have to be in Adelaide reading about it like if the bulldogs won it would be smashed in our faces.

On the other hand the dogs are banged up and if the bont was to hurt his knee further that would be massive.

Seems most would prefer to play Port in the GF.

It would be interesting to see a poll on which team people would prefer to win tonight (casting aside all prejudices and viewed only by who you'd prefer in the GF). Maybe one before the match and another one afterwards.

Would you rather play an absolute full strength and well rested Port Adelaide who have a clearly stronger side than the last time we played them (Gray, Durrsma, a fit Butters) and are clearly on a mission this year after choking at home last year?

Or a Bulldogs side that has traveled all over the place, has their leading goal kicker on the sidelines, arguably the best player in the league under an injury cloud and possibly their premier defender still on the sidelines.

Pretty easy answer I wouldn’t thought.

Port will run away with this in the second half as the season will have caught up with the tired Dogs who have done an obscene amount of travelling lately.

I think the Dogs would give us more trouble than Port in the GF, that being said our boys shouldn’t fear either side

If Bont is over his knee problem, Keith is back in the side and Stef Martin is match fit than I agree they could be an issue in the GF.

However, too many ifs with the Dogs at the moment and Port are humming along nicely with a healthy squad that hasn’t needed to quarantine recently.

Port have struggled and choked badly, every time this year their ball carriers and main kickers were under constant pressure. And players like Dixon, Fantasia, Motlop and Marshall can severely under-perform in big moments.

Bulldogs have also struggled to absorb opposition pressure at times, but have a much better record of winning close pressure-cooker games. They are seriously undermanned with Bruce, Weightman and Keath out which is going to make it difficult.

Port goes in heavy favourites but there is something about the Doggies that tells me they are going to make this very tough for Port.

I know what you mean, but the Dogs scare me more.

If they make it, they get the week off to rest, they'll get back Keath and Weightman, and they will have less pressure on them than Port, who like us haven't won it for ages and have some older players desperate for success (Boak, Gray, Dixon, Jonas etc.).

Don't get me wrong, Port are a strong side, but I fear the Dogs more.

Take your point about the weeks rest.

An absolute advantage to the Dogs should they make it. Similar to how they blessed with the bye week between round 23 2016 and week 1 finals.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
