Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Cameron gave him a bath. What were you watching?

Smith has potential and an athletic profile that you'd kill for.

But that's it. His defensive positioning and football IQ is not there. That was evident against Cameron on multiple occasions.

I was watching our round 23 game against the cats Jimmy.

To be honest, I'd actually back Hibberd to play on Cameron.

Cameron isn't a pack marking beast,  but more so a roaming 3rd tall. Hibberd would easily match him for body strength and also at ground level and on the lead.

He's giving up 10cm in height but rarely do opposition forwards are left one on one in our defensive structure

I'd back Hibberd in.

Cameron is a supreme runner and is not a contest orientated forward - that is Hawkins's job. He will look to work into the wings and flanks and out work his opponent. Not saying Hibbered cannot play the role, but we need somebody  outside D50 to take the matchup because i dont think Hibberd can stay with him all day (if that is the matchup of course).

Don’t mind this. Petty would easily hold Sav. And if Hibbo can hold Cameron, Lever is free to do his thing.

Or if Hibbo can hold him inside 50, are we content with Cameron getting possessions on the wings & flanks, where he will do less damage?

Hibberd doesn't have to go with him up field. We've shown time and time again this year that we are happy for our forwards to drift higher up the field because this leaves the extra defender in Lever in May to sit back.

Watching the replay T Mac did very little and he must be under consideration. Logically the replacement is Melksham or for those who are contrarian thinkers perhaps Weid or Mitch Brown (if fit).

Cannot forget that Goodwin dropped Fritsch for our last PF after a win.

You can put your house on it that TMac plays …watching on TV does not give you a complete gist of the game. TMac plays & after an average 1st game back after a debilitating back injury he could be a massive plus player this week ..

That and some bloke had the ball after a dodgy free kick with 34 seconds to go and kicked it out of bounds 😂

I admire your optimism.

But for some it’s more of an issue here. Not to get too personal, but my uncle (a lifelong demon fan) has terminal cancer. We know that this will definitely be his last grand final (we’re really hoping he makes it to Christmas.) My dad is not in the best health either.

For many demonland fans here, time is running out. This may be the last chance for a few of us. If not, I’m sure I have a few here have relatives that don’t have a lot of time left.

Many people see that chances don’t always come around. Seasons 1989 and 2001 proved that. If we don’t make the best of this, we may not get a better chance and this is by far the best chance we’ve had since 1964. If we don’t win it, this may have been the one chance to win that we lost.

I’m certainly not going to do anything drastic if we lose, but there will plenty of tears in my eyes and I will be inconsolable for days

I totally understand. It must be the same how the old South Melbourne supporters felt thinking the swans would never win another premiership.

Hopefully for your uncle (and all of us) Maxy does get to lift the cup on the 25th.

I felt so sorry for Fritsch but when you look at the replay of the Hawks final his game was mistake -ridden and they chose to go with Smith for soem reason - maybe that???

Not anymore - Fritsch is a gun now as a 3rd tall.

There's no doubt they are trying to put the pressure on us after our last PF. All their talk is centred on it. They have played in 11 of the last 15 prelims  but their finals record is really poor since Scott won the flag in his first year in 2011.. Make no mistake, if Geelong lose the monkey on their back will be massive.

But it wont work. We're a well drilled unit and if you go back to all our big games this year we have been 'under the pump' in all of them.

  • Rd 4 against Geelong
  • Rd 6 Richmond on Anzac Eve
  • Rd 11 The Dogs at Marvel
  • Rd 12  & Final The lions
  • Rd 17 Prt at Adelaide
  • Rd 21 v West Coast at Optus
  • Rd 23 v Geelong at Kardinia

Our system gives the team belief. We have been building our 'big game' form and are relaxed and rested with a full list.

The pressure is all on geelong that is 1-4 in the last 5 prelims. Scott is trying to avert that pressure on to us.

It won't work

Really concise positive thoughtful loveable post. Thanks.

While your posts are elite, this is just another example of pointless clout chasing. I mean if you know something then why not name the player?

Stop being a wally.

If he has mail great - I am happy he's posted it.

Thats why we have these forums. If he's trolling he'll be found out.

As it turns out he's on the money. Very happy he didnt name the player, Its finals week and its not his position to do that,

I think the break from playing will have done Hibbo the world of good, he is a very good player on his day who had a couple of down weeks this season. I think he'll be fitter and faster after spending some time with Burgo and co, hopefully the fumbles have gone as well.

To be fair though while Hibs kept him down as such it was Franklin's first game back from an injury lay off.

I don't know who Cara (sp?) is but hope her spirits have been lifted this week. We all will be cheering with you and more importantly for you.

Shows the character of our team to do this. And to Jack, glad to see you now have a little red and blue.

A mate of mine battling ill health for a number of years now has also received a wonderful video message from Goodwin, Harmesy, Salem and oliver.

Outstanding that the club has arranged this and a wonderful way to keep the players grounded and connected to their supporters. They understand how important these games are to people and particularly in covid times.

I couldn't be prouder of our club

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
