Has anyone got any info on whether we can travel to Perth and complete 14 days quarantine. I know the obvious answer is ‘no you can’t’ - I’m vaccinated and have completed the G2G form for entry. Happy to do 14 days at my own expense. Been in contact with the serviced apartments and they say they have lots of interstate travellers coming.

Pretty sure you can’t get in from Vic unless you are exempt worker. 
still have to do quarantine even if you’re allowed in, I believe

Ugh - some scars right there..... though I believe that day is what made Jim the man he was in relation to the club and what he wanted to bring from that day forwards - not just for himself. ( The burden he had to carry in relation to Robbie Flower....) 

Then we have Jim pass the batten to the gangly Kiwi lad with broken knees > Max Gawn. Jim saw something in this Max kid - a massive influence. Between Max and Jones we have the been able to thread the ties that hold all these young players together. 

I really feel like the things that happened on that day back in 1987 started a ripple that has taken this long to reach the shore as a swell. There is a delicate balance between playing for the past and playing for now and all these boys have the balance.

I reckon our defence can match their forward line and our midfield shades their midfield.  Our precision out of defence can also be a factor

If that happens our forward line can do quite well or even better especially if the ball is moved into our forward line quickly with decent disposal

However, we also need our forwards to display defensive pressure from the word go.  Not just the small forwards either, all of our forwards

Couple all that with our all over defence and we should come away with the win

So it's not so much what Geelong are capable of, we're well aware of their capabilities.  It's more about can we be at our best.

Our best beats their best as their weakness is a lack of forward line defensive pressure and they're all over defence isn't strong either. 

They like to play keepings-off in their own backline but I reckon that stifles their offensive capabilities

Need to nail those gettable shots at goal too as the opposition are capable of being accurate in front of goal

So you break it all down and we're advantaged as long as we bring our best

Then you can add the back up ruck Esava Ratugolea’s 14 goals.

As a tall forward, there is more to one’s effectiveness than goals kicked and while I do think I would take Hawkins and Cameron over many duos - I think it is an immaterial argument ahead of Friday night.

They are trying to tie up Lever, and they may do that but May will intercept if he can, Petty is a natural at it and taking grabs while he’s doing it (he sometimes tries too much but that is youth). I am more worried about a forward line that has to deal with a fleet of smalls that neutralise our aerial dominance and force our mids deeper to help out our backline to get the ball out of there.

I am certainly not worried about Geelong’s forwardline - we are literally built to beat that setup.

Come on mate. Now you're adding in extra players of ours? We're comparing our 'tall forwards' vs their 'tall forwards'. That's clearly TMac and Brown v Hawkins and Cameron. If we're adding in extra players then lets add in Close too hey? Or maybe Dangerfield? Reckon Dangerfield might have a few of our forwards covered.

As for the ruck option, not sure if there's a stat somewhere, but Hawkins is famously good at setting up goals when rucking in forward 50.

At the risk of having a circular argument, I'm not 'adding in extra players'. 

YOU were comparing Brown, Tmac and Fritter and Hawkins, Cameron and Rohan- not me

I was talking about our talls in our forward line v theirs because that is who King was referring to. He was pointing out Ratugolea added to Cameron, Rohan and Hawkins and that was a forward line the dees would 'die for', implying it is far superior to ours.

Which is bollocks. Which is the point I was making. 

Our forward line has had four talls most of the season, assuming you count fritter, which I do as he is a marking target, not a crumber. 

The current iteration - Jackson, Brown, Tmac and Fritter - is a good group of tall forwards. 

The cats tall forwards in Ratugolea Cameron, Rohan and Hawkins is also a good group.

But do you really think it is one that goody  would 'die for'.

Quite the contrary.

Bringing Ratugolea in at this late stage is evidence the cats don't believe the others can do the job in finals.

And probably an admission they need a player like Jackson who can do solid minutes as an around the ground ruckman (not a bull who only takes inside 50 stoppages   - that by the by we negated last time by simply using Max more often at ruck contests inside their 50).

Hawkins is one dimensional and really can only play out of the square. He has limited impact if not kicking goals. Which would not be a good fit for our game plan. Our forwards have to be able to run up and down the ground all day - particularly tmac, Jackson and Brown. And good zones beat the old school wrestle gorillas.

Cameron would slot into our side and game plan perfectly, and keep say tmac out. But Fritter has rohan covered in every respect.

And Jackson is so far ahead of Ratugolea its not even a discussion.

So all things considered king's assertion they have a forward line we would die for is bollocks.

If you agree with King then that's OK. Each to their own

Ratugolea is playing a pure negating role. Our back six are more than good enough to deal with that.

They are in a prelim.

They have a potent forward line and we only just scraped in against them last time.

I do believe we are well and truly the better team but we have seen anything can happen this year.

We definately need  tmac to start playing again and May to nullify Hawkins.

But I believe this is our time fellow Dees lovers.

Its been a tough 50 odd years but we win this and we are in a granny.

Can't get myself to say that out loud though.

And I get the feeling Viney will go to a new level.
