Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

TICKETING: GF vs Bulldogs

Hi all, another Perth dees fan long time lurker first time joiner/poster.

With all this talk of on-selling grand final guarantees, should I be worried that my two priority 3 access memberships most likely will not give me access to tickets as the 10K allocation will be gobbled up (should we win on Friday)?

How many grand final guarantees is the club likely to have issued?

If so, I may need to throw my hat in the ring for 2 guarantees!

Oh my god! Uncle Bitters was right. I AM a Pollyanna! I was reading this thread and thinking how lovely it was that so many DL-ers were happy to pass on their barcodes to other Dees fans and sunshine and lollipops and unicorns.
The thought of someone joining DL just to do something so unsavoury, not to mention illegal, never occurred to me.
So, this is just an idea. Maybe anyone signing up to DL in the month of September should be charged a membership fee (personally, I think everyone should have to pay a membership fee. But what would I know; I live in a land made of marshmallows and rainbows). Or they could be told to put a deposit of sorts of say $500 that they will get back if they… oh never mind, just realised how dumb my idea is as I’m typing. As you were.

Hi all,

I am a long-time daily reader but very infrequent poster. I just arrived from Germany into Darwin yesterday and will be in quarantine in Howard Springs until September 21st. I am a huge Dees fan. Before moving to Germany two years ago, I attended every game in Melbourne and sat in the MCC (I am a joint MCC/MFC Premium member) with my brother and father. (@Fat Tony is my brother.) I can't remember when I started following the Dees, but it would have been when I was around 3 or 4 years old. I used to watch "Demon Attack" repeatedly after school, which was a video of our 1994 season (Brett Lovett was my favourite player back then).

I am looking to get 2 grand final tickets should we make it - one for me and one for my wife, who is with me in quarantine. I managed to convert her to the Dees about four years ago, and now she watches every game, but she is not a member yet because we were living overseas. I believe my MFC membership means that I am Priority 2 for the Grand Final. What would Demonlanders advise, given that I need two tickets? If people are looking to offload a Grand Final guarantee, I would be happy to buy them at cost price if we beat Geelong on Friday.

I'm a long time member with a GF guarantee, only a single though as my kids are on their Mums family membership with GF guarantee. Not sure what they are doing with theirs.  I am more than happy to pass on my single barcode to any (legit) demon who can attend in WA.  I suppose DM me?

Does anyone know how the GFG usually works? Do they open tickets up to member with a GFG for a few hours and then allow Priority 2s and 3s, then the public? Do GFG holders get a choice about where they sit/what price their tickets?

Just interested to know how it works.

Thanks

GFG is priority 1 so holders will get first option.  Then p2, p3 and then public.

When you buy the tickets you can choose seats or have the system suggest seats.  The earlier you get in the more options there will be.

To speed things up make sure you have an account set up with Ticketmaster beforehand.  Then all you need is the barcodes.

If you want to sit with someone buy the tickets on the same transaction so you will need all their barcodes ready.

I am going to wait to see if the Club will transfer the GFG over to next year before I commit to allowing someone in WA/SA/NT to use my ticket. Also we don't know if the Club will continue the current policy of allowing members to transfer codes. We don't know how the AFL is going to treat interstate teams in terms of seats allocated. There are too many unknowns at the moment.

Also not even sure some interstate members may even need a GFG given the vast majority of our members can't attend.

must say I was wondering much the same.

From what I hear GF tickets in Perth will be like hen's teeth no matter who plays.

As I have previously posted I spoke to the club last week and was told the following :-

1. The club will be offering the option to get a refund for the GFG.

2. They will not be offering to roll them over to next year.

3. We will be able to give others our GFG barcodes for them to purchase tickets. Multiple tickets can be purchased on the one transaction with barcodes for each ticket.

I think it's great if people pass on their GFG's to others. I will be passing mine on to family members. I also think it would be very fair for those wanting them to pay the holder the $150 they paid for them as otherwise they could get a refund.

If that is the case I will definitely be handing my 4 over to eagle/demon supporters in WA.

I was told if we get through we would get emails about it on the weekend after the Prelims are finished so I assume this Sunday. The email will explain what you can do and I was told you can forward the email on to anyone you want to give it to.

I live in Perth and have GFG and obviously intend to go if we make it. the only thing that concerns me is if the club allows everyone to transfer their GFG and their is a reduced number of members allowed due to Optus being a smaller capacity than the G, does that then mean I am at risk if missing out...some reassurance would be greatly appreciated? I'm pretty twitchy at the moment...Go Dees!

Thanks for the update @It's Time

In the event we make the GFG, i will need to request a refund and spend it all on alcohol to keep me distracted until the game starts aha.

Jokes aside, How much was the GFG? Seen some people say $150, was mine more cos I was MFC/MCC ?

I posted the response I got from the club re what will qualify for a refund of the GFG.  Mine and my son's GFGs were rolled over from last year to this year, but on checking the membership page on the club's website, I can only find reference to my GFG (which was $229 by the way), but no reference to that of my son; I'm waiting for a call back in order to sort that out.

I seem to recall that in 2018, we got the emails to register for tickets for the GF in the week preceding the Prelim (I guess that was to speed the process up), but as yet I've had no email with regards to that, this year.  Have things changed in the way they do this now?

That was ridiculous in 2018. We had to pay $5 to be in with a shot at buying tickets if we made it. We didn't. Money lost. Good little earner for ticketmaster.

If people in vic are transferring their GFGs to people in Perth then it will reduce the number of tickets available for the p2 and p3 members

Pretty sure it was $230 when I bought it for my son earlier this year

Yes I'm in the P2 position and have the same concern. I'm lucky another demonlander has agreed to pass in his GF code in the event we win but I was hoping to use my P2 so I can take my wife. I hope established forum members won't be fooled by new members.

I'm a MCC/MFC member. So it was $150 extra just for the GFG on top of the max MCC/MFC membership.

I don't know if they've changed anything all I can tell you is what I posted about what they told me. Maybe because of the post Prelim bye it isn't as urgent this year.

If this does eventuate don't be fooled by these bandwagon, airey fairy types that just want to go and soak up the atmosphere and don't give a rats about the club. Let the die hards with P2 get first crack, they've done the hard yards.

Scalping laws finally passed in WA today. Any on-selling of tickets will be capped at 10% margin or be liable for a fine of $20,000!

If there is anyone in WA who trawls sites for profiteering of this type of scenario I hope you feel like the dhead you are. 🖕🏻

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
