Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I realise that is your point but it was the situation last week when you were 95% certain.

I was more certain Cerra would pick Melbourne more just wanting success but it sounds like he just wants to get back to Victoria regardless. When he said in an interview  the other day that he wants Freo well compensated then I became less confident.

Cerra to Carlton for pick 6 gets the deal done with no drama's at all.

That's just a throw away line. When has a player said I want to screw them I want to screw them hard. I thought Carlton would have learned from over compensating Essendon with pick 7 for Saad. Maybe Cerra is worth it maybe he's not.

Many a player has said this before, they want their current club well compensated, but when push comes to shove, self interest always wins out.

I don't know if he'll come to Melbourne or not, but he could nominate Carlton right now if he wanted Freo to be well compensated.

Only thing that's giving me hope the fact he hasn't nominated yet.

He's not going to Carlton - of that I am 99.99% certain

If he was he/his manager would come out with it - there is absolutely no reason at all to not. Same goes with every other Vic team not playing this weekend. You can assume with certainty that he will come out after the Granny with a preference for one of the 2 teams playing. WB don't seem to be in the picture.

Until the Blues appoint a coach, he'd be wise to hold off committing, especially if a Grand Finalist with the "Coach of the Year" is a possible alternative.

A problem for next week.

Good point you make there. WB over-stocked in the midfield as it is.

I want to pose this question ?

Seeing that we have fought long and hard to change the attitude of the playing group from being individuals to playing for the group  (and supporters etc)

Do we want a player who is trying to get the most benefit for himself, surely a backward step.. Go Dees

I'd be really interested to know what the proposed role is for Cerra? you'd suspect it'd be on the wing using his class, and then Brayshaw moves back into the midfield rotation. but not 100% sure.

i think what it ultimately means is that 21-22 player gets an upgrade, Tom Sparrow to Angus Brayshaw for example

SOS suggesting that Giants would move on Coniglio, for points and salary cap relief.

So, could we give them some late picks, to clear Coniglio to Freo and we get Cerra.  Then we do another trade to get a bit more, like say Weid for a pick that goes to Freo. Result is the  Dockers get Coniglio and a pick for Cerra and Giants get salary cap relief and a new Captain, plus NGA points they need.

If we did that, would you look at Jarrod Brander, as a cheap pick up and versatile cover player. He was originally a forward and is 195 cms and can play at both ends. Eagles happy to move him on, again probably for salary cap relief.

You would then get Cerra and Brander, for mid range picks and Weid.

Sparrow and pick 33 to Richmond? Too much

Pick 15 all that stuffing around for not a great pick. Richmond are getting ripped off 15 for McAsey McAsey has no value you would get him for nothing.

I can't see why can't package a future first round pick with Weideman and Sparrow or Jordon. I rate Jordon and Sparrow as top 15 draft picks they are both playing good footy while Weideman would be worth a pick between 20 and 25.

Just watched the first half of the Freo game and not overly impressed with Cerra's form to date. Had a shot at goal from 30 meters out and hit the side of the boot and didn't make the distance. He doesn't seem to like the hard stuff and all our midfielders are hard at it and that's what I love about the club I don't want to see softness in the midfield it costs you in big games. Am I wrong? I don't see many Freo games. I'm sure there are a lot more people who have seen play more than I have. I know he's a well credentialed player but is he what we need?

McAsey was a very highly rated junior and was a top 10 draft pick only two years ago. He would have at least as much trade value, if not more than Weideman without doubt.

I've said before Cerra's value is largely weighted by the fact he went pick 5 a few years ago (and media hype, see Saad: pick 8 as an example).

I can see us trading into the later parts of this years 1st round, and also trading our future 1st to him.

I don't think at this point he's 'worth that', but if we win the flag it'll be seen almost like a free hit in a sense.

And if we lose the grandfinal, it'll be viewed as the missing piece rightly or wrongly - only place Dogs have us is in midfield depth (rucks excluded). Both pretty strong motivating factors whichever way the game goes.

You are dreaming. Who is stoping McAsey from getting a game in a poor side. No one he has no value he's a failed draft pick. I can guarantee you no one would want him. Weideman on the other hand is playing in the number 1 side in the comp ATM and can't get a game ahead of Ben Brown although he didn't help himself form wise he still has value if Ben  Brown wasn't recruited to us Weideman would be getting a game no doubt about it. McAsey is just no good some high draft picks don't prosper.

Tom Sparrow is a future top 50 mid in the competition, but I get your point.

Haha, that is an important distinction. Read things properly, AF.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
