Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I get where you're coming from there, but the club have shown a great ability to get deals done over the last 5 or so years.

I think it will come down to if any of our players wants out for any reason. For example if Sparrow wants back to South Australia, there could be a deal like.

Sparrow to the Crows and Pick 33 to Richmond.

Crows send Fischer McAsey to Richmond.

Richmond give us Pick 15.

We could then potentially do some sort of a deal like our Future 1st Round Pick, Pick 15 and Sam Weideman to Freo for Cerra and Pick 27.

But as I said, I think it will hinge on one of our players wanting out.

Sparrow and pick 33 to Richmond? Too much

Pick 15 all that stuffing around for not a great pick. Richmond are getting ripped off 15 for McAsey McAsey has no value you would get him for nothing.

I can't see why can't package a future first round pick with Weideman and Sparrow or Jordon. I rate Jordon and Sparrow as top 15 draft picks they are both playing good footy while Weideman would be worth a pick between 20 and 25.

Just watched the first half of the Freo game and not overly impressed with Cerra's form to date. Had a shot at goal from 30 meters out and hit the side of the boot and didn't make the distance. He doesn't seem to like the hard stuff and all our midfielders are hard at it and that's what I love about the club I don't want to see softness in the midfield it costs you in big games. Am I wrong? I don't see many Freo games. I'm sure there are a lot more people who have seen play more than I have. I know he's a well credentialed player but is he what we need?

Jordan Dawson doesn't agree

Going back to Perth or SA you only have the choice between 2 clubs, 50% chance you would support one of them growing up.  Chris Judd and Buddy were Melbourne supporters, it has minimal leverage.

On Cerra, if we come to terms the deal will get done, might be our first 2 picks this year and 3nd round next to the bulldogs for this year first round pick.  Future first and Dogs first  this year for Cerra, so pick 17 this year and pick 18 next year for Cerra, or we trade these picks to GCS with Weiderman for Pick 3 and 3rd round pick this year and offer Pick 3 to Fremantle for Cerra and their second round pick.

Also about Dawson he's about to go to Adelaide for pick 23. Port could do better but the Swans are going to have to suck it up and take pick 23. I can't see why this can't happen to Cerra if he nominates us. We can't give you pick 6 but Weideman and a future first rounder will do.

Norm Smith is one he got the Swans in the final once which was a fine achievement considering how woeful they were. Northey always left before he got sacked. Blight is another did he get sacked from Geelong? Malthouse situation was a disgrace didn't get sacked until he coached the graveyard. Thank god for Eddie it could have been a Collingwood dynasty if not for his love affair with Buckley.

Anyone who has been given the flick as a coach is a failed coach IMO. I hold fears for Voss he failed at Brisbane and he's an assistant in a mentally weak club which is Port. Not a great resume I wouldn't be overly confident if I was a Carlton fan.

Pretty sure Brisbane’s admin and off field situation was absolutely shocking back then… and the coach position is pretty overrated these days anyway. The CEO position is much more important in determining the long term success of a club IMO. And now Carlton have a very good one who knows how to properly structure a footy department, so as long as they don’t bring in another Mark Neeld then they’ll go places.

That's fine but I didn't really comment on how Jackson landed at the Demons, only that getting Cook is as significant for the Blues as PJ was for us and they may turn things around and no longer be a place where talent goes to die as we were for so long.

That may be so but how long did it take Roos/PJ/Goody to right the ship. Also, once they start to go up the ladder they'll no longer be able to feast on high draft picks and will need a smart operator like JT to select talent, perhaps they can lure SOS back, he did a good job.

By the time they may be close to challenging Cerra will be about to retire.

If you had asked me this time last week in regards to Cerra I would have said my hopes of getting him was at 95%. Just finding it extremely hard how to satisfy Freo especially Peter Bell being such a tight [censored]. Unfortunately we just don't have the capital to satisfy Freo.

That's fine, but our draft and trade capital hasn't changed in the past week ...

All in the same forward line. We have one of the tallest forwardlines in the comp as it stands.

I suspect he was referring to the fact that Brown and Tmac are aging. Fritsch, as good as he is, is undersized for key tall. We’ll most likely need another young tall or two to replace them in the next few years, particularly sooner if Weideman gets traded. Unless of course Petty does a David Neitz, which isn’t likely.

Sure is.

Sparrow is a juniour Jack Viney but a bit more polish. Already 84 kg at only 183.

He jumps in the air with excitment when Max takes a mark in the prelim.

Cultutre builder/maintainer.

Only unless for dire family circumstances. Otherwise he becomes part of a dynasty with the Dees.

Cerra is managed by Paul Connors, who gets his players to their club of choice. Id say Cerra wont nominate a club until PC knows a deal can be done. If thats Melbourne it will take a few days of trade week before we will know if we can get a deal done. Only then will Cerra nominate Melbourne or otherwise Carlton if we cant.

Carlton have nice top end talent that’s selling a dummy to people thinking it’s an easy fix.

If Voss does Stephen Bradbury his way into the job, it’s too bad McRae took what Voss really needs, Leppa.

Carlton lack any defensive system, combined with or because of a lack of 2 way runners. That is going to be no easy fix, you reckon Teague wasn’t aware of it the whole time?

They're wasted money on flankers as others have pointed out, instead of hard workers to compliment what they have going for them. Cerra would be a handy addition to their (any) midfield, will he make a big difference there? I’m not convinced at all.

The other problem Carlton have is the teams around them will get better. They finished on the same points as Hawthorn ffs, in a pure development year for the Hawks. Essendon, GWS will hold if not get better, Freo should improve, and they’ll drop points to teams falling down the ladder that are better than them, Richmond, West Coast, Geelong…

Apart from Geelong it’s a pretty vibrant top 8 that may take a fair effort to crack into in the coming years.

Scarlett would potentially fill the gap that Leppitsch would have.

But I hope he doesn’t.

 You've missed my point.

Carlton will demand a top 10 pick. We have nothing remotely close to even matching that.

Best option is potentially trading a player out. Jackson and Brayshaw have already been ruled out.

I realise that is your point but it was the situation last week when you were 95% certain.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
