Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

There’s a lot to be said (particularly as one faces ones own mortality) to live in the moment. Don’t look back and don’t look forward, well not too far. Otherwise, we spoil the moment.

We have a great team, existing stars and upcoming ones, we have a club that has regained its pride and credibility, and we are  looking forward to finals footy. Personally, I’m not thinking of the Granny only this Friday.

I certainly can’t think of trades at this moment. We have a game of footy to play. There is nothing else.

Basket case.

Cerra - take $100k - 200k less a year to come to the Dees, and be a multiple premiership player.......will make up the dollars via being part of a dynasty.

Freo asking for Jackson in return apparently.

Yes Cerra is good and yes he would add to our depth and mids.

But he's not worth losing Jackson.

I think Jackson might end up going back to WA (just a gut feel).

Melbourne have apparently impressed him (which is great) and perhaps we might get him in 3-4 years .

Isn't a game changer and wouldn't be sad if we missed out on him.

I'm trying to get excited, but if I'm completely honest, I know less about Cerra than I do about any of our Casey listed players.

This was Mahoneys forte. Will be interesting to see what eventuates, but it is telling that Cerra's manager hasn't announced his preferred club yet. It reeks of waiting for us to be finished before calling our name out on T.V.

Hypothetically, asking for a mate- what if they offered young Brayshaw and Cerra for Jackson.. 😂

Nev, the MFC would hold Jackson to his contract - or if he still insisted to be traded, have him assassinated, rather than trading him to Freo

Haha I hope so! Never seen anything like him.

Just think, worst case scenario, IF Jackson wanted back to WA and IF that was part of a deal for Cerra, I don't think it would be just a straight swap. There would be a sweetener coming our way, and thinking back to how Mahoney used to future-plan, particularly when you think of the Hogan situation, the conspiracy side of my brain would be a bit dubious about our draft hand this year as it stands.

Cerra is a good player but we don’t ‘need’ him and we shouldn’t (and we won’t) destabilise the culture by forcing out players who want to stay and are in the 18. If that’s what it takes to get him then we just won’t get him.

Jordon, Sparrow, and Rivers (IMO, he would be an excellent mid) will be pushing that core midfield group next year and that is enough established young talent for us.

Petracca, Oliver, Viney, and Harmes are a tough, balanced core group that is amazingly talented but also has the ability to disrupt other midfield groups (Viney) or run with someone effectively (Harmes). And they are 25, 24, 27, and 25…

And to those that would want to ‘upgrade’ Jack or James - there is a basketball idiom that applies; “there’s only one Sherrin.” We don’t need 4 players hunting the footy, we need our stars to be lifted higher than they can go by themselves through the blocking, and movement, and defensive mindset of the rest of that group.

Yeah Rivers is the one. Alas no direct replacement unless we grabbed Maynard.

Few questions, not just to you, but I've noticed a few trains of thought appearing regularly regarding this potential trade.

- Why wouldn't we look to improve? Adding a talented young player like Cerra onto the wing would improve our side IMO.

- Who said anyone is being 'forced out'? Who's to say a player/s won't request a trade?

- Read around the traps Cerra is best mates with Langdon and also mates with Trac. By all reports he's an upstanding young man. Why would he 'destabilise' our culture? Did it have that effect when we traded Hogan for May? Watts for Fritsch?

The Tigers won a flag then added in Tom Lynch and went on to win two more. They didn't just back themselves to 'lift higher', they actively looked to improve.

I'm not saying sell the farm to get Cerra, and I love our positive vibe atm, but let's not think we're an automatic dynasty before we're even in a grand final.

Right. Don't care if we win by 10 goals for the next two games, class in the middle still a direct need regardless.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not tbh...

My point is, good teams are always looking to improve.

Edit - Just saw you 'liked' my post, so probs not sarcasm haha! We need a font for that...

Hahaha. You know as I finished writing that I thought [censored] it comes off a bit like that doesn’t it.

But no, I mean it. Still missing another balanced mid, and I’ll still feel that way even if we win the flag.

No need to improve, this years grand final winner gets the 2021 and 2022 premiership, with a years bye.

Firstly given we have no picks and he is a highly rated young player who was also a high draft pick, we would need to trade something to get something. Who are you willing to trade out which is of roughly equal value. Rivers and picks, Jackson, Pickett? That’s the sort of trade that you would need to do.

2nd when tigers went after Lynch he was a free agent all he cost was money. A 2nd key fwd was a need of tigers as they only had Riewoldt.

3rd our biggest issue all year has been our fwd line if we are going to trade capital for anything it’s got to be another key fwd. Tmac and Ben Brown aren’t a dynasty 1/2.

4th our mid and backs are settled and the equal to best of any team going round. In the mid we already have the best top end talent in trac and Oliver and Gawn, solid experienced roll players in Viney, Harmes and Langdon and Brayshaw. Up coming best 22 talent in Sparrow and Jordan and who ever else we draft. Our balance right now is basically perfect for the next 4-5 years.

In summary Cerra would only marginally add to the mid mix, would cost us talent else where both now and going fwd if we can’t resign players due to cap space and prevent us filling real holes in our list. Just look at pies or swans now, do you want to see the team pulled apart just as it starts. We could easily be them in a year or 2 if we play it wrong.

Gonna be interesting to see how we approach this. From what we know there are no impending departures.

Those fringe players that may want to go (Chandler, Baker, Lockhart, Bedford, Smith, etc.) are not worth much.

Can't see Freo wantng to deal in the futures market?

What are we missing?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
