Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

What a great season Clarry has had, one of the best and most consistent players i have seen in my 50 years following the club. Congrats Clayton

Clarry is truly one of our greatest. His contested ball winning is the best I have ever seen.  Best midfielder since Robbie Flower.

He’s now a genuine A grader.  No doubt.

If he can fix up his disposal and keep kicking goals like last night, he will become elite.

Sensational 2021 and deserves all the awards going around.  Love to see him win the Brownlow.

Well done Clarry!  Only a few more weeks of your 'never say die' attitude, and you can give your bashed-up body a well earned rest.  More personal accolades to come, no doubt ...... but we all know that's not what you strive for!

I’m not sure how you grade ‘elite’. I reckon winning what will end up being most ‘best player in the AFL’  awards this year is elite by definition. If he’s NOT elite, then the AFL doesn’t have anyone who is, surely.

You could just tell from his first game he was going to be absolutely sensational. We’ve had other blokes come in and have high possession debuts, but the amount he got in the game time he did and what he did with his possessions marked him out as a once in a generation player.

Having 3 deadset champions in our team feels surreal. If he can fix his set shot goal kicking, then he goes into some truly rarefied air.

As I saw somewhere else Webber, the only player possibly equal to Robbie Flower if he stays on this path for a few more years. So more unique than elite. And that means I have burnt my own favorite, Alan Johnson.

Easily one of our best midfielders in the modern era. While his set shots are an area of his game that needs improvement, he has the ability to snap crucial goals in big games like the one last night. I can't imagine what the result last night would've been without him.

I still can't get my head around the fact that he's only 24 years old.

Only 3 Colin?  Curious who they are, Clarry, Tracc and??

Lever? May? Gawn?   (with Jackson, Kozzie and a couple of others coming up fast)

ahhh the age old Champion v Elite v A Grade discussion! :D

Yes. And imagine how good we'll be when Max, Tacktor and Clarry truly arrive?

I have Max as the third.

Basically because all 3 would make any person’s top ten footballers in the league.

Lever and May would crack top 25 but I don’t think they would breach top ten yet.

Kozzie and Dogga are too early into their careers to call them champions just yet.

Totally agree with the top 3, and TBH, we have a chance of maybe 4 players in All Australian team this year, combine that with 4 players in the under 22 team, and potentially a rising star winner, a brownlow, a premiership, coaches award, coach of the year...  not bad for a team that has constantly been saying since the pre-season that they play for each other, rather than the accolades.

Awesome!!!

We could literally have 5 - Clarry, Trac, Gawn, Lever, May. Fritta also a chance.

I have never seen a player who has the same will to win and just pushes themselves as hard as possible every second of every game.
This guy in finals is going to be something else.

Last night he also broke the all time AFL record for most contested possessions in a single season.

To me he is a goal or two a game off Judd / Cousins / Ablett (a bee's old fella) but is par with Fyfe / Swan / Dangerfield / Bont and ahead of Zorko /  Wines / Grey / Cripps / Parrish / Kelly

Certainly an outstanding contested ball winner but comparisons with Flower are awkward as they played in very different positions in different eras.

The best current comparison to Flower would be Ed Langdon.

Combine the frame of Fritsch, the running of Langdon, the punching-above-his-weight of Spargo, the marking of Russell Robertson, the around-the-ground skill of Adem Yze, and the goal kicking of Brad Green, and you've got Robbie Flower.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
