Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Out: Smith, Jordon, Sparrow

In: May, McDonald, Viney

I think Melksham has the X factor and the foot skills we have been missing. Very happy with him in the side the last two weeks.

Unfortunately I see Jordon and Sparrow coming out to make way for more experienced players

Melksham on what he dished up yesterday just does not deserve a game. Plus his undisciplined act when he kicked the ball out cannot be tolerated. He goes out

I believe that Clarry needs a rest - has played 106 consecutive games after all, not including pre-season fixtures. Noticed he was uncharacteristically jogging to a lot of contests yesterday and not chasing (never mind what the commentators were saying). He may have been granted an in-season rest, and told not to go hard. Still, I think he's one player who could come back positively after a week off. I can't remember the last time he wasn't in the votes.

He can have a rest in October.

Was a strange game, some players did have quiet periods and Melk didn't light it up - no debates there.

Just think it is worth giving him one last go but might depend on how Bulldogs/Port go, maybe a late change, the old Chris Scott treatment

Versus WC Melksham showed what he’s capable of. Versus Adelaide unfortunately he showed the other spectrum, that kicking of the ball after the ball went out was just the cream on top.

I think he stays because of his efforts last week and he is a good kick for goal, but jeez he’d want to pull his head in.

Gus into the guts for a start that leaves Rugby player out May and TMac in could try another for the wing position Rivers, Spargo?

Your disrespect for Viney is not unnoticed by the football gods - I fear for your karma - they are vengeful gods.

Viney was built for finals and he will deliver where others struggle to perform.

If you think we are better off without him then I will leave you to the fate of those above.

Have you got a copy of the 2018 Elimination Final vs Geelong handy?  I have and it's quite clear that Viney won that game for us.

Melk is a role player now...with Stewart out there probably isn't a role for him.

As for X-factor...if that's code for not getting the footy very much then he has it in spades.

To be fair, the role he plays means he's not going to get a lot of it.

Not every player is gonna get 20-30 touches, Its about impact.
When he has the ball either him or the person he kicks it too impacts the scoreboard.

He was peeved off at Spargo for a pretty ordinary kick which should have hit him on the chest.

With no pre finals bye and the chance we don't get a home final, do we bite the bullet and rest a fee guys? Prime candidates Gawn (Bring in weid), Clarry (Viney), Salem (May back, Smith stays), Kozzie (Bedford).

Any others?

Harmes shouldn’t be getting a game, put Brayshaw in the middle and Oscar on the wing

Oscar must be champing at the bit to get into the wing position. I am tempted to think that is OK if Gus goes into the centre, his best pozzie.

Did you watch the first quarter yesterday? Clarry isn't immune to slow starts but looked cooked.

"looked cooked". I'm not sure how anyone can judge such a thing based on a TV broadcast. I just can't see how resting him from 120 minutes of football next week would make any difference. By all means, give him a lighter week on the training track if the data available to the club suggests it's necessary, but playing for 120 minutes, approximately 150 hours after the previous game doesn't seem to me like it would make much difference to any player (unless they're carrying an injury).

If a rested Clarry goes on to win the norm smith I could not care less. Winning the GF is first prize everything else is 50th prize compensation.

Watched a replay again yesterday.

Reckon  Hibberd and Sparrow were both good.

Both tough as a goat’s head.

Be unlucky to get dropped. IMO

You're right - I can't accurately judge anything from the couch at home. I don't however agree with the second part of your post. Coaches have rested top-line players for a freshen up for decades now, I assume for a reason. Also, almost all players a carrying something by this stage in the season.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
