Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Well done Joel Smith. Played your role well

Credit to the Crows they came to play but we got the win, kicked accurately for a change, no injuries and playing for the minor premiership next weekend

Great time to be a Dees supporter

Whilst it’s great to see our team in this position, as long suffering supporters Covid has dudded us.  After years of attending games in all conditions, watching us get belted week in week out, we now are deprived of attending games to watch the team rise to the top.  Watching on television is just not the same, no atmosphere, can’t join in the song with supporters, and walk away from the G bouncing along.  It’s so sad that as supporters of the club that has waited more than 50 years we are dudded to totally soak up that winning feeling.

How many players has that player concussed etc for no consequences.

Ask May how his eye socket is going 😡

I never want to see players injured but if Hawkins blows a hammy off the bone next week I would be delighted.

Good work by the boys today. Wasn’t paying the closest attention up until 3 mins left in the second quarter. A friend had a serious accident at work 2 weeks ago and is lucky to be alive so I spent a bit of time having a chat on the phone. Definitely put some things in perspective for me personally.

Wasn’t taking this one too seriously, wanted to win obviously but like everyone else I was hoping to get through with minimal energy expended and no injuries.

I think it shouldn’t be underestimated our performance without Tmac and May. 2 crucial players on our goal to goal line along with Viney as well. We were able to see how the Dees can mix it up a bit up front and this can only help keep opposition guessing come finals.

Honestly that performance from Fritta made the whole Sunday. Didn’t get near it 1st quarter then channeled his own Jeff Farmer to tear it up for the rest of the game. He has really cleaned up the set shot game and is kicking through it beautifully. As is Brown, speaking of which if fit and firing is a massive game changer.

Thought Langdon covered territory well as usual. Might have been a different story without him. Pound for pound Gawn was very good I thought, and Jackson just keeps showing how much of a game changer he is and will likely be.

Plenty of drop offs but not going to spend too much time on it. You have to expect games like this from Melksham. Gus couldn’t get near it. Meh, forget it and move on. I like Sparrow but it sounds like he’s the one to make way for Jack.

4 points, nerves kicking in. Who knows where finals will be. It’s a funny feeling but yeah let’s be happy about where we are and where we could go. Gotta be in it to win it. I don’t really have any good jokes or zingers to add to that. Stay safe everyone.

Has transformed himself in the last few weeks.

His marking is great and now unlike earlier this year is doing what fwds should....score goals.

And reminds me of that song...

I was only nineteen.😁

I would have expected Weideman after 6 years to be at the stage Jackson is now.

Jackson is a special talent.

A very solid win.

Challenged and we dealt with it.

Wayward Crows in the first quarter and Fritsch's 3 in 90 seconds to finish the match may have flattered us but hell I'll take it.

And one of the few games where we kicked more goals than behinds... YAY !!!

First time since round 12!

And that’s including Clarry’s awful miss from dead in front.

Great wrap up. Interested in the wingman in this game. Did Langdon actually play on Seedsman, that is on the same wing? Not that wingman should play defensive.  The commentators were speculating for the first 3 quarters and a bit, wondering why the game was played exclusively along the southern wing. So Langdon was in the mix all day and played well but alternatively that was one reason why Gus had stuff all possessions for most of the game, yet we had many posters wondering what use is Gus. If the ball is elsewhere, what can you do, if you follow the game plan of course.

interesting observation from the commentators because when I used to sit in my reserved seat in the Northern Stand, I am sure 90% of the game was played on the opposite wing!

Covid is a biatch. No doubt about that. But the team seems set-up for long term success with Dogga, Spargs, Kozzie, Rivers, Jordon coming through to support Maxy, Trac and Clarry. We'll be back at the G Round 1 next year and will hopefully see the flag being unfurled.

Jon Ralph on Fritsch: “He’s got 46 goals and surely is All Australian”.

Interesting. Can’t say I’ve seen his name mentioned much in AA media chatter.

I've heard a few commentators say that Fritta is a star, I think it's only the MFC supporters that don't appreciate him.

Fritsch could easily come 3rd in the Coleman which would be an amazing achievement

he is the best medium Fwd in the comp and the most accurate of any in the running

I disagree with this. This is the true beauty of freedom of speech. You get to see how people react when filled with emotion. I find it quiet insightful.

Honestly some of the game day commentary is ridiculous. Calling it out is valid. I’d do it at the ground if a supporter was having a crack at our players the way some do in the game day thread. I don’t see it any differently just because it’s online.

Nope for mine. It’s a good outlet for me or I cop an earful from the missers and the neighbours with all the swearing and yelling. Best that what is said stays there and is not used in future under any circumstances. Any other thread is fair game though (inc this one)

Should get a look in for AA forward posy but the selectors often fill half the forward line with midfielders.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but thought Petty was superb today. Hard to imagine he'll be playing at Casey much over the next decade

I agree he’s a starting 18 for sure. So what to do with Tommo when he comes back? A few murmuring of perhaps moving Rivers into the middle? Will be interesting nonetheless how his career unfolds.

Fox just had rankings over the last 6 weeks for ability as a team to:

  • not concede once the ball enters D50
  • stop coast to coast transition
  • win the ball back between the arcs
  • apply pressure.

Melbourne ranks first for all of them. Far and away the best team without the ball.

Petty could go forward next year, if Tommo comes back fully fit. If we still have Weideman I would also trial him down back for a year if there is a position vacant.

Our time has finally arrived. Not only are we playing the best style of finals winning football of the entire top 8, but also injuries and form of the others is working for us at the right time of the season.

If we play to capacity, we are 4 games from a Premiership.

It's not even embarrassing to say it out loud now.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
