Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No finals in Victoria for the first two weeks

On a day Victoria recorded 55 new local cases of coronavirus,McLachlan confirmed the opening fortnight of the finals will be held outside of Victoria because of the lockdown extension and restrictions, a move which increases the chances of the grand final being held in Perth, Queensland or South Australia on September 25.

How can you change the date of the AFL Grand Final from the 25th to the 18th of September?

You can change the location of the GF to where ever in these times, but to think about changing the date of the GF is ludicrous, that has to remain sacrosanct.

I think getting the game played is the priority. Would be pretty bad if they put in a bye the week before the GF then cases pop up during that week and there is no crowd for the GF.

I think last year kind of set the precedent in changing grand final dates.

The way COVID/delta is destroying most of the east coast and now probably NZ, are we even going to have a grand final?

How can the AFL book in a grand final elsewhere and do it with any confidence?

WA would have to be the safest bet in terms of covid risk

So can someone rate the odds of us , Melbourne residents and GF guarantee members,  being able to attend a final...all finals....any finals. Please also include likely venues. Like could we go to Tasmania Qld or Sa...? Presume we win thru to the GF. Crystal ball the end of Melbourne lockup.....or no end . Presume a negative test is sufficient re travel requirements.

Pollyanna you're not taking this seriously.

Squirrel reckons the new govt in Afghanistan really respect important religious festivals and would never have cancelled the finals.

So all in all he reckons in Victoria we would've been better off with the Taliban.

Mate, I’ve got no idea what you’re on about but if you live in Victoria you won’t be attending finals this year. Our case numbers were a disgrace today.

Hopefully in  2022 we can all attend finals, utilise our GF guarantee tickets and win the flag.

The winner of the Melbourne-Geelong clash will likely be given their choice of whether to play a Friday or Saturday night contest and their choice of venue outside of Victoria.

McLachlan confirmed on Friday there would be no finals in Victoria in the first two weeks.

If Melbourne chose the Friday night they would be playing their third six-day break in a row after a Monday Perth game in Round 22.

The minor premier is usually keen to play a Friday qualifying final off the pre-finals bye to maximise their chance of an eight-day break leading into the Grand Final.

But this year with a likely pre-Grand Final bye the minor premiers — likely Melbourne or Geelong — could play a Saturday final next week and still be guaranteed a 14-day break leading into a Grand Final.

The league will attempt to pair the 1 v 4 final in a timeslot close to the 5 v 8 match-up given the loser of 1 v 4 will play the winner of the 5 v 8 contest.

Don't be so negative. Squirrel also reckons he knows an Afghani mate of his who reckons he knows a people smuggler who can get us into any state in Australia. He's got this big truck and it can fit a whole lot of us in.  Once across the border you can claim asylum and demand to be taken to the footy.

If the grand final is in Perth and we can’t go due to being filthy Victorians, I would be happy to give my grand final priority access to WA Melbourne supporters. Just because we get to miss out doesn’t mean everyone else should. The more support we could get for the boys in finals the better.
Should this awful situation arise, I would be more than happy to have private conversations with WA fans who post here to try and help them out.

Me too J. Do we need to speak to club membership to arrang this?

yep, we can effectively kiss goodbye any chance of having finals in Victoria goodbye. Dan was looking for any excuse to throw us into further chaos, and those imbeciles gave it to him on a platter. There has been mass failings on all levels - monumental federal [censored]-ups with vaccine rollout - state shuts down at the sound of a sneeze - d!ckhe@d citizens blatantly disregarding public safety measures.

Sure it would be great to see finals live and if Victorians are allowed to travel to games (next to impossible), i'd travel anywhere in the country to attend a GF if we made it. However, at the end of the day, a premiership is a premiership, and i would gladly accept one no matter the way it came.

Coming up to 57 years and counting.............

I reckon Dan does not want to lose another grand final. He was very visibly annoyed not to be able to lift restrictions.

Anger was obvious when he referred to the idiots who had let s all down.

If partners , kids, grand parents, swimming teachers and nanny’s aren’t invited to Perth, then the Adelaide Oval will host the Toyota 2021 grand final. You can take that to the National  Australia Bank.

Can you imagine playing a home grand final against Port in Adelaide. FMD.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
