Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That was just a magnificent win. Optus is such a tough ground to play at

Nibbler producing that game in his 100th. Hats off. Superb career turn-around

Harmes. I wouldn’t have complained if you were dropped but you proved your worth. What do I know!

Bowey to play like that in his second game, at such a hostile venue. The kid has plenty of guts as well as elite kicking skills

Melks played his role well. Credit to him he has plenty of detractors.

To have Top 4 sewn up with 2 games to play is such a luxury. Manage players with niggles and a great chance to play with freedom and build form. I don’t care who we play in the qual final or where. We’ve won in Adelaide this year and Perth. We fear nobody.

Booking a visit to my doctor now. Need my heart checked after that last quarter

There is no doubt that lightening break which will likely never happen again absolutely robbed us of all momentum. Without it we win by 6 goals. Luckily percentage doesn’t matter to us, but if it did you’d be filthy.
I am just so thrilled that we managed to get away with that win. Another few minutes and I reckon it could have been a different result. Overall we played better for longer and deserved to win.
Petty was playing with fire in the last 50 seconds holding up that mark. Lucky the umpire decided at that point he has maxed his Weagles free kicks quota for the day.
We hold our destiny in our hands. If we can keep the list healthy for another 6 weeks anything is possible!

I'm just laughing now. Seriously forget about that final 15 minutes. We went over to Perth playing to get our top spot back and we did it.

Lets get back to Melbourne and beat Adelaide.

Agree on this.  The mindset for both teams at the break would have been tricky to manage.

Dees go into the break knowing they have a lock on Top 4.

Eagles know they are out of finals if they lose , so lots to keep switched on for. Theyr;e stil a proud club.

Just human nature playing out and understandable.

Winning in Perth after last 2 weeks of travel and upheaval was super human of this team.

Well done lads.

Checked the Rising Star odds and we have three players in the top ten with Jackson, Jordon and Rivers. Jackson is now outright favourite to win. I reckon Bowey a chance for a nomination. We've also got Pickett, Petty and Sparrow doing really well. Lots of a good youth coming through which I think doesn't get highlighted much compared to bombers and such.

I think that the umpire didn’t whistle the mark quickly enough, so Spargo thought be had to play on.

No, umpire actually called play on when Spargo looked to his right. One of several pathetic decisions favouring the Eagles.

Honestly think they should start again with his left foot. He strikes them pure on the left. His right is a bunch of nonsense, spinning the ball around, arcing out and then praying he gets the big draw on it.

When Gawn kicks for goal from 30m out he kicks it high and hard and almost always hooks.  Why he does that rather than trying to pass it to a bloke behind the umpire is beyond me.

Gee that was a great win.

Against the hostile booers, umps and weather.....we did it.

Trac, Petty, Bowey and bb well done.

Back on top.

Whoops forgot Jackson.

Back in career best.

That B Taylor needs to shut completely up. He called Hunt Langdon. He continually barracks for any and all opposition sides against Melbourne. He adds no intelligent commentary. He never comments on poor umpiring decisions when they go against Melbourne.

Muting the commentary I always thought was such a Dad thing to do.  Last night I did it from halfway through the first qtr,  the commentary has become hideous

I hate an opposition comeback as much as the next person. It's always about killing off games for me. But if ever there was a let off it was last night. The flight bizo the week before, thw late outs, the upcoming 5 day break, the red eye flight out honestly what more could you expect with a restart 15 bloody minutes left in the game. The team behind in that situation will always have a free hit. Would have loved to at least have nailed one shot but who cares, we got it done. I just hope the ramifications of all that hoo ha and Hunt's injury doesn't hurt us too much.

Does Bowey remind anyone else here or a Salem with speed? Great kick!

Wish he was 8 or so cms taller as it would help him in the marking contests, but he is in IMO already our best user of the ball. To play like that over there, in just your second game, is remarkable. We have our own Caleb Daniel.

Apologies if it’s been said earlier, but Max winning the toss was so vital last night. 15 of the 19 goals were at the end Melbourne kicked to in the first quarter - the right of screen on TV. Had we lost the toss, it's likely we would have returned to the ground after the lightning break with WC in front. Now that would have been even more stressful and difficult for the Dees - and all of us.

Actually rate the win very highly, struggling at half time, came out and dominated the 3rd quarter like a good side. 8 free kicks to 1 in the last quarter doesn't lie plus the play on call to Spargo , the free against May for just contesting the mark, good win.

One of our best in bizarro world.

At the ground last night after the full time siren you would think the handful of Dees fans would be a little disappointed with the umpiring performance. No, it was the Eagles fans en masse leaning over the fence and hurling abuse at the umpires. One of the most disgusting supporter groups in the country. Make Essendon supporters look half decent after that effort.

don’t help. A cool 28-16 tonight, 10-2 to close out the game. So predictable.

Was telling that they gave us a purple patch in the third and didnt it make a difference.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
