Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The article is based on a Hun interview that was conducted by Hamish McLachlan. It’s behind a paywall, so I’ve posted this instead.

I found it pretty brazen that of all publications, they would interview him. But many of the issues raised in the article (racism, depression, life as an asylum seeker and substance abuse) do need to be discussed more genuinely in terms of how they are discussed in pejorative and superficial ways.

While some seem to shut up shop when his name is raised, I reckon he should get a game in the last few weeks. He is clearly made of good stuff to persevere through what life has thrown at him so far.

Would definately offer him another year as not only insurance for Max, but he really has played some fine games at Casey and I believe he would be good at mentoring younger players.

I'll second that.  He's a damn sight better than any other big man at Casey at this stage.

Insurance and also can fill in for 'managed' requirements for both Max & Dogga.  Should have done so this week IMV.  Resting both of those two for Maj & Melk

Have to disagree there unfortunately he is built like tarzan play like Jane said that when he was with Norf just does not have the hardness or football nous for a guy that has been in the system for a while now, seems like a nice guy and glad he got over his problems but seen enough of Casey games to see that fill up player at best.

I can tell u now your analogy is WAYY of the mark. He has been great at Casey and Iterate he deserves and should get another year

Sounds like he’s been solid for Casey this year and he’s got a lot he’s dealt with. Bradtke likely won’t be retained so we need some coverage, give him another year.

As for his mental health issues, I’m certainly not religious but it’s a miracle he survived and I hope he is able to continue to onwards and upwards. I get the feeling for someone in his position, every day is a new battle.

thanks Colin for posting - as soon as I read The Hun + Hamish I knew it would be an unhelpful article ... but I do hope Majak is enjoying his time with us at Casey

He's got to get another year surely. Just so he can have another crack at it fully fit. Can't see him getting a game this year due to his lack of fitness. Another full pre season and we will see the best of Majak.

Putting his personal life aside, Majak’s physique alone suggests 200 games. The reality is he is a B grader who might be useful in a pinch. His highest season tally of games is 9 with a total of 54. I feel Daw lacks……..”intensity” is a good word. By all means give him another year as a support act but barring injuries to multiple players, he is never going to be a regular senior team member.

You never know, maybe he could still get a game this year?

He seems happy at the club, because you always see him with a smile on his face, so it's great to see him enjoying his time at the club.

?

People with depression learn to hide their pain. They don't want to talk about it. Yes he may be all smiles but we will never really know what goes through his head when he is alone.

Footage of Chester Bennington the day before he took his life has him laughing and playing around with family and friends. Chester's wife posted the video for everyone showing what his depression looked like.

Yes, sadly what you say true, people with depression can learn to hide the pain, and for some sadly they want to end their lives.

I was diagnosed with major depression back in 2007, it sucks, some days are better then others, but i have the best doctor any one could ask for, been there for me in some very dark times, so i am very appreciative having such a great doctor.

I'm just glad Majak is at our club, as he can have great support, be through other players, to medical assistants, when needed.

I know things can change in a heart beat, he will have ups and downs, and i just hope he is going to be reach out if he needs help.

It is just great to see Majak even able to run out and be able to play footy and AFL footy, after what he has been through, is great.

Depression is hard, and each person is differn't, and my hear breaks every time i hear some has lost their life to this thing.

So for the long post.

You are both correct, it is every hard to pick out a person who has depression as it is so easy to hide it from others, some people may become depressed over a single incident which has affected their lives and in others it may build up over many years and all of a sudden it hits you.

Suicide itself will always be taboo. The stigma around mental health issues and the thoughts of suicide that can accompany those MH issues should not though. It’s a sad story but the more people, in particular young men, who come out and talk about these issues the better for all. All the power to Majak.

Well done Majak for talking about this. He has had to overcome so much. Let's hope he leads a happy life from here.

It is so common for young men (and women) to go through horrible times like this and the more we can all talk about it, the more likely we can save lives. I am sick of suicide being a taboo issue in case it triggers other suicides or because people feel uncomfortable. I am truly sick of hearing about another mate who took his own life (happened again last month), not even having any idea he was going through anything at all

I know this was an attempt but think the articles were just trying to follow the Standards Relating to Suicide issued by the Australian Press Council.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
