Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This could be the only thing that may see him slip through to us.

Clubs are reluctant to take ruckmen early and the prospect of one that will take years of development could make some pause.  Plenty can go wrong in player development and the idea of a 200cm beanpole who has really only started to show his potential recently is a risk for a first round pick.

#11, Max Gawn, MFC's latest Premiership Captain, says hi

With the delisting for Bradke he would more than likely fill his list spot, possibly with more prospect of success.

It is essential that Gil and his henchmen ensure that there is a viable Victorian second tier competition, without the need for interstate travel, for 2022, to give a far better chance of development for all fringe listed players.    2020 and 2021 were unmitigated disasters for these players.

WAFL and SANFL look after their own - frankly the Sydney and SE Queensland teams can no longer be allowed to drag our teams down ... were there 22 clubs in the VFL this year?  Complete farce.

I can see Andrew going in between 15 and 20 not top 10 like the experts think but we will wait and see. The Academies are a complete farce.

Looks a great prospect and can see the wraps on him. Do find it curious though that he is rated as top 10 universally in the draft and didn't even make the top 10 in Dandenongs B&F. Missed a lot of games due to state duties?

Projection is everything it seems

The likes of Brodie grundy, Tim English, Coleman jones went pick 18ish and were already more accomplished than Andrew at their age. Ayce Cordy Was a bean pole and v good under 18, went pick 18ish as well.

I think the kid gets through. First pick who won't do anything for 2-3 years. That's a high price for that investment. Most clubs let others do the work and try to trade.

The question where is Ayce Cordy now, Mac Andrew maybe a Aaron Bratke Ayce Cordy or a Brody Grundy but it takes time 4-5 seasons of intense football in the VFL and AFL and the team that selects him must have a great deal of patience and a coach is not under the pump to get a premiership soon like Hinkley, Voss and Scott.

The success of Luke Jackson as a Forward/Ruck will see sides wanting to add similar players, from all accounts this guy will play a lot like Jackson.  Clubs copy the winning premiers formula you will see more Ruck/Forwards so guys like Andrew will be pursued by a number of clubs

I wouldn't be surprised to see him drift. Not past 20 (pipe dream) but something like 18. The reason why is because the top 6 is pretty much agreed upon with the draft watchers (and Andrews isn't in that list) and then there is a list of 10-15 that is the next group. What you might see happen is someone might have Andrew at 6 on their board, but have pick 3. Then others might have him 10-12 and have pick 15, but a player higher on their board is available.

There are some years that the first round of the draft looks like it could be done by a computer and you'll still get a good kid. This year isn't one of them and some weird (Max Holmes) things will happen.

But the best part. WE DON'T NEED TO WORRY BECAUSE WE ARE PREMIERS!

I've said all year I think he's a good chance to slip through.

But after seeing those highlights, surely a team that ends up with multiple top 20 picks will take a punt on him.  With limited exposure to U18 form you have to pick on potential and he has it in spades - even if he won't play at AFL level for a few years.

Ironically the game of Jackson in the GF prob has increased the value of mobile big men in the draft which (I think) will ensure he doesn't quite slip to us.

Nice highlights from The Big Mac

Can kick, can mark, can run, can handball

If the MFC really want him I say they will find a way to get it done

In Jason Taylor I trust

"If Mitchito Owens, who is a St Kilda academy player gets selected inside the top 20 - they won't be able to match a bid on him...A lot of the clubs I've spoken to like him in the 15-20 range." - Riley Beveridge

So at least it won't only be us potentially being stooged by this rule

Was the rule flag to start for this year with a few year warning, if so that I can live with.  But was it bought in after the bulldogs got the rated no.1. pick through their academy and could match and reaction to that? Then we should be [censored] off.

Even if we had access to him within the top 20, he'd wipe out an entire draft's worth of picks just to get up the points to select him in the top 10.
Hopefully a big slider on draft night.

If we are in fact out of the race for Adam Cerra, I suspect the club will look to trade into the first round (top 15) in the hope to secure Mac.

I doubt it. We don’t need another ruck and we don’t get him for a discount if we draft him inside the top 20.

Max is 29 and Majak 31. You could easily make a case for another young ruckman.

We are in the premiership window. We would be better off using our draft capital to increase our chances of winning now. Andrew is 20kg off AFL. If he falls in our lap we take him but otherwise we should go for players that can play in 2022/23.

Yeah, that's the short-term view but imagine having Jackson and Andrew running around for you in 2025!

Also, you can be one serious injury away from disaster...

If we want to get the benefits of the time we've already put into him, then we'll need to draft him, and it appears inside the top 20 (potentially 10).

As is common knowledge now, Mac Andrew is a development pick and likely wouldn't be ready for senior footy until 2024 or 2025. By that time Gawn will be 32/33 and likely coming towards the end of his career. Mac Andrew would be ready by then to step up and our ruck department is set for the next decade with a Jackson/Andrew ruck combination.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
