Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Age:  "Captain Ben McEvoy was one player who told senior staff that the situation was impacting on the playing group".

Clarkson plucked McEvoy from a career potentially slogging away at the saints.  He has two 2 premiership medals on the back of Clarkson and a handy group of champion players.  Clarkson made him captain.

I wonder how he and the other senior players spend their '30 pieces of silver'!

Would love him to coach us.

It seems like the Norm Smith curse all over again.

We can no pass the baton onto the Hawks.

Thanks Hawks

Couldn't it be the other way around? That is, that McEvoy was supporting Clarkson? Mind you, as Captain, his job would be to tell the club exactly the impact - positive or negative - of any situation.

Wowee. this all comes back on one bloke with an Ego comparable to Donald Trump and it's going to take the Hawks a long time to recover. they'll lose players this off season for sure.

and they had better options to coach than Sam Mitchell in my opinion, they've totally blown this.

If it was the other way ie supporting Clarkson he botched it.

If he was asked by management for the positives and negatives, he misjudged the agendas very badly and or didn't do a very good job of selling the positives.

Without yet knowing the ins and outs, it seems that Reeves and Vandenberg were ready and waiting for a reason to bring down the guillotine.  McEvoy didn't read the tea leaves.

I found his SEN interview with Whately hilariously raw and unprofessional. Not the kind of answers you give as the head of an organisation. It was soap opera play ground sounding stuff. Very Insincere in hindsight.

Easy to forget this guy is only 38. insanely young age to be a coach of a professional sporting organisation. Its going to come back to bite them hard.

I wondered about this. It's not as young as it might first seem. Clarkson was 37 when he started; Hardwick was 38. Going back a bit further, Sheedy was 34, Matthews 34 and Barassi (as playing coach) was 29.

Edit: Clarkson is now only 53. Clearly young enough to take on another senior coaching job if he wants.

I think Hawthorn are crazy to be getting rid of a 4 time premiership coach. Madness to give him the elbow for a rookie. If he has a good list at his next club he will deliver a flag.

What I find really distasteful is this is just one week after Clarkson made what looked like a sincere and impassioned declaration of his loyalty.

There may have been an element of:  I've got my principles so I'm not going to walk the plank.  If you want me gone you have to push me.  If so good on him for not letting them hide behind some smokescreen.

Whoever initiated this weeks player meeting with Reeves and Vandenberg could have waited a few weeks to the end of the season and given Clarkson some sort of dignified exit.   The Board could have said to the players:  we hear you but lets see how it goes for the next month.

Couldn't wait to EOS.  Instead they have hurriedly pulled down the architect of their success for no apparent good reason.  Thrown his loyalty back in his face.

Shameful by all concerned.

Simply can not agree that Yze would be 'tainted' if Goodwin under performed as senior coach. If that logic rang true then we'd run out of AFL coaches pretty quickly.

Assistant coaches who make the step up are typically working with successful clubs when they are selected. Can't recall too many clubs taking assistants from Gold Coast or Carlton as their new head coach recently. Don;t think we've lost any assistants recently either. A few years ago Collingwood assistants were all the rage because of Malthouse. Assistant's who have worked with Clarkson ditto (including Yze).

I'll bet if we are unsuccessful next year Yze's stock price will fall along with Goody's (I hope that doesn't happen of course)

Only thing is, we'd lose Yze and quite possibly Choco (if we haven't already by then) if Clarko came over.

IMO, if for some reason we change coaches in the next year or two it will be to put Yze in charge.

As much as I think Yze and Choco are doing a great job, so be it if it occurs! Who would NOT have Clarko?? I'll tell you what embarrasing loses to bottom sides wouldnt happen on his watch!

Hang on, Teague took over at Carlton right? He literally went from assistant to head coach at a poorly performing club.

About as shameful as the Melb board that sacked Norm.
Hawks won't have 57 years to wait and It is imperitive that we win a flag before Hawkswin their next now.

I think too many people got too triggered by her during the tankquiry (even though she was pretty much on the money as to what was going to happen).
She was right about Carlton's implosion in 2002. She was right about Hird and Essendon in 2013. She was right about us during the tanking saga. Eventually someone's track record should stack up, shouldn't it?

Often people can't handle the truth ...

Hey can't be proven as this years Hawks performances have been all over the shop right up there with the most unreliable in the AFL.

Tomorrow night the Hawks could  be on the bottom with one wing holding onto the wooden spoon!!!

I don’t discount Hawthorn having Fagan at the club during their glory years and the work I’m sure he did in the background keeping the train on the tracks and everyone happy and aligned. I also don’t discount the fact they turned to crap after Fagan left. And whilst they have an aging list, Clarko hasn’t done anything since Fagan left results wise that has me salivating at the prospect he’s available and can move us forward in a quest for a flag. All I see is bad results and reportedly bad relationships with those around him.

Feel free to load up.

And its not working out too well. Appointing the caretaker full-time is fraught with danger.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
