Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Clarko leaves Hawks

Yes but Clarko had to go through the motions and rattle the bucket to get his full payout that he rightfully deserves. He outplayed them right to the end.
Good luck Alistair Clarkson what a champion coach.!!!!!!!!

Kennett and Mitchell faking sincerity.

I found his SEN interview with Whately hilariously raw and unprofessional. Not the kind of answers you give as the head of an organisation. It was soap opera play ground sounding stuff. Very Insincere in hindsight.

Easy to forget this guy is only 38. insanely young age to be a coach of a professional sporting organisation. Its going to come back to bite them hard.

Like the NSC, it's not just the sacking in isolation (let's be real, that's what happened here). It's been a series of events dating back to 2006 where Kennett has been looking for ANY excuse to undermine Clarko or get him sacked. There will be a LOT of bad blood coming out of this.
I just hope that we get a Tony Charlton Football Show style interview. Like that show did with us, it will rip the scab off and lay bare the disloyalty that was shown to Clarko for nigh on 10 or so years by a bloke who was so 'devoted' to that club that he actually considered presidenting another one (thank God, we dodged that bullet).

We are technically the antithesis of everything he stood for. It just makes sense. ??

I'm 100% petty enough to hope this happens to HFC.  Never forgiven them (or Simon Eishold) for 1987.

I didn’t expect the Plan to go ahead into next year, but I thought Whorethorn would at least wait till October to say goodbye

What a way to treat a 4 Time Coach hey, We should know.
May Whorethorn implode from pure arrogance

So Mitchell’s interview with Whately a couple of weeks ago on SEN was a complete and utter lie, all of it!!

It's why I don't just knee jerk reject what David King says when he criticizes us. He was right on Neeld and right on what would happen to us in the 2018 prelim.
While we might not like the messenger, we should take them seriously if they have a track record of getting things right.

I have a great deal of respect for Caro and have been for many years regardless of what people think of her.

There is a reason why she has good well connected sources within clubs.

If we don't get to where we want to this year, we can directly blame that night against the Hawks. They were ripe for a thrashing. They had 10 of their best 22 out, put in a listless performance the week before Vs Freo and of course had this coaching turmoil to deal with.

We drew against an $8.50 side.

Carlton...

Looks that way and he has picked up full pay from Hawks for next year plus probably a $1.5m gig with the blues. Guessing he can buy another property off the back of somewhere north of say $2.5m for 2022.

I definitely do as well.
I think too many people got too triggered by her during the tankquiry (even though she was pretty much on the money as to what was going to happen).
She was right about Carlton's implosion in 2002. She was right about Hird and Essendon in 2013. She was right about us during the tanking saga. Eventually someone's track record should stack up, shouldn't it?

I hope he takes a year off. That way if things don;t work out with Goody then we are an option for him (not a Goody bash, he has done well this year but he'll be 6 years in the job at the end of next year.  I hope Goody does lead us to the promised land but some hard decisions may have to be made if no flag this year or next)

For those who have read the book "Red Fox" and the chapter on the sacking of Norm Smith, this is history repeating itself. Let me explain! I was so angry reading the story and how Smith was undermined by those around him. In the preceding chapters I discovered MFC were the family club, post training sausage sizzles, players loved the joint and I was trying to work out how this all changed and hawthorn somehow picked up the mantle of the family club. It was this lack of foresight, fall off in recruiting and aftermath of sacking and reinstalling an iconic coach that has left us in the void for the last 57 years.

Ironically the club that took on the mantle of family club has just followed the MFC route and sacked their legendary coach. This has Kennet all over it and maybe it is the Hawks who can now lift the Curse of Norm Smith and replace it with the Clarkson Curse.

As oft quoted George Santayana is credited with the aphorism, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it,” while British statesman Winston Churchill wrote, “Those that fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” I think the curse has officially been handed over. Go Dees

I don’t like her style of Reporting, never have. But she does have the Sources, most of the time. That i have been told and shown from TV Connections.
So i am not suprised by this overall.
But did SHE make it worse than what it was by her Media positions

Day after Day TV & Radio. Did this make Clarkson’s position even more untenable.
That is the part of Wilson i do not like.
She drives the nail in to get the Results she wants.
Did the same to us in 2013-14

Wilson made the “Tanking” saga bigger than what it was

Only thing is, we'd lose Yze and quite possibly Choco (if we haven't already by then) if Clarko came over.

IMO, if for some reason we change coaches in the next year or two it will be to put Yze in charge.

4 time premiership coach essentially sacked! unbelievable!

18 month succession plan reduced to 2 weeks.

Possibly one of the worst club decisions in the history of the game. Mitchell is starting on a hiding to none.

It may be one of the worst club decisions in the history of the game, but it still pales into insignificance besides sacking a coach who had been in four premierships as a player, six premierships as coach, and has an inferior side at the top of the ladder, on the basis that you don’t like his attitude to the committee……..

We my lose them anyways. We can't stand in the way of Yze if a top job elsewhere becomes available and Choco seems to have a use by date at any one club. If we do decide to change the coach it'll be because of under performance and hard to see how Yze wouldn't be tainted along with Goody. Pure conjecture on my part of course

For purely selfish purposes and keeping options open i hope Clarkson takes a year out

Senior players. WOW.

Machiavelli would have been proud of how it has all played out!!

Terrible way to treat a 4 time premiership coach.  Hope it comes back to bite them for decades to come.

Simply can not agree that Yze would be 'tainted' if Goodwin under performed as senior coach. If that logic rang true then we'd run out of AFL coaches pretty quickly.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
