Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Probably only accounts for their injured players, thus an even playing field. They are just a class above, in every way….intent, intelligence, skills. Casey this quarter are an embarrassment by comparison, no disguising it.

What a shame all our top spares sitting in a plane on the way back to Vic, another opportunity goes South for the club and you can’t get them back.!!!!

Ridiculously out of his depth in the AFL system. 3 years on the list and legit would struggle to get a game even at suburban level.

I mean this in the kindest way because I'm sure he's a hard worker and certainly comes from a good family. But he'd be the worst player I've ever seen on our list since Brendan Van Shaik.

For every Mason Cox there is always your Austin Bradtke's when taking a punt on these project types.

Thank him for his service at years end and move on.

Briggs, Stockdale, Freeman and Spark are serious ball butchers.

You can add Baker & Grey (outside of shots on goal) into that mix too Dazzle and to a lessor degree, at least today, Chunk as well.  Then there's Foot who burned two options for the greedy shot on goal at one point.

The Doggies showed us how to play team footy and were stronger in pretty much every aspect both at ground level in first possession,  clean distribution then spread on the outside, in the air, coming inside 50 and finishing on goal.  They held their feet more as well, much stronger through the core and better balanced, whereas too many Casey fellas were going to ground and / or unable to escape their direct opponent and under pressure often not taking first options ending up trying to do too much / getting caught.

Nev's decision to handball to chunk on one kick in in the third was diabolical.

There's not one decent deliverer coming inside 50 in the group that played today and no genuine target up forward without the Weid.  And while i realise Bell was filling in for Daw, he is a mile off, even at this level.

The other issue that stood out for me and this also applies to our senior team, when the opp gets a run on we seem unable to man up, even for a brief but meaningful period (say 10 to 15 minutes) within a quarter and shut down their momentum / force more turnovers.

I could also be wrong but we also appear to be happy to continue with a soft zone in our forward half, allowing opponents to find easy short targets out of the square and then do same up the field until about half way where they launch inside 50 or attempt to find a target on the lead.  Occasionally we force them to kick down the line early to about mid field but not often enough.  Against a skilled team like the doggies that's basically handing them the match right there.  And we do same at AFL level.  Haven't seen Goodwin alter this strategy all season and our opponents are having a field day playing off this weakness against us.

Kept looking for one or more players to wrestle back some sort of respect/control and say hey fellas come with me and lets turn this (momentary!?) shiiite fest around.  But alas.  There wasn't one player today you could say was worthy of a call up to senior level.

The other issue for me is that ground.  What a freakin shiiite place to learn the skills of the game with that crappy north westerly almost always blowing a gale from left to right across the field.  I would say no issue if it was only once in a while but it appears to be more often than not and a bloody blight on the game and players in general.  Get the hell out of Casey i reckon.  What a shiite hole.

While we obviously had a number missing we were pantsed after quarter time.  I would love to say i saw someone or something positive come out of it.  Something meaningful i mean that would potentially hold us in good stead if we needed in these last few rounds or finals but sadly i couldn't find a genuine serious player that might be capable of stepping up to make the grade or a difference at AFL level today.

A few players clearly are not quite up to AFL standard.  It showed that Casey had about a dozen VFL players.  With 6-7 taken to Brisbane for eventually no purpose, it was hard to watch the Casey boys be overrun.

Declase. Yes he should be on the list and could get a debut game shortly.

Jones.  Great to see him get back.  He might be very handy come finals time but unfortunately he may not force his way back in if we hit form again.

Lockhart. Really competed well and I’d definitely retain on the list.

Turner is one to keep.  Battled well and his judgement and marking fits as a backup for Lever.

Others like Baker and Bedford are fringe at best and disappointed.  A question to be asked at year end. Bradtke is a no.

For the dogs, Bedendo looked like he’d fit into our team.  At 19, he’s physically ready and good smart footballer. Good one touch footballer. Perhaps he is one to mark down for a end of 2022 conversation.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
