Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I’d be giving Jacko a few weeks off to freshen up. He could win us a final off his own back if he’s on song, so give him a breather and reset for the last 4 weeks.

Would have a look at the mix in the middle too, I’m not sure if I imagine it, but Viney changes the dynamic in such a negative way when he is in the side. He seems to block any avenues Trac and a Oliver have out of a stoppage and when he gets the ball himself, it’s diabolical.
He is so one-dimensional that you can see the body language change very quickly, not in a positive way. He upsets the balance immensely.

I think we are being exposed for a lack of depth still, Kossie, Riv and Jacko should not all be playing every week just yet. there’s just no one to replace them with

Won’t happen but I would give LJ a rest and trial Weideman in the same role, ruck/ forward/wing which he has been playing at Casey at times I think. And Melksham in for AVB or Viney.

Sad but true. Not holding marks and not kicking many goals. We are a fwd short. Not sure if Sw is the answer though.

ANB had 27 pressure acts, more than Pickett and Spargo combined. Do you want the guy who runs himself dog tired and fluffs the execution or the guys who look fresh as a daisy for the small moments they get it but have not run themselves into the ground? None will go but it is short sighted to go ANB whose primary role is defensive pressure.

What exactly is a pressure act? Surely the only real effective pressure act is a tackle not because you chased a bloke.

He was very up and down

Still seething that he just flumped on that ball deep in the last, needed to paddle in front like May often does

Silly comment.

Watched the replay, Petty didn't 'flumped' on the ball. The Hawks player jumped on Petty then dragged it into Petty and held it in there.

The dumbass umpire got sucked in by it.

Petty was just about BOG and took several crucial marks while Lever and May were both ordinary.

No unforced changes, the team selections aren't the problem in my opinion, it's the team psychology.

we seem to lack the ruthless, killer instinct against the lower sides, and we need to work out why that is, we've been lucky to win games without playing our best but to get the most out of this list, we need to really make sure we win games like that.

Viney and Neal Bullen need to work on their ground ball coz they're playing as if it's a bar of soap.

our defensive side was non existent, and it's been a while since we've been outworked that badly. and the umpiring was a joke.

Midfield needs a shake up plus injection of pace.

In Harmes for Viney omitted

In Sparrow for Jordon rested

In Baker for Vandenberg omitted

Move Salem in midfield for Brayshaw  omitted

In Bowey to cover Salem down back

In Weideman for Jackson rested

In Melksham for Neal-Bullen omitted

Mcdonald to play High HF/wing

Use Rivers through the midfield as well

I am writing this from Koowingebora, looking for players to fill all the changes you want to make. In the paper this morning "The Koowingebora Chronicle"ther is this side called Melbourne on top of the ladder. Some people must have done something right over a period of time to get there. Like Jordan (Spieth) we can all miss 2 footers.

Shift Viney to small fwd (provide tackling pressure ) ala Cyril (but not as quick !!) and use Kozzie as an On Baller (outside Mid)

see early this year i would have agreed, but he's not got his touch back yet, so he's too fumbly, it'll get better in time, but god we need to bounce back hard next week.

The more I think about it the more I agree, but Harmes will have to come back in for Vanders.

We have won 2 out of last 5, 4 out of last 8, our form is ordinary, with PA game an exception.

Travelling to Darwin then returning for the Bulldogs is an ideal opportunity to make changes.

No player should be selected because they ‘try hard’ ie Viney, Neal-Bullen, Vandenberg, everyone should be judged on their Net Worth to the team.

The enormous gains made earlier will evaporate if we continue in our current form.

I'd look at shifting JJ back to half forward and pure mid time. He can fill a gap for us on the wing, but I reckon Gus has to play there.

JJ's tackling around the ball and cleanness has been lacking since his move to the wing. He had one of his highest TOGs for the season (82%) and collected just the 20 disposals with two tackles. He may be tiring, but I reckon we miss his hardness and decision making at the contest.

FOLL: GAWN, OLIVER, VINEY

IC: HARMES, HUNT, JORDON, SPARROW

SUB: BAKER

IN: BOWEY, MELKSHAM, SPARROW, HARMES

OUT: B.BROWN, JACKSON, RIVERS, VANDENBERG

Rivers form has been shocking so give Bowey a go not Lockhart he turns the ball over too much.

It will be slippery at Darwin play to the conditions and go small dropping Jackson and Brown.

Do you seriously think that NT will allow us and GC into Darwin?  Playing at GC far more likely.

Yeah fair enough so the only change I would make Harmes for Vanders the players have to take responsibility for their terrible game on the weekend.

Although I just love what Jackson brings to the ruck esp centre clearances he is looking fatigued (yes, I know, only 2 weeks pier mid season break) and I am starting to come around to “resting” him particularly given that VFL looks highly unlikely, again.
Is it worth giving Daw a week or maybe 2 as back up ruck?

I look forward to a refreshed Jackson for the run home.

We're almost certainly not playing this game in Darwin so any proposed changes based on the venue of the match are misguided IMO.

There's also no guarantee we play GC at all next week.

Meanwhile the pressure acts stat is revealing again.

The top three on the ground were Hawthorn midfielders: Mitchell, Shiels and O'Meara.

Our best: Viney 31, Petracca 30, ANB 27, Oliver 25 and Jordon 21.

Forwards: ANB 27, Pickett 16, Brown 13, Fritsch 11, TMac 9, Jackson 8, Spargo 6.

I'm confident the FD will keep giving ANB games when he rates highly in this stat. It's what he's in the team for.

I'm also confident that Spargo's number is lower than the FD want. If we're going to play a forward who is a nice kick inside 50 but doesn't tackle (two tackles, none inside 50) and only gets 11 touches, I wonder whether Melksham can do a better job of that role?

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
