Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Geelong request change of venue

If they qualify for a home final they will request - and be granted - a home final

So if we have to play them or the dogs do and say they are letting 50 or 60 percent crowds in by then they will play it at gmhba. I seriously doubt it.

186 times somewhere that can't be named

Heh! I was there for that game in amongst the Geelong supporters. Staring off into the middle distance for 3 and half quarters.

I've said it a few times here, but the comeuppance was when they celebrated Corey Enright's 300 *prior* to the match with plenty of fanfare. It felt like they believed the home win was a foregone conclusion.

If I recall Bernie Vince played a blinder down here and we won by perhaps 3 goals. It was deathly silence. And instead of staring off into the middle distance... I stared every [censored] in the eye... ?

Anyway, 186 wasn't Geelong's doing. It was the MFC's doing.

I got laid on the day of 186 (by a Collingwood supporter no less, and some serious kinky stuff too, possibly enough to make @Bitter but optimisticblush). Beautiful memories. Life goes on. The crazy thing was that we were still in the hunt for the finals. We tanked out the last end of 2011. Go cats. We've destroyed them in every important match over the past few years. May it continue. Does anyone really give a [censored] about that retirement home down the road?

I guess if its their home game its fair enough.

What I will say is that the cats are a good side but their home advantage is one of the biggest around if you look at their success there.

Its akin to having to rock up to Victoria park or Windy Hill.

Take it away and they would be a much lesser team over the last twenty odd years.

Or take away your Melbourne goggles. I once drove from Melbourne to Geelong. Had to get in the car. It's a different place.

I hate the Cats (real cats too) and went straight to outrage when I read the story on the AFL site but I couldn’t maintain it when I realised that a home team wanted to play match at home instead of away. Seems reasonable

I'd love to know the reasoning behind this.

The chance of there being a crowd greater than GMHBA's capacity is probably 0%. Why must the game be played at the MCG?

Probably because the AFL has bigger issues to deal with than Geelong’s sooking. Even with no crowd moving games and venues is a big job.
AFL doesn’t need to waste their precious little time on this bull crap.

Top 4 worst case scenario.

We finish 3rd or 4th and have to play Geelong.
COVID-19 lockdown still in place and Cats successfully appeal to AFL to hold QF at Kardinia…

I think that's right.

If we finish 3rd or 4th, in all likelihood 1 and 2 are the Dogs and Geelong.

I'm sure it's possible that, say, Port doesn't lose again and finishes top 2, whilst one of the Dogs and Geelong collapses worse than we do so that we finish above them.

Most likely outcome, you'd think, is Dogs/Geelong top 2, we finish 3-4. Otherwise we slide further and drop to 5th or 6th.

I hate the thought of agreeing with Geelong, it's a bit like agreeing with Nigel Farage. However, trying to take all bias out of it, why can't they play their game at home when there are no crowd capacity issues? Why don't Richmond have to play there like we do?

Am I missing something from over here?

The cats are a bunch of insufferable whingers

but asking for your home game at your home ground is hardly unreasonable

If i was a Geelong fan i'd be annoyed. Fans can't attend so commercially doesn't make much of a difference - why not play at their home ground which suits them better.

But also ahaha @ Geelong.

It’s a joke that all Victorian clubs don’t have to play there like us. But that aside, you can’t just move venues at the drop of a hat. The AFL is dealing with so much trying to keep the season going.
Geelong’s minor inconvenience is literally the last of anyone’s concerns. That they even bring it up right now shows what a complete bunch of arrogant self centered [censored] they are.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
