Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Also, wtf was Hinkley doing with Aliir? Firstly, he starts his best interceptor on Ben Brown. That's a win for Melbourne as they lose his intercepting. Then he moves Aliir forward...? Mind blowingly poor coaching.

Sydney threw Aliir around cause (I think) he has fairly questionable decision making & disposal. But he didn't do anything wrong that I could remember tonight, so no idea why he was moved.

Pretty bloody good all round effort with the exception of goal kicking (again). Really liked the tempo of the game and our ability to surge when needed. That 3rd quarter was nerve wracking. Our pressure dropped away only slightly and Port took a few chances. It really was a bit of individual brilliance that saved us in that quarter, thanks TMc.

Viney and Harmes were frustrating to watch, getting the ball just to cough it up by handballing to someone's feet. Good defensive efforts by them both though.

Trac, Clarrie, Salem were great. Trac got onto the end of a few as well so good for him.

Our forward line seemed more open and dangerous. TMc was all class. I liked BB's disposal into the 50m arc on a few occasions, with a few lace out presentations. He managed to get well up the ground and presented really well. Seems a much better option than Weid based on that first performance back.

Kossie is back in town after a few quiet weeks. His tackling intensity was brilliant and created opportunities for others and hit the scoreboard himself. I believed he was in need of a break, happy Goody knows the players better than I?. Spargs good, but would have liked more pressure from him, he lays a mean tackle for a little bloke.

Langers seems off the boil, his touch has been off the last couple of weeks.

Backline brilliant again, I needn't say more.

Bring on the Hawks. It really would be great to keep building the percentage up. Top 2 would be brilliant. Not overly interested in playing the Lions up north or the Cats at Kardinia..

I thought Viney played quite well this week. Skill still so so but had 10 tackles, heaps of pressure acts and was an excellent nuisance foil tripping up ports inside ball movement.

I'm also very happy to eat humble pie. I knew from the first 5 mins that we 'came to play'. I thought the goal on half time was going to bury us and change the momentum and it largely did in the 3rd quarter as they got back to within 7 point but we steadied and kicked 2 and that was pleasing.

Still very poor goal kicking because we kicked about 4 goals from the goal square but we get a week to focus on it, AGAIN.

Now please, good lord, please bring this pressure against the bottom 8 teams.

Im def ok with viney getting more tackles and/or pressure efforts than disposals.

BBB kicked 10 last time against Port, that is what I meant by scars in my previous post.

Anyone who can’t see what Brown did for us tonight is not watching hard enough. He drew defenders in a contest, he brought ball to ground. He gave Tmac Fritta and Jacko opportunities to play one on one and on the lead.
Opposition defenders worry about Brown. He’s a big unit. You don’t just forget he’s there. He command respect and a good solid opponent. It’s little wonder Tmac had one of his best games of the year tonight. He finally wasn’t being breathed on by 6 defenders!

Our midfield was absolutely outstanding tonight. Gawn back to his best.

Tonight proved to me that when we are switched on, and when we can bring our signature pressure, we can beat anyone.

Edit: if anything ever happens to Steven May we are royally [censored].

Last week 6 tackles inside 50. This week 19.

The game style needs forward pressure to work and it worked perfectly tonight.

100% agree but it also needs those big blokes to bring it to ground to allow the smalls to go to work

You beauty, back on.

That is the bread and butter stuff. Lead and keep the lead. Only a few spectacular plays. Mainly based on pressure with a 4 quarter effort and forcing Port to play on our terms.

We got the ball.

They only got off the leash a couple of times and when they got a run on we were able to eventually respond.

Oh, we can hurt teams, bruised, battered and put back in their box. Are the Port now broken?

Still some things to work on;

Handballs were picked off and sometimes given to a player under pressure.

Set shots and snaps can be better.

I thought some of our peripheral vision and finding the man was great.

The forward line was looking better.

That game of Oliver and Tracc.

Plenty of cameos;

Kossie and his finishing, plus his tackling and effort.

Petty doing intercepts when Lever and May had their hands full.

Hunty playing smarter, with some dash and being able to hit up the lead.

A few got going as the game developed, including, Gawn, Gus, Viney, Jordon, Spargo, Hibbs and Rivers.

BBB (he will be better for the run) and Tmac (playing angry) seem to play well together, only saw one time they got in each other's way.

Langdon's game will take the next step when he can get those snaps, and shots on the run right.

Viney is still not finding space, but he is getting in and under, and applying pressure well, also needs more laser in his passes.

May kept their muscle forward quiet, beating him at his own bustle them out, game.

The clearances started to work for us.

We proved ourselves again, well played Dees.

Btw, did anyone notice that Steve was slurring his speech a little in the post game interview, late concussion or was it just a shït microphone set up?

Yes! I noticed it. I don’t think it was a microphone issue. It especially stood out because he usually speaks quite well.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
