Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Adelaide and Pies were too

I didn’t say they were beatable. I said they were forgettable as in they don’t pose any threat to us in terms of ladder position therefore it’s easy to forget we’ve got them this week.

Quoting last week.. @Dr.D

"And this is why Cody Weightman is better then Kossie Pickett.

Weightmans stats vs Sydney: 5 disposals 0 goals and 2 tackles.

Let this sink in why this guy is a dead set muppet.

Mate, you'd have to do some serious digging to find the last intelligent thing he said, i'm pretty convinced he's a troll, because i don't think anyone could get it so wrong, so consistently by accident.

This round could not have panned out much  better from our perspective.

It would have been handy if Carlscum didn’t kick 1:12, or whatever. If they’d kicked with average accuracy, they’d have beaten the cats.

I think it was Justin Leppitsch on Thursday night that said words to the effect off “All teams will have a dip in form at some stage throughout a season, you can’t be up all the time.” Difference between us and say the Dogs and Lions is that our losses could be put down to mental fatigue or similar. I think that definitely applies to the losses against the Crows and Pies, the loss to the Giants was a combination of fatigue and team selection. But when we’ve come to play our best has been better than that of all other teams currently inside the top 8 of which we have played six, we are yet to play the Eagles this season. Being able to put lower placed teams away by 10 plus goals only counts for so much if that same form can’t get you wins over fellow top 8 sides.

In fact, it’s cold as hell apparently?

I remember at one point in the telecast, they showed a guy with a kind of flame thrower, melting the ice forming on the concrete standing area as it was considered hazardous.

True, but the other thing that's been a little different with our losses is we could've actually won all of them. We were in them all right up until the last seconds.  Even at our worst we are still competitive.

Of course he's a troll.  Put him alongside @olisikand you'll get a couple of potatoes with an IQ of -2.

Both suit each other to the Tee.

Ok, updating this to swap Fremantle in for Richmond (West Coast can't drop out of the 8 unless they lose to North and shed 13%, so I feel pretty safe this time...):

  1. Melbourne - 6-0
  2. Bulldogs - 5-3
  3. Sydney - 4-3
  4. Geelong - 4-3
  5. Brisbane - 3-4
  6. West Coast - 2-4
  7. Port - 2-5
  8. Fremantle - 1-5

I feel less morally compromised barracking for Norf tomorrow than for Colonwood today.

This is very true.

The only sides right now who look genuinely bad right now are Hawthorn and Adelaide.

Guess who we have in our run home, by the way...

But everyone down to Richmond in 12th will consider themselves a chance for finals, Carlton in 13th doesn't have a single game left vs any of the top 8, and Gold Coast in 14th is in season-best form and has the competition's most in-form midfielder.

So many people ran ladder predictors and assumed the Dogs, Brisbane and Geelong would all coast through with either 0 or 1 more loss for the season. the last round or two make it clear, I think, that there are going to be more upsets. Let's just hope we're not the victim of any more of them.

Interesting analysis on Firat Crack tonight on how Weitering played Hawkins. He tried to play off him and then use closing speed at the last moment, so Hawkins couldn't engage in a physical tussle that he'd likely win.

It's obvious strategy, but given how well we set up by the ball, May has the perfect attributes to play Hawkins this way too. I think even Petty and Lever could play him this way. This gives us options to counter.

Fascinating, because without Cameron, if a defence can shut down Hawkins as a focal point, it leaves Rohan as the only other genuine threat.

Oh and the Bulldogs are unlikely to threaten during finals. Their defence is ordinary and take Naughton out of their forwardline and suddenly it's Josh Bruce as your main man. That's really not a top 4 forwardline.

That said, flags are won from the midfield with solid defence. I just can't see their defence holding up, no matter how good their midfield is.

Yet the Bulldogs are still ahead of us in the premiership betting odds & we’re equal with Geelong ?‍♂️

Seems like the bookies favour flash football over grit even though grit’s what usually comes out on top come the pointy end of the season.

Tell that to Ross Lyon.

Haven't the Tiger supporters dropped off. And by supporters, I mean Bikers, people who like the vibe of Swan St and those who decided they'd follow the footy on September 15th, 2017.

Got a bunch of mad Tiger supporters at work who magically started appearing out of the woodwork around that time.
Been telling me all year that you don't win flags in may/june/july as they smugly expected their train to start rolling towards another flag in september.
Turns out you might not win them then but you can certainly lose 'em.
Funnily enough I haven't heard a peep for the last month.
One gave me the Melbourne team picture from the herald sun along with a smartarse comment before the season started.
I hung it straight up over the table he sits at for lunch and it's still there mocking him now.

Also have a niece who had been a Melbourne supporter all her life who got a new richmond supporting boyfriend around that time and decided to change teams.
Turns out she's now such a mad tiger she sports a pair of skanky Richmond premiership tatts.
Not that it's any great surprise.
She has a string of dumb decisions to her name.
Might not be entirely her fault as both her parents are morons.

There's no reason to assume Naughton will miss any more than one week. Dunkley's 1-2 weeks away, so will be back by finals. Treloar's going to struggle but is in contention to be back by finals. Stefan Martin's likely to be back by finals.

I forgot Easton Wood's also out, so there's a sixth best 22 player who didn't play yesterday.

They went into yesterday missing their FF, FB, first ruck, intercept defender and two top 50 midfielders. Sydney played well so it's no wonder the Dogs lost. But it's premature to write them off altogether on the back of that one game.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
