Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Time to panic?

Like Covid here in Nsw.... things have taken a turn for the worse.
A few of us were talking about our grand finals tickets.
Yes I blame you people.
We are still 12 ...3 but are slipping down the ladder almost as fast as my Agl shares on the Asx.
We have a tough run home too.
Our mids have been all over the place and our forward line so many of us( well I was) ....excited about our options seems to have imploded.
Our slow starts are a mystery and a huge problem.
It may not be panic stations yet but its getting close.
How big is our Port game?
What needs to be done re
1.
Our fwd line
2.
Our slow starts.
3.
Our fifty entries.
4.
Our clearances.

We lack mental toughness at the min. We have gone from sharing the ball and desiring the team ethics to players thinking they can do everything themselves.
Viney burning Trac and then next qtr Trac could have squared the ball to Viney but went for the long kick to the goal sqaure made me wonder if he did it on purpose.

FWIW Liam Pickering had a good take on Crunch Time (SEN) today. Reckons it’s just a little dip in form and our issues are fixable with games under the belt in the run home.
there was a 10-15 min segment discussing Dees and the theme was ‘no panic yet’

Clearances are non existent out of centre, something needs to be done about that.

The forward line needs another tall, other Weed or Brown, and either ANB or Kozzie need a rest.

Wouldn't be as worried had we won two out of the last three against teams who are well below us.

IMHO the rot started setting in against the Pies and has ebbed through the team since.

We were effectively a man down while Weid was in and now with Viney back we've been a man down since his return also.  He might get back to his best given enough time but for the moment he is a liability through the middle.

We looked a bit better when Harmes played more mid time vs Viney prior to his return.

We were one inside mid too many y'day and a KF short with the obvious move (once the radar showed very little chance of rain) BB in for Sparrow.  BB was a chance of kicking at least two and there's your over the line win.  We would still be sitting two clear of everyone and a loss against Port would not be so critical to ladder position.  Instead we now find ourselves up against it fighting for a top four place if we do.

It's amazing how much better a forward line clicks and how much incentive you offer those coming off HB/through the middle, at center bounces to extract the pill, run their guts out and link up to get it there when you know you have a tall target who can mark on a lead and overhead vs even the tallest opponents ...AND convert!  Same with the smalls crumbing the spills.

The selectors /  Goody only have themselves to blame for ignoring BB's form the week before, missing the opportunity to stretch the Giants backs and make the most of our entries inside 50.  Dumbest non selection of the year and it may cost us dearly.

Form is a fickle thing and we may struggle to find it again with only seven weeks left against some very tough opponents.

I agree, you can tell by how we share the ball and hit the corridor if we are on or not, and even vs ess we were not in good form.
teams have dips, swans just have come out of one, it’s a matter of how long we have it and how many we lose whilst in it.

Goodwin is too arrogant to make basic changes, he’ll stick with these blokes again next week

Problem we have now is the teams around us fighting for top 4 have much easier runs than us so for us to finish top 4 we will need to have at least 2 wins out of our games against port, bulldogs, Geelong and Eagles while winning the ones we should, on current form I have us finishing 5th and playing Essendon or Richmond in an elimination final

Interesting the word 'panic' is used instead of 'action' in which there are plenty of resources to deal with an our form slump - some are so obvious it angers quite a few of us that the FD has not taken these, nor predicted such needs. Crunch time will come as a consequence but could be avoided entirely; show us the light, Chocko and Ooze.

It sounded like he would at his presser but I think he will reluctantly make some changes.

Others will be advising him to I reckon and Im sure Goody will see we need a tall.

To be painfully obvious, our smalls cant crumb what tall defenders mark or punch to their players.

Fritta is a good player but hes not big or strong enough to play full forward.

He is great on a lead but the manner in which it was delivered at times didnt help.

Im not even against Daw if the club is adamant bbbs not up to it

I dont want to revisit weid.

Whats the scoop on Mitch Brown?

Is there anyone else?

Should Jackson spend less time off the ball?

Or should Tmac just stay in the square if he doesnt?

I can handle losing to GWS and even Adelaide in Adelaide. But losing to Collingwood... I think that says a lot. Our form since the Brisbane game has been very average. Collingwood is stupendously average.

No point panicking

We are either the real deal or just had a nice run and the reality bus is about to crash into us head on

Tbh my 50 plus years supporting this club would suggest the head on collision is imminent - I would love to think I’m wrong but when you look at the last few weeks and the run home this team has it work cut out

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
