Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Going o be tough to get a kick out at Casey tonight let alone kick a goal.  If VB performs tonight he will likely be in.

Our Forward line looked crowded and disorganised. Can Brown navigate around that? Sooner or later he will have to get a go.

How does vandenBerg fix our midfield problem? Who does he replace and what does he bring that the player he's replacing doesn't? And can we carry someone who can't kick when one of our biggest current problems is poor kicking forward of centre?

Actually I commented how the boys came out laughing and smiling.

Thought it was a good sign.....enjoying themselves....confidence.

Turned out to be just a lack of intensity and passion.

This will horrify some people on here, but I believe we're a better team with Melksham in it.

His form has been average to poor, but I'd still have him ahead of Sparrow.  Sparrow is a young player worth persisting with, but he has plenty of time.  An in form Melksham makes us infinitely better.

In: Melksham

Out: Sparrow

Lots needs to improve and I understand the calls for Brown, they're understandable, but I'd like to see the smaller version for a couple more weeks.

I agree and equally am horrified but the key is "in-form". For two years he's been playing like a bloke who's afraid of being hurt. Pleasingly in last week's Casey game he went as hard at the ball and the man as I've seen in quite some time. I just hope he builds on that tonight & presses his claims. Because as you say, at somewhere near his best he makes us much, much better.

Even his best I50 delivery however is gonna struggle with our forward strategy. A 25 year old Tony Lockett would struggle to get a kick the way we are going about it. Those that see the inclusion of BBB as some sort of panacea are dead set kidding themselves. Nothing to do with Weid or BBB. It's a system issue rather than a personnel problem.

Well good for you.

I don't.

We're 12-3. We may be in a form slump right now but if you want to give the season up, feel free.

I sure as [censored] hope the players and coaches have more resilience than you.

And “hope” being the operative word. We have peaked too early. Have a look around. Brisbane starting to flex muscle, Geelong give up a 4 goal deficit to win by 7 against a side we struggled to beat, Dogs going beautifully. And we are doing what? We will be 5th by end of next round. We cannot kick goals. TMac has fallen off a cliff, but then we did try to trade him last year. May I ask, we’re you at the game today? Because they never gave a yelp. Outplayed by the team sitting 9th. Do you really think the Giants would have beaten Brisbane, Geelong, Bulldogs or Port today, at their HOME grounds?

Then why was sparticus our tallest fwd at times in the past two games.

One of the Browns may not win us games but certainly cant make us score less. So bring one in.

Bit harsh on the calls to drop Hunt. When the game was in the balance he was trying to lift us.

He got done holding the ball twice. One of them was a joke where he had no prior opportunity and the other he took 2 bounces but had no options because our forward line isn't functioning yet.

It is a bit harsh but it’s not based just on today. He was good last week but he has dropped off over the past 5-6 weeks imo and I’m starting to doubt whether we can rely on him when the pressure comes.

We don’t need players to ‘try and lift us’ by running 60 yards and losing the ball. We need them to do the simple thing. If no one is on, then look around, slow down. It wasn’t just the two HTBs, he had several excellent chances to pass the ball and advance our attack and failed. This lack of focus and concentration is why he was so poor in 2019 and 2020

Have been arguing for some time that JV clogs our midfield up. He would be brilliant as a small fwd. He would have a more restricted role and be more explosive, whereas in the Midfield he does not "clear the area" and it (the midfield ) becomes clogged up

Agreed. He’s possibly surviving on name alone.
I was at the game today and there was very little to enthuse. Wasn’t particularly quick, didn’t dispose of the ball by foot with any consistency and wasn’t a physical presence.

No chance Viney gets dropped. Goodwin absolutely loves him. Go back to last weekends presser to hear about it.

Get use to Viney, we've got another 5 years wit him..

No Viney, Harmes and Sparrow in the same team. Harmes stays, as does Sparrow.. Todd Jnr is a spud, poor disposal, poor decision making and when he has the ball, just tried for a stoppage.. we are not a stoppage team anymore.

Been saying it for ages, but time for Salem in the middle. Need Class to compliment Clarry.

Hibbo out, Viney out

Brown and a small defender?

Please mate, have an early night tonight.

Tmac has always been very reliable but boy the wheels have just fallen off.

Why the hell when, what, 35-40 meters out on a slight angle does Tommy do the banana and not a drop punt?  As bad as Jackson’s dribble last week and far more costly.

In: BBB, Melksham, Jones

Out: Viney, Sparrow, Pickett

Match Committee need to slap themselves in the face for not trying BBB against GWS in light of our forward line line issues, his recent form and our position on the ladder. Goodwin keeps saying we're still working on our forward line mix - by Round 16 a top 4 MUST have this.

Geelong, Brisbane, Port all have this.

Sparrow, Jordon, Harmes seem too similar - high tackle numbers and low game time. Trust Harmes to run out more of a game and give him a job (Wines).

Melk also deserves more game time - at times this year he's played OK but barely gets any continuity on the ground. Needs a clear role in the middle that suits his skill set.

I'd also be interested to see Salem get a few runs through the middle - could rotate with Melksham (who's played HB before), or even Brayshaw. Just a taste to see how they go as rebounders.

I am going to cop it for this suggestion, but I'd like to see Jones get another midfield run in the vein of Boak. I know they have different skill sets, but Jones as a HF is just a waste of time, and his decision making in close is still sharp. Given our overreliance on Oliver and Petracca in the middle it could have impact in bursts. He only needs to play about 60%.

Pickett out of form and needs to be managed. Opposition are really clued into his game style by now. Needs a chance to stop and refocus and come back with a more sustainable, less manic game.

I'd also like to see Bowey get a run but now is not the time.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
