Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hope so Nev. He was named emergency which means he's super close.

Tmac can't do it all on his own.  Part time rucks aren't forwards.

Bring in a forward who can kick straight from 40m.

Bring in a forward who will take the opposition tallest back

Bring in a forward who can take a mark

Is there anyone you can think might be able to do that?

I think it might come down to his GPS numbers as much as the numbers of goals.
If he's fit and moving well, I'd think he comes in for a look.

Had a poor game no doubt, but did you see the chase, when he chased down about 4 different Bombers, putting pressure on each one’s disposal? It was sensational team first  efforts and gut running at full pace.

No one else in our team could have done it.

I said to my son late in the game we needed a contribution from Fritch. I meant something like a goal. But that pressure act on the wing to get the ball over the boundary was almost as good.

The bummers could have hurt us if Fritch hadn't intervened.

Agree we need a big forward.

I'm just not sure BBB style matches our game. He's a hit-up lead and mark forward that leads out of the square into a space. Need some more polished foot skills for I50s delivering to him.

Our style is either bomb it in OR fast break through the line / over the back. We've seen BBB fail dismally underneath the bombs a few weeks back, and you can't hit-up when there's a fast break, everyone is running bavk from the high pushed up defence, including the Full Forwards

For me we really need an in form Weed (which we can't find), and perhaps a Mitch Brown or even Majak might be better suited to the game style than BBB.

I tend to agree that Weid and Mitch are better suited to our game style, but there’s no denying that Ben Brown commands the attention of a proper tall back.

The bombers talls had it very easy in defence at times, lots of uncontested marks.

There is little chance a forward line of T-Mac and Fritta stands up against Geelong or WC in a GF. Jacko is creating a bit of an issue in my opinion, he’s too good a player to leave out but also doesn’t do enough in the forward arc to be considered a permanent forward. I do not want to lose Jacko, but think his position creates a little lack of balance.

I also think Max played a lot better when he was going it alone

Based off Goody's presser last night and the way Jones has played today, I would imagine there is a chance we'll see Jones back this week as well.

Kozzie hasn't been bad, but he has not been clean, and not getting a tackle for the game, when he's one of the leading tacklers in I50 for the comp, might be worth just freshening him up for a spell.

In: Jones (from sub), BBB

Out: Sparrow, Kozzie (as sub)

Sparrow hasn't done a lot wrong either TBH

This.

Love luke jackson although he dropped off in the game. He will be a very good player and is a true package.

But yes he and Gawny who was excellent were often playing way up the ground only metres apart a good deal of the game.

We desperately needed a tall up fwd at times as Fritta who is great in space is not tall or strong enough to take a contested pack mark.Or bring the ball to ground. Also oir fwd pressure was poor. Maybe not poor but dons were too tall and simply waltzed out of our fifty way too easily.

For the inside 50s we hardly scored.

Not only can Tmac not do it by himself he has also dropped in form over the last few games so another strong fwd is essential.

Ok Mfc even if you wont back bbb there must be someone to play. Roll the dice and sort it out so we can win a flag but yesterdays experiment wont cut it.

It was a good win against a quality side but it was off the back of our backs.( and mids).

Yes, a poor game from Ben should not make him an inclusion next week. Reward best performers in twos.

If this is correct then I withdraw my assumption the club is at odds with him.

Apologies. Its a worry if hes not performing there and I hope for our sake he can turn things around.

I think he was dropped unfairly but it he was still lucky to get in before sw.

It happens. Come on bbb get your mojo back.

Still leaves the issue of we need another big body up fwd.

Apart from Mitch what else can we do?

IN: Brown

OUT: Sparrow

I really like Sparrow and he was good for the amount of game time he had, but seems the most likely option.

Jones or Melksham could possibly be close for Kozzy or Spargs who need to find a bit of form. Probably get one more week though based on their form the rest of the season.

This is spot on. This will be the one change this week. You don’t have to be a genius to identify that we are lacking presence up there. If the AFL media are picking up on it, then the coaches also know it.

When we beat GWS earlier this year, Phil Davis went down early while Fritsch got some lucky breaks on Haynes and Pickett bobbed up with 4.

Pickett will not kick 4 again this time, Fritsch will be lucky to get as many shots on goal against Haynes while if Davis blankets Tmac, then we won’t kick a winning score. BBB must come in to stretch this Giants defence otherwise we will lose it at selection.

Whilst this isn't an unreasonable argument, this GWS defence you speak highly of just conceded 90 points to Hawthorn.

Dylan Moore, 176cm tall, kicked 4.1, whilst Tim O'Brien, a distinctly mediocre tall, kicked 2.2.

I’d try something different with our forward mix and replace ANB with Brown, because even though he is a good pressure player he hardly troubles the scoreboard for a forward.

Chunk for Sparrow who can consider himself unlucky as he hasn’t done much wrong , but doesn’t t get enough of it for mine. Jones will be an upgrade.

Bowey the Sub, been really impressed with this kid. Skillful, works hard and good decision maker.

Vandenberg looked good today too and just might work his way back into this team as he gets his fitness back.

BBB kicked 5.2 in the VFL today. Weid 1 goal late in the 4th. Not sure how Mitch Brown went.

1.  Sideshow Bob kicked 5.2 today.  Bring him in.

2.  Mitch Brown went off injured early in today's game.  Not in consideration.

3.  There's only one "o" in Goulburn.  :D

For most of the game I felt we needed another marking option in the forward line.

I think we need to try Ben Brown again, but I'm not 100% convinced, particularly because I'm not sure who makes way.

I see the arguments for Pickett. He's been off the last few games. But there are clearly risks with taking his pressure and speed from the forward half out of the side.

Did Sparrow do enough to hold his spot? I liked what he did but 11 disposals from 55% time on ground, is that something we can improve on with Brown?

I think Koz needs to properly understand that he's playing for his spot every week, and that the early excitement he generated amongst fans and pundits does not equate to a guaranteed selection week in, week out. And next week it's a rest, for my liking.

Not sure who comes in - whether it's a small forward or tall - but if it's Melksham we can live in hope that his recent demotion sent a message that has been understood.

Watching Casey today, reckon Brown Bowey or Chunk should come in, Sparrow, ANB out, should try to find room for Chunk, he killed it today

Maybe Spas but not Nibbler. Anb will recspture his better form.

Also bbb in so im not sure who comes out if we want chunk...but great to see hes back.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side.
