Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I like this change and I like the forward structure that is named.

Viney in is a big plus in my opinion a is the retention of Sparrow.

Gawn and Jackson to spend time in the forward 50 as will Petracca.

I don't know why we picked Ben Brown in the first place. Waste of a pick. I think it's a mistake Sparrow doesn't deserve his spot in the team.

I don't really understand why Brown was dropped in the first place & a bit disappointed to not see him in,

Game 1: 2 goals
Game 2: 3 goals
Game 3: 0 goals, with Brown, Weid, McDonald, Fristch all in the same forward line

I understand the fitness perspective but surely his output while underdone was more than good enough to persist?

Brown's first year was always going to be a bit hit and miss after his injury, he has 3 more after this one so settle.

I thought Sparrow would miss this week, but I don't mind the idea of ramping up the pressure in the forward half with him and Viney both rotating through there.

A lot of responsibility now falls on TMac to have a good game. He either needs to have a lot of score involvements or hit the score board.

Maybe the footy dept don't just look at total goals as far as what they want from a player and how their section of the ground functions?

And really, all Brown had to do was kick a couple of goals at Casey to get back in and he didn't get anywhere near it. Unfortunately from him that was followed by the lockdown and no opportunities at VFL level.

[censored] I hope total goals are the main KPI for a key forward

Fair.

There was always a debate to be had about whether we go in with another tall or not. I was of the view we should have put B Brown in, but I can understand going without.

I'd make Jones the sub to give Chandler a full game at Casey.

Jones ahead of Sparrow & Chandler at this point.  Sparrow was out of his depth last week against a bottom 4 team.  Both he and Chandler need more time to develop their game downstairs.

Jones is the real deal and comes with years of experience that can't be produced in a few rookie matches in the big games.  While he is nowhere near his form of two to three seasons ago and borderline 22, he is still a few notches ahead of these two in his last season.

Great to see Viney back, finally!!!

We've been a man down with Weid the last few weeks (I still think he presents promise and am hoping this is the rocket he needs to fire up and perform, but also appreciate that there are many who think he has had enough rockets), so Viney and Sparrow both in really adds more pressure against the Bombers, although I think Sparrow has a lot to do to keep his spot in finals.

TMac, Fritter, Kossie and co will need to bring the goods, and take their opportunities.

Viney will add more defensive run, and we'll need it (collectively) given the Bombers are #2 for points scored. Expecting a relatively high scoring game, so we need to take our chances, and be accountable.

Interesting not replacing the tall....I guess we did go 6-0 with the Tmac and Jackson as the only talls and Fritsch the hybrid. Max will play more forward in this setup and Jackson more time in the ruck. Arguably this may be our best setup.

Glad Sparrow has been kept in. Was good against the Lions.

Interesting to see Jordon named in starting 18 on wing. Gus on bench.

Love Jack back in. He just brings intensity. He will crunch a few.  Bombers won't be thrilled to see his name.

You would expect our tackle count to be high this week.

Go Dees

Clearly we’re looking for speed and legs against the Bombers.

They are coming off a six day break so this should allow us to break them open in the second half with Burgess Ball….if we come to play.

Still disappointed Ben Brown doesn’t get a game. Clearly there’s something still not right with him (knee) or you’d play him.

Really need big games from Kozzi, Fritta and TMac on Saturday.

I’d prefer a taller forward set up. Fritsch is too valuable on the flank and is not big enough to be a key forward. It is time to bite the bullet on Brown or are we waiting for him to kick a bag at Casey. At least they are playing this weekend for the first time in a long while. Jackson/Gawn will need to spend more time in the forward half Saturday night.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
