Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I can’t believe you are all getting ahead of yourselves like this !!!!

PS

(In my dream, Max Gawn calls ‘non playing’ Jones up on stage after our 1 point win and says ‘this is for you Captain and puts his own medal around Nathan’s neck a la Footscray GF….. and we all burst in to tears)

Still think Chunk has a part to play, think he’s ahead of Chandler, Melksham on current form & on par with Sparrow

Hopefully gets a couple of games before finals to put his case forward

He is most definitely ahead of Chandler who has done nothing in his limited games.Much more valuable. Young Chandler has a lot of developing to do.

Jones is probably ahead of Sparrow in the best 22 but he and the club would realise that the margin isn't that great and its best to get games into Sparrow leading into the pointy end of the season should injuries occur later

Unfortunately, Jonesy is unable to win a contested possession these days which is a little bizarre given that was his strength for more than a decade. He's purely outside now.

Sparrow is a much better option at the moment. Lacks a bit of polish but has some good traits.

Every member of the team should get a medal, similar to the NBA where everyone gets a ring. I know it seems a bit tokenistic but there does seem to be a real mentality in the NBA that you're still apart of it all even if you're not out there in the end.

I agree, as it takes a whole club/playing list to win a GF, not just the 22 on the field.

Something about his neck fusing / neck muscles permanently clenching that meant that constant batterings were causing disproportionate damage.

There was a beautiful moment in the Gus and Gawny podcast interview with Jones where Brayshaw kind of rhetorically asked Jones about 'doing the team thing and changing your role to a more outside one because injury was limiting what you could do in an inside role'. Just for a moment Brayshaw looked like a kid next to a hero, reveling in pride that there was a connection like that.

Having said that, Jones just killed it for Casey today and that included a fair bit of time attending stoppages and centre clearances. He looked confident and very mobile.

That was the Jones of old on show today. I know it's VFL, but he's still got the talent there and he's still a rung above a lot of our young players. Looking forward to him breaking the Melbourne games record on Grand Final day and coming in as the super sub in the final quarter to kick the matchwinning goal.

Gifting somebody a game in a Grand Final when you haven't won one in 60 years is unbelievably high risk, but I'd be into the idea of him presenting the cup. Bit weird to have a serving player do it but far more relevance to this era than Barassi, Lyon and even Neitz.

Will simply have to do a Bob Murphy with Gawny calling for Jonesy to  go up and hold it with him! Magically  produce a medal and then be in the photo and run around the ground for fans to swoon etc.

I reckon Jones has still got a few games in him.

We need senior hardened men out there as we grind through the July and August months and we can't afford some of our younger players to repeat what they dished up against Collingwood over the coming weeks.

Yes I had a dream last night Chunk kicked the winning flag goal against the cats.

Apparently Chunk’s games as sub count to his total games tally even if he doesn’t take the field.

Would be pretty bloody embarrassing for him to break the club record for most games played with him sitting on the bench in a tracksuit. He’s only 4 off Neita’s record now…

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
