Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I beg to differ, I watched him very closely today and I was super impressed. He ran his AZZZZRSE OF presented well clunked marks, worked hard, praised team mates and generally was very very involved. Unless you want Spargo to be the Go to forward which occured when caught one out last night! ( (No disrespect to Charlie who continues to play well) Then we are CRYING out for someone who will

1 Take no1 Defender

2 Can Mark

3 Can Kick

And who kicked 5 today in very flukey Casey Type conditions!

HE PLAYS NEXT WEEK. I HAVE DECREED IT SO ???

Cannot see any candidate to replace Hibberd next year if needed. May need to trade for that player.

Tomlinson back to his previous/ Petty’s role,

Petty to FB,

May to Hibberd’s role,

Releases May to a more attacking role.

Dreadful first half but I can understand why Casey played the way they did....... lack of matches due to lock downs. B.Brown was o.k without setting the world on fire but he needs to play seniors . Jones was good. Vanders played well in patches. I would like to see Daw and J.Smith play forward with the Weid playing wing/ruck.

Watched a different game to me RPFC.

The big man did his job and did it well.  Stayed mobile, presented well.  Ran hard both ways.  Took some ruck contests and got involved in some decent links of play.  Marked overhead from behind and on the lead (creating space on his tall opponent).  Kicked accurately from distance.  He even hit up the Weid at one point who went back and missed.

One game doesn't a summer make but he's earned a call up for a block of games starting this week.  He looks more match ready (fitter) than his early season fail.

Lucifer knows we need a genuine tall marking target who can hit the scoreboard from anywhere 35 to 50 meters.  Most of our other forwards are serviceable at best but most can't kick beyond 35/40 and even if they do on rare occasions the distance is mostly beyond them which sees them too innacurate.

The question is who comes out?  Fritschkreig must be under some consideration. Tried hard last night but he is a forward and kicked zero goals, 1 tackle and only 6 effective disposals.  Was easily in our bottom 3/4 players last night.

Agree with most of summation Rusty. One change Sparrow for BB

BUT warning to Kossy, Fritsch .. Perform this game or you might find yourself at Casey as Jones and Vanders Super impressive! Bowey not that far of either, Plays like Caleb Daniels and might just be better than him in time to come! Even Melk showed some desire today!!

Melk got better as the game went on PF.  My bug bear with him (mostly at senior level) is that in congestion he too often wants to hand responsibility to others and panic handballs into trouble as first option to avoid the heat.

Seemed to get down and dirtier though improving in this aspect in the 2nd half and his ability to evade and  dangerous kick came into play providing plenty of serviceable ball and connecting i50.   Was in the top 6 for mine today.

Vanders similar.  Started off a little Rusty but came home like a train in the 2nd half.  At this level he is mostly solid.  I just feel the speed of the oppo & game catches him out a little now upstairs but who knows.  He might prove me wrong and force his way in at some stage.

Bowey was ok in patches.  Still a fair bit of work ahead before he is ready for mine.

Thought the 2nd half of Rosman was a beauty and showed some of what we have to look forward to in seasons to come.

Baker was the other who shone on the far side wing for mine.  Aside from one or two poor entries he was in everything and his run off half back was superb.  Delivered the ball quite nicely i50 at times and 2nd efforts were there.

Lockhart had a very nice quarter and a half from about half way through the third.

Bedford had a nice last quarter as well.

Close picket. I prefer the Mignon a tad over medium. Little Giant was fine but I went to the cellar for a preferred choice tonight.

The Maid is being coquettish and wearing Essendon colours.

That is simply not going to happen at all. Neither Jones or Vandenberg could possibly replace Kozzi or Fritsch. We don't have a another player on the list who could replace Kozzi.

Vanders and Bedford are ready to go.

Yes, Vanders was excellent and clearly gives us additional grunt inside as well as another dimension outside. I think as we get closer to the end of the home and away, we may turn to additional experimentation to test best combinations. . Vanders and BB  even Jonesy would have to be close to the top of the list. Also BB today made his case. They will be having close consideration to excluding sparrow, even Kossie in the finals line up. No doubt there will be some experimentation once our top two position is secured. In any case there are sure to be injuries which will require replacements.

wouldn't mind seeing him played a little further down back as "Hibberd insurance".

We know he is okay as "Langdon insurance".

The forward deliveries after some of those long runs was a little disconcerting but that is system footy or should I say ....

question... with GWS and the Sydney lockdowns what's the chances of a VFL game for Casey next week?

Doubt they brought the VFL team down with them. Perhaps the AFL/VFL could be inventive and allow some supp players from somewhere.

Couldn't stand another practice hit out

Perhaps a game against one of the Melbourne non aligned sides assuming they have a bye

A really enjoyable look at our up and comers. Most of the players showed something after a bit of a scrappy tussle in the first half.

There were plenty putting their hands up for a senior call-up - Jones, B Brown, Bowey, AVB and Melksham. Unfortunately, there aren't too many spots up for grabs.

I was really keen to see some of the draftees and I wasn't disappointed. For those that didn't see it:

Bowey - great composed game. He was on top of his opponent(s), skilled and smart with the footy. I hope he gets a game at some stage this year.

Bedford - had an impact in the last quarter after a quiet game. There are nice aspects to his game - speed, endurance and pressure. He seemed to impose himself on the game late and might have had more of an impact if he'd done so earlier.

D Smith - He strikes me as a neat, committed player with plenty of skill and game insight. I look forward to seeing him develop.

Laurie - slick ball use  and an impressive skill level. Got caught once or twice but first game after a long time. I recall him easily spinning out of trouble in his draftee highlights videos. A tougher gig at this level and he may need to work on that.

Lockhart - a mixed game from him. Showed a bit and also let himself down  couple of times.

Chandler - at times he showed he was a class above this level. At other times he seemed to get tangled up in the scrappy stuff. Good pressure.

Rosman - his composure improved as the game went on and there were a couple of impressive plays. He needs some games and experience under his belt. He's got the endurance to get to more contests but that'll come. He looks like he's wearing a rug!

Turner - plenty of composure and intercepting. Didn't make any mistakes and shows promise. A great first game

Bradtke - Curious that he was in the backline. I assume he's learning the defensive side of the game. He didn't do a whole lot wrong (out-bustled once or twice). Good disposal and agility for a beanstalk. Twenty kgs would be very helpful for him.

Declase - Another good first game. He was solid without being spectacular. Disposal was good and he improved as the game went on (following an early bomb into the forward line). Potentially a good role player. Good skill set.

Baker - Had a good game and he got better as the game went on. I think this is his level.

Just a question for anyone at the game today.....

How really fit did BB look today and i mean not equal to the previous stint.  But equal to other KEY forwards in AFL now?

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.
