Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Consistently stuck marks all day.

Keen to see what those Weed “his just a boy” apologists have to say now.

Weid should learn how to attack the ball in the air like that skinny tomato stake.

Some crucial games next week.

Lions at home to Geelong

Eagles at home to the Dogs

Should be regulation wins for Tigers over Saints and Port over Sydney.

Have to tip Lions and Eagles at home, that would be massive for us.

Bombers made to look average by a poor Hawks side. Just got over the line thanks to an unbelievable game from Stringer

if we are switched on, they shouldn’t cause us problems

I don’t rate the Bombers as much as some on here do, the key to this game is our mindset. Even our wins against Freo, Giants, Hawks, North and Carlton were made to be much harder than they should of been. Bring in Ben Brown and bring our mindset from the opening bounce of the dogs game and the 2ns half against the lions and we’ll romp it in. Sick of watching these scraps against weaker sides.

IT IS A SERIOUS CONCERN THAT WE ARE AIMING FOR A PREMIERSHIP AND STILL NEED TO SWITCH ON AGAINST LOWLY SIDES

They are in a purple patch of form at the moment. They have an air of confidence about them. I don’t rate them either, but right now they are a top 8 team. They beat West Coast recently in Perth. We need to be switched on for the whole game this week, otherwise they will win easily. In fact, I reckon they should start favorites.

Today I witnessed how far the current AFL machine (Admin, Umpires & Media) have drifted from the history and fabric of the game.

This was a game where I was a 'neutral'... I picked the Bombers, but, for selfish reasons, I wanted the Hawks to get up. I found myself cursing and hostile over a game in which my beloved Demons were not involved.

Today, Jake Stringer was allowed to get away with the most blatant throw I have ever witnessed. Three umpires saw it and rubber stamped it as fair play. It was a one hand sling that doesn't belong in this great game.

The commentary team were seemingly paralyzed, and hardly spent a sentence to question this travesty!

I know there are many debatable disposals in every game, and we should expect a few to go without penalty... but this was so openly blatant that I think it epitomizes the illness that has invaded our code.

The call from above to keep the game moving, the blatant greed of the broadcasters to get goals so they can advertise, the glazed eyes of our adjudicators, who no longer understand or have a feel for the spirit of the game... all of these agents of erosion have joined forces with the result that the great game is corrupted!

The deliberate out of bounds rule is driving me mad this year too.

As Sue said, it's a corrupt competition. Not in the sense of brown paper bags under tables, but in the sense of being degraded and rotten. It seems on every single issue -- sacrosanct heads, MRP, fixtures, away jumpers, umpiring, the draft -- the AFL are incapable of being consistent and holding a line. Or even knowing if they have a line at all.

Maybe some high profile Sydney player  could advise them on having a line?

Not sure I agree with those lauding Essendon's game today.

They were the inferior side for significant portions of that game and had Hawthorn kicked straight at key moments, and/or had something better to aim for than Koschitzke, a resting ruck and Tim O'Brien, they would have won that game.

Essendon was -24 in disposals, -3 inside 50s, -46 in uncontested possessions, +7 in turnovers, -22 in marks, -4 in marks inside 50, -2 in scoring shots and -16 in tackles.

To me, they were outworked by Hawthorn but Hawthorn is a weak side and didn't make it pay. To be behind in disposals (and significantly so in UPs) and marks, and to still lose the tackles, that's not good or sustainable football.

In some ways I’m quite happy with Essendon winning this week. There should be no way in hell that our players take them lightly like they did against the pies.

We’re still waiting for the players to put it all together for a 4 quarter effort, I hope they’re angry after the WB loss and bring it against the Dons.

The frustration is understandable, the losses to Adelaide and Collingwood were both avoidable. But realistically if we haven’t improved we don’t beat the Dogs or Lions and don’t find ourselves 11 & 2 at the bye.

Im tipping Lions to beat the Cats and the Eagles to beat Dogs, if that happens and we roll the Bombers we will have our two game lead back against second and third. This is critical as we have away games against Port, Eagles and Geelong in the run home.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
