Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Viney in for Sparrow. Easy decision.

Weid out for ???
Either B Brown if we keep the same forward structure or Melksham if we go the more mobile forward line from earlier in the season. Interesting to see what the coaches come up with here, as the three talls isn’t working for us. Will they persist?

IN Viney, ??

OUT Weideman, Sparrow

There's a good chance of some rain - we could just go Viney for Weid.

We definitely could go smaller in the forward line if Weideman goes out. But we should go more like for like IMO i.e. more of a forward like Melksham or Chandler.

My thinking is that we have been playing with fewer numbers around the ball at stoppages this year, so we don't need as many midfielders. If the opposition push up a forward at the the stoppages, we are happy to leave Salem or Lever as loose defenders, so even if we lose the clearances we have structure behind the ball to win it back. If we are even numbered at the stoppages, we rely on Gawn, Oliver, Petracca, Viney, Harmes and Jordon to dominate the clearances.

I think Sparrow is a midfielder only at this stage. He lacks forward craft and so he is the most obvious out for Viney.

I'm a believer that players lift for games against their old clubs. perhaps there is a point to prove.

Maybe that means in M Brown and Melksham plus Viney.

Read a report that Majak Daw is a chance for selection this week. Interesting.

What’s he been playing mainly at VFL? Ruck/forward? Surely we’re covered in that department.

If the game is going to be wet, Melksham for Weid could well come into play. He hasn’t done much in the games he’s played but at least he doesn’t waste it when he gets the ball in hand.

I wouldnt be upset to have Daw play. He is a unit. It would be like our own Mumford. Just tell him to jump into the other ruckman and punch the ball into our 50. Or when forward, his leads are straight lines and you wouldnt want to block him whether he took them or not. If it didnt work it would still be entertaining.

I guess he brings flexibility, allowing Max and Jackson to spend more time forward and being able to cover Petty down back if he has another mare.

Mitch Brown has played at 3 clubs, 1 less than Martin Pike who played at 4 clubs and won 4 flags.

Your point was?

Having Max bring his contested marking to the goal square instead of the wing, with Jackson and Daw rucking would be an upgrade on out current tall forward set up…

I’m sure I’m on my own here but I’d give Viney a week at Casey given he hasn’t played for 9 weeks with a fair component of that off legs. I reckon Sparrow has done enough over the last 5-6 weeks that he gets another go.

I’d give BBB a go for Weids also.

I said exactly this to a couple of mates and on fb and got laughed at...    Max clunking marks as a deep FF, as well as rucking in the Fwd line gives his body a rest compared to the usual kms he does.  Jackson appears in better form at centre bounces than Max.  ie. we seem to win more centre clearances with LJ in the ruck at the moment.  Bring Majak in as a 2nd ruck to use when Jacko needs a break...  He's had basically 4-5 BOG's in the 2's in the ruck...

There's certainly worse options to go with than this...

Max is hard to beat but his shots on goal need to be improved. Then it works very well.

With Max dropping more marks lately and a possible wet night, not sure that is correct.

I think it has to be

Weid - Out / Jack In

I would start Jack up forward, get him to terrorise their backs, get him to upset Hind, make them look around. Ease him back into the side.

Also must tag Parish, Harmes to run with him and hurt him the other way, no teams has really tried, that's why he keeps getting touches, he is a really good clearance and follow up next possession player, lets blanket him.

Get Trac h2h with Merrett, i know who will be more damaging.

We kick the ball to the pockets deliberately.

Its the highest percentage of locking the ball into our forward line and being able to reset the defence to keep it there.

A couple of reporters tried to get Goody to answer on Weid and B Brown this week during this morning’s media conference. Did not give much away, not that we should expect much much from pressers, but Goody did mention Brown is still building his game and looking better and better all the time.
Is that enough to be included for Saturday night on the back of a 5-6 week mini preseason and no competitive matches for over a month?

Weid might be omitted, not sure if it’s for Brown.

Going off that, I don't think Brown plays.

Goodwin is not noted for making ruthless abrupt changes if he can help it. Tends to resist external pressure from media and fans to team changes as well.

Well if Weed does play that could be the biggest call Goody has made in his coachimg tenure. If he does and we win and he contributes ok if he plays and either we loose or he does sweet F.A or both not only will this site explode it could really stuff momemtum disastrously, and compromise us badly

BB for mine

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
