Interesting that Worpel  for the Hawks got a week for what looked a fairly insipid so called sling tackle. Looking at yesterday’s match there were 2 or 3 sling tackles that could be deemed similar or worse!  Crickets from the MRP.

We allowed them to transition the ball through the corridor far too easily, some our defenders were too high on such a small ground (see Salem) and we played hero footy, not team first (see Oliver, Petracca and Kozzy).

The first choice Richmond mids have our guys covered easily. Dusty alone does, but Cotchin, Prestia, Edwards might not be perfect but they can find targets. 

The intensity and work rate was a long way down but Goodwin mentioned skill execution for a reason, because when you keep giving up easy intercepts against an organised defence you start panicking in to bad choices rather than sticking to the plan.

We knew Collingwood are highly organised and drilled, the aim had to be to move them around more than just ram in to a wall.

But then we really need to study the tempo footy of Geelong and West Coast and the way Richmond use short kicks from their backline before getting a favourable match up for more attacking run or longer kicks. We can't rely on the long bomb to Gawn every single time.

I hope the FD and coaches study the tapes and make a review.   There must be some learnings   there  unlike the last game 2018.

I didn't enjoy watching the match at all.

Sadly, the refreshments during the match - Petaluma chardonnay + salmon quiche (avec salad) - helped only slightly. But I was so [censored] off that I didn't even bother with the tea cake.

Dusty is no better than Petracca and only just has Brayshaw covered. The guy dribbles them off his boot semi frequently. A great player, with a penetrative kick, but very hit and miss.

As for Cotchin and Prestia, I think we're watching different games. They're okay over 30m, but that's about it. Cotchin was known for his dinky nothing kicks for years.

Edwards goes okay, but he's not elite.

They’ve responded to challenges and adversity very well all year so I expected a response on Monday. It wasn’t to be but the team have plenty of credits in the bank. I’m going to put it down to tiredness and move on. I expect a refreshed Dees to resume normal service against the Bombers after the bye.

Watched parts of the replay of pies game.

My goodness we were poor. I dont think we could have played worse. Our forwards were shocking and our touted mids were not far behind.

Anyone watching that would scratch their heads wondering how we were on top of thed ladder.

I would love to know why we have many slow starts? I appreciate our level of fitness and the games where we have come from behind but we are not making things easy.

Langdon missing the prior game upset his performance. Sparrow is still not ready and our forward line despite delivery was a rabble.

Despite what the club says , I think it was a clear case of being over confident and it showed.

Almost any club in the comp can roll another if a team doesnt give their all.

Sadly the arrogance was  Dees of old.

Its not to say they havent changed. Some things take time. They will learn and not do it again.

But in seriousness, I do think the club was complacent going in to that game.

Anyway if you dont like the word or the emotion it invokes then Im happy to say they were at least complacent.....relaxed or proud. But maybe check yours.

Either way we are a much better team and let them beat us. It was not fatigue....monday game....wasnt injuries.

We played our worst game for the year.

Lots of teams do it.... the issue is if we learn from it. Thats humility and maturity.
