Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This game should’ve been played at the MCG irrespective of fans or no fans.

We’re playing for sheep stations at the moment and playing a game at a venue that a) clearly didn’t suit us and b) where we won’t playing in September did nobody any favours.

As I said during the week, we need to play as many games at the G to prefect our game plan and therefore the out of town home games need to finish, while the VIC government allows us to still play at the MCG.

As painful as the loss is, your position on this issue is both annoyingly repetitive and unrealistic.

It's bad luck in the extreme that we're the only club to have had two home games which have had to be moved out of Victoria. It's even worse luck that they happened to be two of our three biggest profit-making games for the year (the third being ANZAC Eve).

We're 11-2 in no small part due to the contributions of our assistant coaches, fitness staff, development staff, etc. If we don't recoup some of the $1M+ we are going to lose from missing out on the two games, we're not going to make it where we want to go.

It's entirely understandable that they looked to move the game somewhere where, through ticket sales, we could recoup some money.

And just to rub it in that little bit more, my membership card just arrived.

Even more annoying in that I’ve been trying to order the indigenous guernsey and keep getting told they aren’t delivering to Japan. ?

This is as dejecting as the round 23 loss against em and the lost to Port after Jimmy had passed

That’s a massive over reaction. We lost a game, but it won’t cost us finals. They always play well against us, and aside from last year have beaten us consistently for 5 years. They had everything to play for today, and we just looked tired and flat.

Lets not throw the baby out with the bath water. It’s ok to be disappointed, but let’s not fall apart.

That was insipid.

lost the middle, no two way run, poor defensive efforts, players trying to do too much.

max Trac and Oliver all below par.

worse than Adelaide game.

no answers to pressure, no overlap, expecting others to do the work.

weids - who?  A good ff would demand the ball from the square. Brown has to come back in.

im shattered.  That was not 2021 demons.

Was at the game and everything I’m thinking has already been discussed here.

Was watching Weid off the ball and he is not up to it. Barely troubled the Pies defenders. He is unfortunately one of those players that dominate the VFL but can’t perform at the top level.

 Bring Ben in.

What did they have to play for today? A bloke that's not going to be there next week? I'm not throwing the baby out with the bath water but let's call it for what it is. A [censored] loss!

Extremely disappointing performance, and a lot of us could see it coming. There was not one point in the game where I thought we'd win it. Most of the moments were hoping Collingwood could keep missing so we might stumble over the line in the end, total loser mentality as a fan really.

Big stage, top of the ladder team, spotlight on us, Big Freeze but no we didn't come to play did we? The season has seen us play some games completely out of our skin and maybe slightly above what our talent suggests but today as much as it hurts this is a great leveller and remainder that we are not a premiership contender yet.

I can't wait for the freedom fighters to come in and tell us off for being negative and that "We're 11 and 2 you're acting like someone died". Yes we are 11-2 and it's a great achievement, but there's no rule against discussing negatives.

Beaten at our own game today. Blocked off the defensive exits, ran bloody hard for 110 uncontested marks. +30 odd differential in the uncontested possessions. The stats get worse the more you look at them. 18 marks inside 50 for the Pies? Seriously when has that happened against us this year? And where is our 'no fly zone' backline? Petty was not on, meant that we had to have Lever play man on man which he stinks at quite frankly. We could never move the ball beyond half back either.

Time in forward half 82% for the Pies. Game over. You literally couldn't have better stats if you wanted to beat us right now.

So where to from here? Yes 11-2 is a bloody good launching pad for the second half and no-one is saying the sky is falling in but have we peaked early? As cruel as it sounds the first half of the season doesn't count for much come the end and there's been a ton of teams fall away. Be the front runner then keep fronting up. There comes a time where this isn't just about some nice wins to start the year and whatever happens happens. No, we have to treat every game now like a danger game. As far as losses that need to be had, save that bs for later in the season.

I'm trying my best to mellow out, I know nothing is as bad or good as it seems. So I'm sorry if this is a bit much.

Honestly I was going to go through the players but Individualising stuff isn't going to help. It took a team effort of sub par performances today. Salem, Jordan, Trac and maybe Gawn can hold their heads up. Other than that we looked drunk. The number of times there were 50-50 balls there to be won and I thought we'd easily get it but some poor skill error sent it back the other way....

It might have been in Sydney but Clayton Oliver really brought the Hollywood touch with two moments deciding to hang onto the ball and kill any momentum were were getting. Trent Rivers normally such a reliable kick had those 2 doozeys early. Weideman man seriously this guy could not catch a cold right now. I'd like to know how many holding the balls we were pinged for today, the classic case of a team playing flat is the lack of awareness and urgency. And the icing on the cake was when a goal would have brought us back in touch and Kozzie gets it about to show some of that magic and runs too far. That was the moment.

A very happy birthday, really just needed to get the W over the filth in what had otherwise been a good weekend. I know we're gonna drop games but I would have done anything to avoid it being this one. Instead I gotta go into the office and become the spokesperson for what went wrong, which isnt terrible if youve only done it twice this year but I dont want to. Gotta wear it.

They are a bottom 4 side and we are trying to finish top 2 and win a flag. How did they have more to play for than us?

Weid was really poor I’ve seen him two weeks in a row and OMG he is so easy to defend

now that I think about it if the 8 quarters I’ve seen I think we have played like spuds for 5 maybe 6 of them - I will stay away for a everyone’s benefit

On a positive I'd rather lose to bottom 4 sides than top 4 contenders. Wins against the top sides effectively become 8 point matches when competing for a home final.

I think  a loss to a bottom 4 team means our head was in the wrong place.

A loss to a top 4 team means they might be better than us.

While i'd choose to never lose at all, losing to Collingwood and Adelaide but beating WB, Brisbane, Geel and Rich is way better than the other way around.

I couldn’t, even if I tried. What I have for the Dees is what can only be called ‘blind adoration.’
But enough about that. You didn’t answer my question: why are you always so grumpy?

I'm not grumpy, I just dislike the posters that keep potting the club and players and there are plenty of them on here.

Ok, take a poll of DL posters who agree or not, then have another crack. Tell me Mr Webber, where do YOU think Weideman’s future lies? Based on his contribution to date. Collingwoods key forwards kicked 7 goals today, Weid did not get a kick!

Yeah, not sure if you’re not getting the point deliberately, or just don’t get it. I have no doubt Weideman will be dropped, or that his form means he deserves to be. I dare say he’d agree. The point is that you’ve personally judged him as being a failure in his chosen career. If you met him, would you say that to his face? I sincerely hope the answer is no. If it isn’t, well…..

The team now has to get serious. Weideman, Petty , Brayshaw straight out. Sparrow needs more time as well but has some ability. The club needs more physicality tonight, Viney will be huge, need BBB leading forward and maybe Vanders to bring that extra muscle. We folded tonight.

Disappointing loss for sure but it's not like there are glaring deficiencies in the team. We were not switched on today but we have 2 weeks until the next game to sort out our mindset. Some honest conversations with Goody, Chocco and the leaders of the team will right the ship. Get back to the basics. Team first, selfless approach

I predict an attitude adjustment and a 5 goal win against the bombers

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
