Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Rather target someone who is tough and can kick goals

Our back six is not our weakness IMO

I do rate Maynard though

We lack serious depth in the small defender department. Hibbo is 32. Salem is elite. Hunt is meh. Jetta is finished.
If we lose one of Hibbo or Salem to injury we are in trouble.
Maynard can defend and attack. It’s a good combination and his age profile fits perfectly into our list. I would definitely pursue him. He’d be second on my list to Merrett.

In the form he's in I'm sure there isn't anyone here trying cancel Hibbo, but at his age, that cliff can come quickly (think Nev) and I think it would be better to bring in quality replacement options before we have a hole in the armor.

If we get him and Hibbo's still going strong, then perhaps that provides an oppertunity to play someone like Rivers or Salem further up the ground?

If Hibbo is going strong Maynard can replace Hunt and make us instantly better. I also believe Rivers should end up on the wing eventually.

With you Jaded. On Monday's form I'd take him in a heart beat. He is strong and tough which a few of our forwards found out and didn't want to go near him. Also his disposal is OK

I tell you what, I'd have preferred Maynard played FOR us and not against on Monday. Played a super game.

Not sure if we could/should pay the required $$$ for him, but the age/skill profile (with some disposal improvement) fits nicely.

Solid replacement for Hibbo, but would be interesting if he stays.

Not happening, according to his manager

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/department-of-trade/afl-trade-news-rumours-whispers-2021-adam-cerra-carlton-jack-billings-contract-free-agents-list/news-story/b58b3cc71f708f27139167e87e9754c6

MAYNARD CLAIM CATEGORICALLY DENIED

Brayden Maynard’s management has categorically denied there is any truth to AFL great Brad Hardie’s claims the gun defender will request a trade out of Collingwood at year’s end.

Hardie made the sensational claim on 6PR radio this week that Maynard “will be playing for the Melbourne Football Club next year” despite the 24-year-old being contracted to Collingwood until the end of 2022.

Maynard’s manager, Tom Petroro of TLA, told foxfooty.com.au there was categorically no truth to Hardie’s comments.

Coming off a career-best season in 2020, Maynard is once again proving a vital part of Collingwood’s back six and played a decisive role in the side’s upset win over Melbourne on Monday.

He’s set to become an even more significant part of the side’s defensive setup with news teammate Darcy Moore will likely miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

Lying is the second language of the AFL and player managers lie and talk as much spin as politicians. Lots of players change clubs at the end of every year with speculation about most of them half way through the year and it’s very rare a player manager ever says anything other than there fully committed to the club. Hope the club is into him big time.

What is his manager supposed to say while he is contracted? i wouldnt read anything into it. If Maynard wants out there are two things we need to sort out:

1. Draft picks and/or player trade. They will want a first rounder for sure, but he is not worth that so i would go Future 2nd rounder and possibly throw in Weideman for good measure.

2. Salary Cap. If we rid ourselves of Weid and Jones retires that maybe enough to scrap 500-600K/year. We may need to think about retiring Jetts as well, but i like the fact of him staying around to mentor the young indigenous players - Jetts seems to be a stand out guy that would inspire some of the younger players, which is great culture building that you cannot buy. The other factor is that the Pies are a long way off from playing in finals whilst we are in prime position to contend.

I wasn’t all that interested in Maynard until Mondays game but he Pendleton and De Basher were the difference between us and them. Doubt that we can get him but I wouldn’t be against bringing him in.!!!!!

Saw he's put contract talk on hold till they name a coach

Reckon he'd be worth having a crack at not a bad kick got some hardness about him and would die trying to win a flag

Has some brain fades but some on the list have the same tendency

Should get his brother to nudge him to our door

He hasn't put contract talks on hold.

Hes still contracted until the end of 2022. Such a click bait article..

He would be a great addition to our program, would not say no at all to this proposal.

Must be some truth to it if Brad Hardie has been rattling off all these other developments at the Pies.

Doesn't his old man play a role down at the Scorpions?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
