Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Nathan Buckley Steps Down as Collingwood Coach

You can just imagine the list management conversation that lead to this.  Wright basically will be staying the list is stuffed, we have massive salary cap issues we need to off load players to start a 3-4 year rebuild.

Bucks saying  I'm not hanging around to see more senior players off loaded and sitting in the bottom 4 for the next few years.

Ross Lyon isn't the man for the job, they need a massive rebuild.  Ross is better suited at Carlton that have enough good young players that need a senior coach to take them to the next level.

Selfish damn pies.  Now they will suck all the oxygen out of the lead up and on the day for Neale.  Obviously did not give this week a second thought.  All we will hear about is Buckley when it should be about Neales cause.

I can see a Machiavellian type of move here.

Filth: "Let's offer Sam Mitchell the gig"; he goes to Hawthorn "Gee boys, I've had the triffic offer from the filth" .Panic stations at Glenferrie/Waverley. "Alistair, the filth are trying to poach the golden boy. Thanks for the good years but we're going to have to let you go (at the end of the year)" Alistair feigning surprise wins every game left (except ours).

In the meantime, Jeffrey unaware of this dastardly and cunning move has isolated Clarkson with the Filth only to sweep in with a fabulous offer to coach a disintegrating club. Clarkson walks out the Crown door after an uneventful B&F to the sounds OF Virtue - Thanks for Nothing?

The only proviso is I'm not sure anyone at Collingwood would understand a Machiavellian move.

My word from semi inside Hawks is that they are resigned to the fact that Clarko is iff to the Filth next season.

"resigned to the fact" or "pleased with the fact"?

If I were Hawthorn, I could see Clarkson leaving as a positive as it allows a refresh with Sam Mitchell in charge. In fact, it would be a win-win-win-win (Collingwood-Hawthorn-Clarkson-Mitchell)

Let's square the ledger by having all next week's talk being about how badly Nathan was let down by the players in his last match.

Really unsure how they'll view their options regarding a potential replacement, if Clarko is receptive obviously he flies to the top of the list, but the Hawks may not be willing to let him go, not sure if they 100% believe Sam Mitchell is ready this soon for a senior role. potentially needs another year

Most assistant coaches have a clause in their contracts to the effect that they can leave if they secure a senior coaching position elsewehere. I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case with Mitchell.

My hatred of the filth just went up a degree that I did not think was possible. I supppose we just match them till half time and by then they should be ready to be blown off the park. Better luck Buckley. You will be better off getting out from that slimehole.

Clarko can go there for 2-3 years, earn 1.5M per year and then ease off into retirement

Not sure Clarko would want to leave the Hawks in such a bad state though.  He has been in denial about their list for years now, keeps trading in average players rather than going to the draft.  They have very few young kids coming through

Such a pity this won’t be at the G. The Pies would have paid their respects to bucks.

It may have been Buck's decision made under the uncertainty veil of the Covid calamity DD.  Not knowing exactly when there might be a home game exactly and just wanting a clean fast break seeing the writing on the wall?

Also if they are looking to sign up a new suitor or about to and get in before someone else does then the board might have felt they had to move sooner rather than  later.

Having said that (and not knowing the mechanations behind the scenes), assuming they aren't in a rush to sign someone else up, the fact they haven't given one of the greats and a long term coach of the club a send off match would seem to be pretty poor form from an uninformed outsiders view.

It's not like they're going places in the next month or two, even with a new Coach.

Pies players with a full week to sit and think about it.

Real possibility that a few veterans will be thinking 'Will it be me next?', and a few stars will be thinking 'Is this my fault for demanding so much money?', and a few young guns will be thinking 'Do I really want to be here with all this chaos?', and a few key players will be thinking, "How will this affect the character reference he gave the court?"

It wouldn't take much for the players to be thinking about a lot of things other than their opponents by Monday.

Switching my '186' tracker on.

Of course, they might also weather the initial shock and have time to bounce back emotionally and set themselves for maximum effort. But even then, it won't be maximum effort with maximum organisation, so I'd expect the Pies to still only manage a respectable loss.

“The pressure clearly has been on Nathan Buckley and the team. I sit here tonight quite confident that he‘ll be coaching Collingwood in 2022,“ McClure said on Channel 9’s Footy Classified.

Good get, Sam McLure.

Correct, for a direct promotion, it's why if an assistant was hired for a succession plan it'd require the teams permission for them to go.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
