Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Nathan Buckley Steps Down as Collingwood Coach

He had his shot and a little bit of luck would have made him a revered premiership coach but same applied for Ross Lyon. Largesse disappeared quickly for failure to back up on strong finals campaigns and once sugar daddy left it was game over.

I'm more worried about Collingwood playing out of their skins for Buckley's last game.

You’re assuming that he has the players in his corner… they certainly haven’t been playing like they’re with him.

I love the media frenzy now, all trying to be relevant.

Ryan & Niall beat them to the punch, got the scoop...well done to them.

Stevo a long way back treading in quicksand...waiting for Browne and the rest to pile on.

Regardless of if the players play for him on Monday they are all auditioning for the new coach from now till they are appointed. Fully expect the pies to come out firing on Monday in a way we haven’t seen this year

I heard this news this morning when listening to SEN whilst driving back from Geelong to Drysdale and I had a chuckle to myself at the thought of some Demonland posters going into a frenzied panic attack at the thought of Collingwood all of a sudden becoming a super team on Monday and beating the Demons. If Melbourne were to lose, it would only be because they forget about the way they have played for the first 12 weeks and apply no pressure and change their game style.

Collingwood will be more dangerous on Monday because of this

Nah, I wouldn't sweat it.

 They wont be.

The emotion of playing for someone might be at the start of the game for around 30-45 seconds... the adrenal response. And then...normal. service. resumes.

You see it all the time in the first few minutes of Grand Finals... the stress response, scrappy football etc etc...

Player's cannot keep telling themselves throughout a match 'I've got to do it for Buckley, I've got to do it for Buckley', its exhausting and useless as you're not on task.

If we lose, its ostensibly because we lost it due to a lack of pressure or adherence to structure.

If we lose, we lose on our terms, not because Collingwood have won.

Can you imagine if we lost Yze during the year?

Perhaps we should be more worried if Troy Chaplin stepped down based on what Gawn, Brayshaw and TMac said to the press after the Brisbane game? He is credited over the last 4 years as having banged on about defence as the ball moves from our forward to defense areas. That pressure contributes significantly to our interceptions in defence as the ball comes in under pressure without good direction. Players have said basically that they are finally "getting" what Chaplin has been saying. See 2:44 below and the question from Lloyd referencing Troy...

Amazing how negative thoughts suddenly start emerging over Buckley’s resignation, something mooted for months.

Neuroticism still runs deep in the veins of many Dees supporters.

Losing Yze, losing on QB, etc etc.

Even if we win the flag, folks will say that we will fall off the cliff in 2022. Or that winning brings defeat that much closer.

Danny from Droop St morphs into Roger from Demonland.

I'll throw a spanner..

If we lost Yze to a senior gig, would you take Buckley as a midfield coach?

YZE is a key strategic resource. That loss would be far greater than midfield advice and direction.

Buckley can clearly coach and should probably be a premiership coach already. But he's in an absolute basket case of a club at the moment with upheaval at every level of the club since the exit of Eddie.

It reminds me of The Death of Stalin.

I feel sorry for Buckley. He seems like a decent guy and he's a good coach, but the club he's part of is a complete dumpster fire.

Supporters need to relax.

This will be massively draining on Collingwood players during the week. There will be many thinking about their future given the events that have transpired at Collingwood since last year's trade period. The club is a shambles atm with everything they've faced.

If anything, this gives Goody and co another reason to G our guys up and prepare them for a hot first quarter. Clearly Collingwood will throw everything at as in the first quarter and if we can match their intensity (assuming it'll be there), then we will roll them after that.

Collingwood have bullied us on many occasions, we're the oldest rivals in the game.

It's time to give it to them.

Great post JG.

Our side will simply kick into gear  and Max will have them do what they have been doing for 3 months.  The Pies mindset, if its platying out of their skin for Bucks, will simply be an indictment on them and the football dept at the Pies.

My Collingwood supporting brother will be [censored]-a-hoop about this. Though from the way he speaks, there is a huge and vocal plurality of Pies fans who think Eddie and Bucks walk on water, and will be incensed at this.

I'd say this will be another wrinkle in the storyline about the board challenge. Mark this down as something the Browne ticket will use in their board challenge: the treatment of favorite sons despite checkered CV's.

If any scene from that movie is analogous to Collingwood, it would be this one.?

Can't see Clarko getting an offer, he has coached the Hawks into 2nd last.

And I would be very surprised if Ross Lyons message hasn't passed its use by date....

Personally, I don’t like the whole “Let’s do it for (insert name)” as it puts undue extra pressure on the players. When Jimmy Stynes passed away all you’d hear is Let’s do it for Stynesie! The next game we played, we lost. I can’t imagine how much worse this made the players feel. ?

I agree with this.

Korda needed something to differentiate his board from the Eddie board. This is them cutting the cord from the Eddie days in the eyes of supporters.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
