Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A few of us discussing the turnaround on Friday night and trying to remember a better one by MFC.

have a look at R8 of 2017 v Adelaide at Adelaide. 28 points down half way through Q2 , then we kicked the next 9 goals  against the top team who lead the comp all year before losing in GF. Ended up winning easily. Goodwin moved Tom McD forward for the first time ever I think and he kicked goals. But the unexpected spark came from Tomas Bugg! And Pedersen rucked most of the night with some help from Jack Watts . And a gorgeous part of the video is a v loud ho ho ho from a Dees supporter whenever we goaled .

My favourite is the 2000 Qualifying Final. Five goals down late in the third quarter, hit the lead late, lose the lead, then get it back and go on to win (relatively) comfortably against a side that beat us by 98 points a few weeks earlier.

As a young fella (back then) I remember rushing home so my family could sit in front of the tv and watch the replay

Best double comeback.

Last round 1987 we had to beat the Bulldogs at the Western Oval and Hawthorn to beat Geelong at the cattery to make our first finals series for 23 years. Chances were very slim. We did it after being 4 goals down in the third quarter and the Hawks obliged by beating the Cats by 3 points to kick them out of the finals series. The Hawks trailed by 3 goals at 3/4 time and were 5+ goals down at stages but kicked 8 in the last.

The 2006 elimination final is one of my favourite comebacks.
St Kilda got out to a 27 point lead in the second quarter after Fraser Gherig kicked 3 goals in 4 minutes and then this happened...

All pumped up on adrenaline he thought he could run around NC and rolled his ankle, from then we fought back to be 9 points down at 3/4 time then kicked the last 5 goals of the game.

There was a St Kilda family of 5 sitting a couple rows in front of us at the MCG. Every time St Kilda kicked a goal they cheered "Goals, Goals, Goals, WHOOOO" with hand actions and everything.

When we hit the front I couldn't help myself and yelled goals goals goals whoo as we kicked on to win the game. I'll never forget the absolute joy I had at the final siren. Did not know or think that it would be the last final I would attend until 2018

God I hate Essendon so much.
Thoroughly enjoyed watching that, though. Thank you for posting it, Dr. G!

It actually got to 49-88 in the 3rd term!

A Melbourne home game, sold to the 2001-premier opposition - that worked well for once!?

That Johnstone goal - the very difficult made to look very easy.

Chris Fagan in our coaches box.

"A player of the future, Chris Lamb". Always be wary of that label...

"The new David Schwartz, Paul Wheatley". Ditto-ish...

Neale Daniher...

And, yes, a very nice COVID-permitted activity!?

I enjoyed this one:

After being one of the top teams part way through 2005, we lost 7 in a row to be out of the 8 with 3 rounds remaining. After a thrilling 1 point win over the Cats in Geelong we played the white hot Bulldogs on a Saturday Night who were also pushing for a spot in the 8.

With a host of our regulars out we were trailing pretty much the whole match and were 22 down with less then 7 minutes remaining.  However a late flurry and a Jeff White free kick and goal from 50 meters from a tough angle saw us claw out a 4 point victory and keep our finals chances alive.  Which we secured the following week against the Bombers.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
