Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Agree but most of their other payers aren't. I was at Metricon last year us V Lions and all they did was bump, push, scrag Gawn off the ball all game. Umpires did nothing so no doubt they will do same and we can only hope the Umpires do something this time.

Apparently we complain to the AFL every week about this and they do nothing.

This is what a lions supporter posted on Lions big footy page on Sunday.

Comments:

1. Unoriginal and unfair commentary on MFC supporter habits - only team to have 2 finals in history with 90,000 plus crowd (2018). I'll leave the female's description alone, but would be at home in FNQ for sure this Lion supporter

2. Petty is 197 cm, and Tomlinson 194 cm. Don't let research get in the way of an opinion I guess.

3. Has Tmac disappeared?

Some valid comments overall sprinkled with opinion based of nothing at all.

Langdon was quiet last week and we won?

He was quiet because the Dogs made a point of using the Brayshaw wing, to try and exploit us, which didn't work because Gus played such a good game.

Good teams now specifically try to not play down the Langdon wing, but with him out of the game, we are much more vulnerable to the ball coming out of our forwardline quickly and the Lions having multiple avenues to get the ball into their attacking 50.

Just try it......

“I want to see Daniher put a knee into the back of Gawn when Gawn decides to drop back in the hole in our forward 50. We can't let him drift back and take marks untouched, we at least need to make him earn it and expect there to be heavy contact coming.”

Last year the Lions went in with a clear plan to belt Max around the head, jumped into him in marking contests and block him off the footy. Was bloody infuriating to watch. Hopefully we learnt from that and are ready to protect Max this week as he has copped it particularly since the Tigers game.

The ability of our wingers to defend and cover the ground, in particular Langdon, is what sets us up and will defeat any and every team this year provided we bring the work rate across the rest of the ground. Minus Langdon it will be very interesting to see how our defensive shape goes.

As for Brisbane, they're a good team, but they haven't exactly been tested yet. Their two best wins against Richmond and Port were both at home. Sure, no Neale, their best player, but their forwards are very hit and miss. Daniher usually gets a heap of it against us and shanks many. Hipwood is hot and cold. Cameron is the match winner down there. Whereas, this year we've tended to have a more even contribution across the ground.

I think we'll drop this one, but we'll win if we bring the same intensity as last week. Can we bring that level and focus two weeks in a row?

The self-proclaimed Barometer (previously known as Beast Mode) - laughable. Full of bluster. His best work is limited to staging for frees.

Yep I’m really hoping the team has learned from the game. Despite being roughed up Max almost always got good purchase on the taps but the smashed us at bounces and stoppages. I really think we have to at least break even with that.

I sometimes forget the Mitch Robinson at the Lions is the same guy who called us bruise free. I would love for one of the boys to tackle him hard enough (but legally) that has him slow getting up.

Bricks. Old yellow bricks, crumbling with age in a garden-wall; the sweet breath of young cows standing in a mountain-stream; the lead roof of a dove-cote — or perhaps a granary — with the mid-day sun on it; black kid gloves lying in a bureau-drawer of walnut-wood; a dusty road with a horses’ drinking-trough beneath the sycamores; little mushrooms bursting through the rotting leaves; and — and — and — not parsnips.

Aren't these lyrics from a Sound of Music song ??

I have to admit... I havent gotten the hit I usually receive when opening these threads so have gone looking myself. There really isnt too much to add so far though... The Lions supporters all seem pretty level headed and just post about their own team.

Here's the only other one I found worth posting.

Really looking forward to this game, hopefully a good spectacle for the game itself. On paper we seem to matchup really well against each other.

I’d give the Dees the edge in the Midfield with their star power of Gawn, Oliver and Petrecca. However we’re not lacking with McCluggage continued development this year, Lyons getting more appreciation in Neales absence, and Zorko finding his great form of years past. Hopefully our rotational midfielders help close that gap. Im not overly concerned as I think this group will have enough impact to at-least give us a chance at winning.

On the defensive side of things, as mentioned Fritsch has done the majority of the damage for them, Starce has to get the job. He’s crafty at drawing free kicks and generally making the most of his opportunities. McDonalds lead up style can give Harris troubles, I think Adam’s is the best match up there, with Harris taking Weideman. With Kossies speed, really only leave Madden as the potential match up. Lester could be a very important inclusion, otherwise we will be stretched for height with Jackson.

To me, our forward line has become our biggest asset of late, and could be the deciding factor, however with Lever and May their supporters should be equally confident. The Trio of Daniher, Hipwood and McStay has really stretched defenses lately, McStay involvement has been delightful for all supporters. Fully expect one of these players to sacrifice their game to curb Levers output. Charlie’s form of late has been absolutely top notch, they’ve previously played May on Charlie, who generally done a great job. I don’t think they’ll be afforded that Luxury this time, as our height will be a real worry, fully expect another big game from Charlie.

Yep, there’s never much bluster from Brisbane supporters. Not sure why - whether it’s the physical distance (although that doesn’t stop West Coast fans from chirping), the a culture of humbleness, or just the warm weather in Queensland just makes them more relaxed about life in general, but the difference is noticeable.

They’re a team that gives you no reason to hate them. Quiet supporters, humble coach, tough players. I have respect for the way they’re just quietly building. I’m looking forward to this game more than I have any other this year, should be great.

Well he's been dropped for Neale so don't have to worry about being infuriated by him now ?

A lot of them are ex-Fitzroy supporters so may be more humble considering what they've been through?

A lot of them are real bandwagon supporters up here, since the Broncos have been terrible, they have really gotten behind the lions.

I'm less worried about this game then the dogs, maybe that because we have proven the the competition that we’re the real deal.

Neutral venue, we’re down some key players.

Melbourne by 11 points, May to destroy their forward line.

edit - brain fart ?

Yeah I saw that. Still, I’m sure there’ll be no shortage of other players to get us fired up. Especially if they home in on Maxi ?

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
