Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Where Will We Play Collingwood? (QB Big Freeze)

Recommended Posts

This marquee event deserves a crowd at the game and what better venue to provide that in the current climate than the picturesque Adelaide Oval.

If the SA government come to the party and allow the teams the short flight in and flight out it would be a win, win for everybody.

The locals would get behind it because its for a good cause and a better spectacle for TV audiences.

No brainer.

This game deserves to be at the MCG and have crowds.

It would be better to push it to the following weekend (as we don't play Essendon until the following Saturday night, and hope we have some crowds by then.

That is 18 days away. We may well be back to 50% capacity by then?

This game is so important not just to our bottom line, but also to MND. Doing it anywhere else would not do it justice.

100% spot on. I've been campaigning to have this game moved to Saturday night 19 June, and have our bye next weekend.

Failing that, just play the game at the G in front of nobody. I'm sure the players would prefer to stay in VIC than live out of a suitcase for 5 weeks.

Mmmm, a vulnerable post.

My father died of MND 5 years ago last Thursday, just as I became a father (and he had his first grandchild), and had a relationship with Neale, through Daniher's Drive .

Previously because of my unwillingess to attend to the G for The Big Freeze, I've headed to Alice to honour the old bloke and watch a match live around the date of his death.

In a somewhat hilarious course of fate,  it's taken me around 5 years to have the courage to head to the 'G' to celebrate the life of my father, and honour the work that Neale and the entire community that facilitates Fight MND have committed to do.

I've often envisaged myself sitting at the ground, sobbing, overwhelmed with the occasion, and most likely heading to the Bullring to have copious amounts of pints throughout a game.

This year, I felt as though I've worked through a lot of my unresolved grief, to a space of being joyous about turning up to the G, and marking his absence, by taking my 5 year old up to the ground to watch the Wiz go down the slide and have yet another generation support the red and blue and mark it with a solid [censored] win against the Pies.

Anyway, best laid plans and all of that...

I'll be putting my days outing cost (train ticket, plus beer, plus food, plus gate, plus more beer) into a MND donation tin/online somewhere instead.

Hopefully, you still are able to go, mate, and pay tribute to your great Dad.

Surely under the circumstances the AFL will make this our home game next year so we retain the gate rather than missing it completely this year. This would be a win as it would split it up to be alternate years to the Anzac Eve game which would be much better for spreading the cashflow.

Yes yes and yes. Was thinking this.
Surely the AFL needs to try to keep this game and the big freeze event alive.

I cannot understand why teams playing in these blockbusters don't do a split 70-30 one year and 30-70 the next. Reduces risk for both sides and helps to even cash flow. Note. Could be 60-40 whatever works.

I'm living in a small coastal town at the moment that has had no cases of Covid.

More people are wearing MND beanies than masks when walking along the beach in open air. No positive lingers t-shirts spotted yet though.

I'm hoping that big freeze 7 doesn't get overtaken by lock down 4.

Could bring forward the WCE/Tigers game in its place so the Tigers have to spend one less week in Perth. Win/win.

There will be no crowd, so not worth it.

I’d do it at the Gabba or Adelaide.

Very unlikely to have a Decent crowd even if we push it back. So sad but we should move it.
imagine having a packed house at another state. Would show how big Neales influence really is

  • Demonland changed the title to Where Will We Play Collingwood? (QB Big Freeze)

I think this game will be at the G in front of an empty stadium.

The players have made it clear that they don't want to be hubbing, so why make them travel unnecessarily if the game can be played in Melbourne under the essential services provision despite the possible lockdown extension.

In terms of lost revenue, it's not great but we've been told that we have one of the stronger balance sheets in the AFL and are proudly an unassisted club. Plus, a genuine finals tilt will help our finances down the track.

Furthermore, we need to play as many games at the G this year to absolute nail down our game plan in preparation for finals. Playing hub games at Adelaide Oval, Giants Stadium, Cairns etc...defeats this purpose.

Two sides to every coin.

This year is toast for revenue as was last year.

If MFC play in GF win or lose we will get oodles of big G games 2022. Club will be in a better possie than most.  Cant believe posters happy with a gabba 'home game'. Hell with that. We play at a ground better for us..F! ..Brisbane.

4 points are everything for MFC 2021. Crowds were crappy before latest lockdown.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
